  • I downloaded your game two days ago and I wanna tell you something about it: It ROCKS! ;) Excellent job! (although Repo Man's stage wins my award as the most irritating stage >.< with its succession of alternating spikes puzzles)

    As an experienced Mega Man player, the first day I defeated all Robot Masters except Hit Man and Repo Man ('cause I couldn't actually GET to them XP ...) I found Police Man to be the toughest Robot Master in this game.

    Oh! And Snow Man is pretty cleverly designed ;)

  • I would make the level design more in depth, or more challenging, also less tedious with the backgrounds. The boss battle was done very well though. I miss the sliding in megaman 9 and 10, good thing that was included.

  • Gameplay for this is not very good. stages are way too long and tedious and mega mans jumping is ridiculous

  • I like this game because the robot masters are clearly not ones that you would see in a capcom made game but the style and design more than make up for that, and still keep the core basics in the game as well. Good job :)

  • My only complaints are that Mega's movements are very unlike the games, which distract me from the gameplay.

    Also, the graphics in Hit Mans stage look kinda ugly. but otherwise, done very nicely.

    Its even cheaper than BrightMan's flash stopper! -_-; At least that was avoidable if you knew how it worked.

    And also the game music is quite nice and the controls are bad.

  • This is what I think of your game.

    The robotmasters are ok, but both sprites and mugshots could have been better, they look pretty bland. But what does Repo Man mean? And also why is there a fireman in your game?! He is pretty bad overall, both lookvise, sprite vise and battle wise.

    But I really like the looks on some of the stages, especially DoorMan's stage. But I can see that you borrowed things from the official games for enemies and stages.

    People complain about having "too many colors per sprite". OH NO! Me though, I think you got the art style perfectly authentic. It's the substance that makes the art, not the limitations.

    The music too. Once again, 100% MegaMan and 100% awesome.

    The physics aren't PERFECTLY authentic though. MegaMan doesn't take his "step" right before running. Also, he seems to be pushed off edges after barely making a jump.

    BTW, WHAT INTRUMENTS WERE USED IN REASON?

  • This game broke the laws of Mega-Physics!

    1) Megaman can't crouch! It just doesn't work like that!

    2) You have a maximum of 4 Colors per weapon (7 if you count skin, eyes, and outlines), but the NES only allows 3 colors per moving object. The only reason Megaman could fit 5 is because Capcom shoved a magic wand in all of their cartridges.

    3) NES games don't fade in/out that smoothly, they get darker by one shade every frame, using the NES color pallete. Next time, you should use it.

  • Hey man, Rockman doesn't crouch. =) From all the games I've played, he only crouch on Rockman X5 and Rockman X6. Crouching made the boss easier to beat.

  • I have to say the game is all is the best megaman fan game I've ever played. Ontop of that, The music HIGHLY exceeded what I expected froma fan game! The only issue I ever had was some precison jumping, but the game was still Rock-Man Hard difficulty and I loved it <3

    I must know, what program did you use for the music? That is if you don't mind sharing.

  • I use Reason 4 to write and compose my work. Then I usually mix with Sony Acid and master with T-Racks.

    No, 0 is quite accurate, seeing as how they don't work. Seriously, the way you need to hold your right hand in order to access the Shoot and Jump keys requires you keep it bent at a completely stupid angle. Why you didn't include an option screen to change keys is totally beyond me (especially since you chose such an absurdly non-standard control scheme).

    And that's not even counting the other control problems with the game. For instance, you cannot slide while running. Normally in the NES games, you can jump while holding left or right diagonally downwards and you'll go into a slide while running. In this game, you have to stop running, then quickly duck and press jump to slide. Absolutely terrible design.

    There's also the problem of Mega Man being unable to 'twitch' move, i.e., take a short step forward by tapping the move key. It's minor, but it makes a bit of a difference during some jumping sequences. I also disagree with the choice of making his jump physics act as if he's underwater or in low grav all the time. I know it was experimental, but I don't feel it succeeds.

    The sound for the weapon charging is also the worst sound on the planet (especially compared to the NES's).

    I do give you credit for capturing the feel of the original series - unlike a lot of people who use game making programs (like RPG Maker and such), you've gone out of your way to make original graphics and music in addition to the originals, and have definitely captured the look of Mega Man. As far as artistically, you got everything perfectly (except for the slight FPS lagging, but that's due to the program you used and not so much your fault, so it's easily forgivable).

    Unfortunately, the gameplay itself is where the game is lacking due to issues like the ones I've named, and the gameplay is ultimately what counts in a game. Sadly, the game isn't much fun. It feels like it was made by someone who had seen a lot of Mega Man, but hadn't played much of it to know what made it great.

    Sorry, but a game like RosenkreuzStilette is a much better Mega Man clone. This game has crap for controls and movement, and the bosses simply aren't a challenge. :(

  • I just finished this game some days ago, you did a good job, Eric, the only complaints I have are about the apparent non-response of the jump button some times, and goddamn RepoMan's stage, I lost like 30 lives there with the cursed spikes...

    The snow weapon was very good, in fact, it was like the Metal Blade of this game xDD, you could kill anything in one, maybe two shots with that, heh.

  • I like how Door Man looks pissed off. Must have overslept when they were handing out robot master positions. Probably was gunning for the Hit Man Position. :P

  • The music isn't all that authentic, there is a LOT of bugs, and the Robot Master's are sub-par, but overall this is an awesome fan project. Good job I guess :^)

  • I tried this game but there appears to be a very annoying flaw in it. It seems that very often I slide off the edge of a platform when making a jump onto it and landing close to the edge (I've played classic the MegaMan games enough to know that this should not happen). This is very apparent in the beginning of Hitman's stage at the first jump.

    I've also had cases where the jump button won't respond when using it near the edge of a platform while walking.

    This game has lots of potential though

    There needs to be a way to prevent Door Man from bringing your health down to 1 by clapping 4 times in a row.

    No extras for the characters. I designed it in an earlier style where story was minimal and everything centered on gameplay.
