  • Cant you people make any video without music

  • what is the code thing, please can uh tell me what is this all code stuff? please?

  • @DrugfulMusic its java

  • @SeekLegend please tell me where you learned java. i want to develop android apps too but i think it's better to learn java pretty well first

  • @SeekLegend could you make these in c and c++?

i tried to learn java but i cant get the eclipse compiler so i said screw it ill just learn C

but i know a little bit of java

    like though "true" and stuff

  • @jjtheslayer69 Android coding requires java and xml. Setting up isn't hard- this video is a guide for it, but in short: 1. download eclilpse 2. help-install new software 3. put in url in video 4. install sdk 5. set up avd 6. file-new-other-android project, the video shows each of these steps in more detail

  • @SeekLegend alright ill comback to this sooner or later

im just gonna get familliar with C first

hear it is similar to all other intermediate languages

    like learning latin or sumthin

and i downloaded the eclips a while back and it only gave me a folder

    and no program

  • @SeekLegend thank you very much though

this gave me alot of perspective on the subject

  • hey man.I do not see android in mine at all not even in preferences.maybe you can point me in the right place of what im doing wrong thanks

  • Oh plz someone tell me were to find a no coding required game maker for android o frkn plz

  • so how much should i expect to spend? i need to be able to count several thing and keep track of wich parts go to each door...floor totals as well as building totals... wanting to help my grandpa out so he can keep track of the different locksfor different rooms... hes gettin kinda old so an app like the one im describeing would help out my gramps alot

  • Do you have to install eclipse before downloading the archives / components ?

  • @n0thinghereApps you need eclipse to download all the components

  • I get an error saying " no java virtual machine was detected at the following address..." ?????

  • @DosEquisIAM did you download the java jdk? at that point it should prompt you to and give you a link to go to, if not, you can find it by searching google

  • @DosEquisIAM It is because if you havent used java before you will have to set up the PATH system go seek after : How to set up java on windows. in the searchmachine. on mac this should be set up already.

  • @DosEquisIAM @SeekLegend Ialso have that problem

  • @CritiCalDane I actually bought a book on android development, teaches you how to set up eclipse, java sdk, enviromental variables, and i have my first android app.

  • @DosEquisIAM do you got that book as PDF :) lol

  • @CritiCalDane No, I purchased the paperback. But im sure you can find a pdf file somewhere on the net... I bought Android Application for dummies... trust, it is very helpful!

  • @DosEquisIAM lol and thx for still answering on your comments since it's an old vid :)

  • thanks for making this video, it helped me out alot. Can you make one that shows how to make a basic app, like the infamous "Hello World" programming code? Thanks man!

  • when i'm writing something in that box called " Package Name" it is just writing "Package name must have at least two identifiers " then i write something more (with a space) then it changes to " ' bla bla ' is not a vaild java identifier "

    Can you please help me?

  • @DuckieStyle1 try doing this put com.APPNAME.android

replacing appname with the name of your app i believe this is to identify the app on your computer etc. and on the android market i hope this helps

  • @DuckieStyle1 like it's a second identifier that you can find the app either by its name or the second identifier as i mentioned many times

  • When I try to install the Android SDK, it says I need Java SE Development Kit 7, even though I have that installed. Please help.

  • lol, using mac to make android app

  • Where is the part 2???

  • @TheAfropuff001 The idea of this video is to teach you how to set up your computer to develop for android, which is hard to find online anywhere, hence, why I made this video to simplify the process. The coding is all a combination of Java and XML, you can also look at the Android repository for more. Perhaps I may make videos in the future that teach coding in these languages, but it is also easy to find tutorials for them online. Good luck.

  • yes =D thumbs up cuz mac user!!!!!

  • Dude, thanks for making the video. Maybe you could also highlight the install instructions link? It was hard to find on the eclipse page.

  • @4eVaShia go to eclipse-preferences, then Android. browse for the sdk, then press ok. If you can't find it, then redownload the sdk.

  • @SeekLegend Ok sdk must be in rar of unrared ? :)

  • Do i need a Mac to make Android apps? or can i still use my Windows computer and do all this?

  • @horde001 it works the same on windows, os x, and linux

  • @SeekLegend so i can still create/send/make money off them on a windows computer?

  • @horde001 yes

  • @PEofblank okay thank you! :)

  • Wooah.. Is it allowed to have an android dev program on an mac? :O Watch out, Apple might sue you

  • @TheAbbedissen lol :p

  • @TheAbbedissen : LOL so true.. :P ;)

  • Not a bad video (Song was shit though)

  • @TheAbbedissen Well no one said we couldn't. After all, it is up to Google to decide that, just like the SDK for iOS is Mac-only

  • just please back and than next again when that happen and then it will let you install it

  • wen i go to preferences to choose the sdk... in android theres like 20 choices... wat shoul di choose

  • @2866500 I'd choose 2.1

  • Im gonna make my own Apps! See ya in Market :p

  • if i extract eclipse, it don't find Java Runtime Environment oder Java Development Kit.

Where do I get this from?

  • @MRoiLfuel It should give you a website, or just search google for Java JDK and download that.

  • @MRoiLfuel You can get it from Sun Microsystems website

  • 1:17 What are you typing for Location?

  • Where do you extract Eclipse to?

  • @wastedmoney15 wherever you want, doesn't matter, put it on your desktop if you plan on using it a lot

  • @SeekLegend what do i put in for the package

  • @SuperErgoman if you haven't made your own package (you probably haven't, nor do you really need to if you're just making a simple app), it doesn't matter that much, just put com.example for your package (or something like that

  • 1:05 what are you writing in name and location?

  • added an annotation at 1:50 for those who don't get the option for "android project"

  • @VoodooVulpix the code is all java; and please don't write in all caps

  • for some reason when I try to create a new project, it doesn't give me the option to create an android project only java

  • @SeekLegend Can anyone read what the repository is? I can't see the URL

  • @MattH2580 check out 1:20 of the video

  • @SeekLegend Oh, now I feel like a bit of an idiot not realising that was there :(

  • @MattH2580 read 1:20

  • ECLIPSE PREFERENCES!!

  • hey there I am struggling with the sdk and I can not find my SDK file when i search it through the Preferences.. Can you please help me?? thanks

  • @yoyosangab what web browser do you use? do you have a downloads folder? if it makes it easier, download it to your desktop, that way you know exactly where it is

  • google chrome!

  • My brain can't process what's actually going on. Just come over and do it for me. kthx

  • i cant find the sdk file im running on windows vista

  • Great vid SeekLegend and thanks for the time/effort you put into it.

  • I did everything like you did it (im on a mac) but when creating a new file I don't have the option to create "Android Project". What to do?

  • @TechnicalMinecraft go to file-new-other, then select android from there; see the description for more details

  • i fixed the problem, but when it says that i need to select a build target, i cant select anything, so i cant proceed. What do i do then?

  • I get an error where it says that i need to install a Java runtime evironment(JRE), or Java development kit(JDK). What do i do then??? thanks. Great video

  • @MysoftwareCorp Install the java jdk. There might also be a link in the message you get, but if not, then you can easily find it on google.

  • Is there a way to convert Flash to Android Apps? I program in AS2.

  • added annotation to video about the common problem: not finding the sdk; 1:00

  • Are you going to make other tutorials on how to make a 2d android game?

  • @KitosAEK perhaps, if enough people want it; I was considering making a follow up video on how to code, but never got around to it. If more people show interest, I'll consider making one.

  • eeeeew mac lol

  • Wait, sorry I didn't realize that It showed afterwards... Sorry

  • @VxMid It's k, I might add an annotation when I'm typing in the location.

  • Hey I was wondering, when you add the Repository, whats the link? The quality isn't good enough for me to read it.. Thanks

  • your song is annoying.. not to be an ass.

can you only make apps? and not home themes?

  • @NightCrawler6913 mute button

  • cant seem to find the sdk location

  • @Schaffnerh8rsINC Preferences-Android, then browse for wherever you saved it.

  • when i click Android SDK and AVD manager an error meesage comes up saying "the location of the Android SDK has not been set up in the preferences." what should i do? and where do i find the location? please help...

  • @gettingirlz123 same goes for you, Preferences-Android, then browse for wherever you saved it.

  • @SeekLegend yeah u figured it out thanks:)

  • wht did u put for the package name

  • @in12341234 use com.example if you don't need a third party package

  • i have already installed Java JDK but Android keeps saying it can't find it??? I've already tried changing paths and everything and it still doesn't work??

  • legend.

  • thank you so much this is great! very clear tutorial on how to install....

Now all I have to do is learn to code in Android! LOL

  • when i click on window it doesnt show android

  • Ok fixed my last problem, now my only issue (I think) is that it says there's no AVD available. Is this an issue? I'm running XP..... I would think it would be an issue and I wouldn't be able to debug.

Btw, when installing the SDK, if it says JDK not installed...simply hit back, and then next. Not sure why but it will find the JDK after you do that as long as it's already installed!!

  • @99camarosupersport The AVD should be part of the SDK components. Try reinstalling them by going to Window > Android SDK and AVD Manager, go to available packages, then select everything; press install selected

  • @SeekLegend The only available packages there are the android repository and the third party add ons. Should there be more here?

  • @SeekLegend When I go into the virtual devices tab, I have the option to select a target. It looks there like I can choose each release of Android up to Honeycomb 3.0....Should I pick Froyo there? Will going with the latest release work back with all past releases ie 3.0?

  • @99camarosupersport......Thank YOU! Ive been reading notes from the beginning to figure out why i cant install SDK if JDK isn't installed even though it was, would have never figured that out.

  • Not sure what's going on. Installed it all to what i thought would be correct, the adt when smooth, but when i try to install the SDK it says it's not there. If I try to set the path, it's not installed... and I can't install the SDK i downloaded because it says i haven't installed the JDK....which I have...

  • I can't install the android SDK! If i try to install it it says "Java JDK is not installed". I have install it but te android SDK says i haven't. What now? PLEASE HELP ME!

  • i gather a lot of you shitheads don't have a computer science background if you have to ask dumb questions.

  • how do you create a android virtual device?

  • What do I type on Package Name? :S It says is not a valid Java identifier...

  • Thanks, this video helped me alot starting

  • alright. i see in your comments that if the browser or computer doesn't install the SDK to the default Eclipse spot you will have to put it in yourself. i find the file location of the SDK and it wont work. it says it cant find the file location and also says there are no targets available. help please?
