"don't neglect your studies?"...wow, for some wrinkled prune who tells canned jokes about celebrities every week in one breath, and star fucks them to their faces, he has some balls talking down to a young talented band trying to make a living out of being original...then again the sad statement about society is that Letterman is more successful than they will ever be and right about them not quiting their day jobs.
Trail of Dead is one of the best live bands I've ever seen. I thought this sounded pretty good, but you could tell that at times once they got loud they had no monitors. It wouldn't be the first time a talk show has fucked a band on stage.
@jonnywotsit Ha! Playing it every night is not so easy I hear many people say that but they dont do it well, and cant play it flawlessly.....so it might take idiots sure, but those idiots can play faster and more technical than these homos, who cant even stya on stage to thank the tonight show for having them on, dont neglect your studies indy kids, because you dont have any fucking respect for anything! just an opinion brought to you by the kid that hates that this band has this names copyright
I saw this performance and IMMEDIATELY the next day bought the album. I was in the middle of a breakup and would commute the 7 hrs home with this song VERY LOUD.
Critically acclaimed...LOLOL, Does that mean it's good? How could you have "metal" in your handle and like this crap? Seriously, I almost killed myself typing this cause of that horrible voice and awful instrumentals.
Dude, if you think this guy can't sing, listen to Mark E. Smith, if you can't appreciate this band, I gues you won't appreciate The Fall, which is REAL MUSIC!
the difference is: people care about him/them, unlike you. shit like this ain't helping your cause either. i suggest deleting your contribution to the thread and starting a blog... we'll see how many people show up.
I love ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, almost as much as I love Lyndsey Loveberry in every relative way. takes me back to a place and time I never should have fucked up in every relative way.
haha i love this comment so much! think of how much he sings i wouldnt doubt his voice is shot. shit happens. i love TOD. caterwaul is the best song. by the way at the very end i think he gives the middle finger again..
I remember seeing that when it aired and feeling bad that they stunk so bad. Out of tune and tired vocals. Should have done "Another Morning Stoner" instead. Dave even told them in essence to keep their day jobs! Too bad!
theres a way to play something similar in normal tuning but that is obviously not the way TOD plays it
there were tabs at their page before but not all of that was right
for instance mistakes and regrets wasnt played that way at all(I learned it from the tabs then watched a performance and it wasnt played around the same frets at all and probably not in the mentioned tuning)
Trail of Dead is the best and still are the best. Fuck tuning, fuck singing it right, monotone-madonna-era singing is all thats neccessary. Fuck your fellow work employees.
Conrad BEFORE the singing lessons. Pitch problems and tuning problems. They must look back at this performance and cringe. Still, great song, and from the only line-up that mattered.
this video..i've searched for for so long...what the bassist does at the end..was somthing i've NEVER seen before...blows my mind...Letterman brings out the best in musicians (ATDI perfect example)
Such an under appreciated band....Love them!

what was the comment at the end for "dont neglect your studies"?
zakfmt 2 years ago
dave wanted to make them look like a bunch of college students, i guess. they were 30ish by that time though.
Siebenstein83 2 years ago
@zakfmt I think "don't neglect your studies" might be the college equivalent of "don't quit your day job." If so, Dave is pretty mean.

I do agree, although Madonna and Worlds Apart have some good songs on them. I haven't heard their newest album though. ST&C > Madonna > Worlds Apart.

Kevin's B string is way sharp. It seems to be throwing Conrad off. Crazy how one badly out of tune string can make the whole band sound rough.
