  • Such an under appreciated band....Love them!

  • "don't neglect your studies?"...wow, for some wrinkled prune who tells canned jokes about celebrities every week in one breath, and star fucks them to their faces, he has some balls talking down to a young talented band trying to make a living out of being original...then again the sad statement about society is that Letterman is more successful than they will ever be and right about them not quiting their day jobs.

  • @DISSODANTS I agree with you 10000%!

  • Trail of Dead is one of the best live bands I've ever seen. I thought this sounded pretty good, but you could tell that at times once they got loud they had no monitors. It wouldn't be the first time a talk show has fucked a band on stage.

  • MGMT doesn't suck.

  • Haha, look at you haters - The Century Of Self turned out to be one of their best albums, and their live shows are tighter than ever.

  • he cannot sing that high!!!

  • genial loko !

  • I almost forgot how rad this song is.

  • Watch Trail of Dead perfrom "Isis Uveiled" exclusively on my channel!

  • Watch an exclusive interview with Trail of Dead's Conrad Keely on our profile!

  • I miss Neil!

  • what was the comment at the end for "dont neglect your studies"?

  • dave wanted to make them look like a bunch of college students, i guess. they were 30ish by that time though.

  • @zakfmt I think "don't neglect your studies" might be the college equivalent of "don't quit your day job." If so, Dave is pretty mean.

  • Hold on to this group cos there aint many like them left.

    Any idiot can do metal

  • @jonnywotsit Ha! Playing it every night is not so easy I hear many people say that but they dont do it well, and cant play it flawlessly.....so it might take idiots sure, but those idiots can play faster and more technical than these homos, who cant even stya on stage to thank the tonight show for having them on, dont neglect your studies indy kids, because you dont have any fucking respect for anything! just an opinion brought to you by the kid that hates that this band has this names copyright

  • @666Zombiecore Fucking RETARD

  • Source Tags is a brilliant album, it's a shame the rest of their albums are all less than average.

  • its definitely their best, but all of their albums are great in some way... even So Divided

  • @psychomode14 i dont know, let it dive is really good 2

  • what about worlds apart?

  • what songs are noteworthy on Source Tags. I wanna youtube em

  • My favourites are the rest will follow, how near how far, another morning stoner and heart in the hand of the matter.

  • I do agree, although Madonna and Worlds Apart have some good songs on them. I haven't heard their newest album though. ST&C > Madonna > Worlds Apart.

  • so Sonic youth this song, but still one of the greatest albums of the 00's

  • source tags codes is truely a gem of the indie rock genre.

  • damn dude

  • I saw this performance and IMMEDIATELY the next day bought the album. I was in the middle of a breakup and would commute the 7 hrs home with this song VERY LOUD.

  • Yea the dude can't sing

  • Just to let you know, the album this song came from was the most critically acclaimed album 0f 2002; and it's spelled dumb, dumbass.

  • Critically acclaimed...LOLOL, Does that mean it's good? How could you have "metal" in your handle and like this crap? Seriously, I almost killed myself typing this cause of that horrible voice and awful instrumentals.

  • everyone lookout, the internet tough guy has arrived.

  • Dude, if you think this guy can't sing, listen to Mark E. Smith, if you can't appreciate this band, I gues you won't appreciate The Fall, which is REAL MUSIC!

  • irrelevant.

  • the difference is: people care about him/them, unlike you. shit like this ain't helping your cause either. i suggest deleting your contribution to the thread and starting a blog... we'll see how many people show up.

  • LOL u dumfuck. Keep defending your fag rock!

  • oooh yeah! i remember buying their cd 'source of tags & codes' back in 05... & i kinda forgot about them. i guess they're big in the u.k.?

i lovee them wow! i need to catch up on their music asap

  • the first thing that comes to mind is sonic youth with mgmt vocals i like this band this is the first time i hear them!

  • hahaha. But MGMT suck and this band has been around so much longer

  • ya they have but it kinda reminds me of them. they are like sonic youth as well but thats something to be really proud of

  • one of the best rock bands.. for a long.. long time.

  • neil busch plows his bass into the amp and runs out of there fast. jason reece comes back and flips letterman off im pretty sure

  • They were better on Conan.

  • ahahaha letterman SLAYED them at the end

  • I love ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, almost as much as I love Lyndsey Loveberry in every relative way. takes me back to a place and time I never should have fucked up in every relative way.

  • Comment removed

  • haha Neil fucking Busch!!

have you heard the band he has now?

they put up new demos a little while ago

  • Getting screwed up on Heroin is hard? If thats your definition he was far too hard.

  • my god, how can such an awesome band do such a shit performance?

  • Try playing on national television and see how great you perform, rockstar.

  • fair call

  • haha i love this comment so much! think of how much he sings i wouldnt doubt his voice is shot. shit happens. i love TOD. caterwaul is the best song. by the way at the very end i think he gives the middle finger again..

  • I remember seeing that when it aired and feeling bad that they stunk so bad. Out of tune and tired vocals. Should have done "Another Morning Stoner" instead. Dave even told them in essence to keep their day jobs! Too bad!

  • "Let em riot we can take it...we're fucking sonic death monkey!!"

  • It sounds like Sonic Youth ...

  • what doesnt?

  • touche.

  • hahaha!

  • good to see that this clip included the stuff at the end where Neil kills his rented bass amp

(although you dont see him kicking it over. I think you saw that when this was aired. or Im wrong)

  • ha, if you pause it at exactly 3:30 you can see it's definitely the finger

  • HAHAHAHHAHAHHA jason rule.

  • "don't neglect your studies" was pretty funny

  • I can't believe letterman had somebody that awesome on his show, they're not really that famous and they're loud and sound like a bunch of racket.

  • definitely the bird.

  • dont neglect your studies

  • that had me rollin'

  • i can't tell what danny wood does after shaking lettermans hand...

does hip flip em the bird?

    or give a thumbs up?

  • looks like the metal sign to me \m/

  • It's Jason Reece. This is Source Tags & Codes era ('02), before Danny Wood joined.

  • i see the one finger solute. no where do i even remotely see the devil metal sign.

  • Loved Source Tags and Codes and Relative ways is one of my faves thanks for posting this. Letterman seems to have some good bands on!!!?

  • this is a fantastic performance.

  • even greater when they play it that fast

  • Hahaahhahah! I love the shot of the bass impaled through the tipped over speaker cabinet at the end. Hilarious.

  • pretty heavy. makes me feel good.

  • Their first album was brilliant. They've really fallen off a cliff since then.

  • the album this song is off of is by no means their first album

  • all there albums are brilliant : )

  • nice

  • does anyone know what tuning this is in?

theres a way to play something similar in normal tuning but that is obviously not the way TOD plays it

there were tabs at their page before but not all of that was right

for instance mistakes and regrets wasnt played that way at all(I learned it from the tabs then watched a performance and it wasnt played around the same frets at all and probably not in the mentioned tuning)

  • Definitely sounds like he has at least 2 strings tuned together, like Sonic Youth does.

  • I may be a year late for alsatiaoncousin but tuning is..

    AADGBE

  • Trail of Dead is the best and still are the best. Fuck tuning, fuck singing it right, monotone-madonna-era singing is all thats neccessary. Fuck your fellow work employees.

  • aahhh...the days when TOD was good.

  • And now they're great!

  • damn straight. make that b string even more out of tune because this is awesome

  • hey douchefaces, no real artist sits around and talks about tuning and pitch. you are resigned to be baristas for this very reason! die!!

  • Kevin's B string is way sharp. It seems to be throwing Conrad off. Crazy how one badly out of tune string can make the whole band sound rough.

  • Conrad BEFORE the singing lessons. Pitch problems and tuning problems. They must look back at this performance and cringe. Still, great song, and from the only line-up that mattered.

  • set your alarm for your shift at starbucks you douche!

  • I can't get enuf of this tune.

  • i like the sound....i feel good.

  • I ont know how you mean. This song sounds much better in a higher tempo.

  • Its the drumm who give letterman "the bird".

  • "Don't neglect your studies." - David Letterman.

    classic comeback...

  • the other guitarist shows letterman the middle finger is that right?

  • What happend there? What did letterman say before the performance? Does someone know something?

  • Its like my two favorite bands gentically cross bred into one band Hum & Sebadoh.... Kick Azz!

  • this video..i've searched for for so long...what the bassist does at the end..was somthing i've NEVER seen before...blows my mind...Letterman brings out the best in musicians (ATDI perfect example)

  • The experience of a live show from these guys is to die for.

  • i can only imagine...i'd love to see them

  • dont neglect your studies, classic!

  • Weird! Why did they cut out some parts of song?

  • probably just to shorten it for tv..

they sound so much better on the album. i mean they're not terrible, just not as powerful. too bad.
