@largraf Well, I'm pretty sure that's a rhetorical question, so I'm not going to try to answer it. My perspective on the mosque is this: I don't see any cost OR benefit to a mosque being built there. But let's say it's construction was blocked. I don't see how that would benefit the city, country, or society at all. However, it COULD help out radical Muslims and their cause if they cited it as an example of American infidelity and intolerance of Islam.

I know full well the dangers of religion, but living in america means you can do what you want, think what you want and say what you want. I frankly dont give a shit what they build there, but what i care about is people dont get their rights taken away just because they belong to a certain group, that sets a dangerous precedent in america, even if it against the religious. Though i o understand that ground zero is symbolic, comparing it to "the biggest mosque in iraq" is a bit of a stretch. It wasnt islam as a whole that planned the events of 9/11, it was a few extremists, every religion has them. Lets just call this what it is, people are just tired of hearing about muslims and dont want to see them anymore. People see a burqah or a beard and they get pissed.

Dont worry, islam will never take over america, we have something something those arabic countries dont, a unbiased constitution that isnt based on religion.
