  • I wish some artist would stand up and put together a song about the murder of the unborn children in this world!! What a shame, we'll all pay for it one day!!

  • how the hell could you have listened to this song, and not understand what is being stated?

  • yOU FOOLS..JUST LISTEN TO ONE OF THE BEST BAND EVER..!!!!!!!

  • It's a good song from a terrible album, in my opinion. Kissing Willie's fun, but the rest is meh. The last big masterpiece is Roots to Branches, what a gem that is and one of their best albums ever.

  • Many Thanks

  • Major Epicness, and the lyrics are great!

  • One of my favorite Jethro Tull songs. Amazing songwriting. They did so many great overlooked songs over the years.

  • And for those who dislike the japanese and those who hunt whales, do u know what nation is the biggest whale hunters?? No u probaply don´t! And they don´t even use all the whales they kill the through them back to the sea that´s USA for u.

  • @hjaltitth1 You're just a hater and a liar.

  • pas mal.

  • one of the best tracks in the album, great album btw

  • One old whaler dislikes this....

  • Does there exist video live of this song? or do they perform it on a concert which is recorded as video?

  • A hard hitting song that pulls no punches - it is all about survival. We are flawed and our greed will be unsustainable.

  • i love this whole album

  • amazing song

  • LIVE LONG TO SEA SHEPERDS...LIVE LONG TO GREENPEACE...FUCK THOSE ONE WHO LIVES UPON THE ANIMAL SUFFERING.....NOBODY WILL ESCAPE FROM THE FINL JUDGMENT..NOBODY CAN HIDE FROM GOD S EYES!!!!

  • @rdtli Either u are stupid or just ignorant?? Are u a vegeterian, I don´t think so and if not u sure live on animal suffering. Animal brought to the slaughter in large numbers are starved for the last 24 hour´s at least and they can feel the smell of blood wich makes them suffer because they know what´s coming!!

  • @hjaltitth1 SORRY DUDE...BUT I DID NOT GET YOUR POINT...?!

  • They played this at Illinois State University's Redbird Arena in November 1989. That was a great concert, even if we weren't allowed out of our seats until the last 3rd of the show.

  • ...."This spanish gold ounce for whomever spots the WHITE WHALE......"

  • @WrathchildNH

The guy with the black derby in the middle picture!

  • and behind stand generations..Not like the Japanese.

  • to jmharrison51

You are so right! - think about all these people who lost their jobs, it was their life. When the whale hunting was shut dovn, they did not have anything left. But still it was horrible what they did,- not to them because it was their living for a generations, but still I think Ian Anderson thougt about this poor animals in his song - don´t you think so too? lisbet

  • I love Ian Andersen . he is just a genius guy, just love a whalers due, its so buatiful, it showes a man who`s thinking. Whale hunting is a terrible thing, AND I AM FROM NOWAY! Leave these animals alone!!!!!! I dont even like theire meat - let them be, this is beautiful animals - just let them be !!!!!!!

    lisbet

  • a underated album. 5 *

  • easily the best song of Rock Island and along with Rocks on the Road and Roots to Branches one of the last masterpieces of Tull

    love this one

  • Great song! Thanks for the memories.

Saw their concert in Portland, Maine.

    Great show of great artists.

  • one of the best Tull songs and the return to fine quality music in 89

  • Ah, outstanding song choice, and a very fine visual accompaniment as well. See, shows you how warped I am: I always thought that this should've been the big radio play tune, instead of "Kissing Willie", but that's the way the ball bounces, I guess. Really wonderful vid, Aqua, and one of my all-time favorite songs from "Rock Island".

  • The Japanese, Norwegians, etc, won't like that one !

  • Why is that?!

  • Well it's all about whaling, and although it refers to some old whaler having to make a living killing whales out of pure necessity, it also makes clear that whaling is almost akin to murder. And the countries I refer to still hunt whales. The Japanese especially hoover up thousands each year for supposedly "scientific" purposes, and get very touchy if anyone calls them WHALE MURDERERS !!

  • Oh right I see. Yes, I did know that the song was about whaling of course and how that is controversial subject. But yeah, thanks or explaining that one, your like an encyclopedia when it comes to this!

  • On the Rock Island tour, Ian's introduction to this song was "How many of you like whales?...... How many of you like the people that kill them?" Listen to the lyrics closely, it's not exactly an "anti-whaling" song, it's a bit more complex than that.. But don't get me wrong, as far as I'm concerned whaling is inhumane, unjustified and indefensible; if every whaling ship in the world went down with all hands I wouldn't shed a tear.

  • ok, die ersten 1.30 typisch ;-)

    aber wie immer prima :-)

  • @roddy76to86 Just seen your comment 2 years later. Having listened to this since it came out, I always thought it was pretty balanced about whaling - giving both sides to the argument, at the time the anti-whaling lobby was hitting mainstream. The character has 3 hungry kids, he knows whaling is a dying industry (2 whales in the ocean is lovely analogy), but wants to go back to when it was acceptable.
