  • Republicans should all fucking go to hell.

  • Sigh. The sad fact is that "alternative" and/or "renewable" energy is a myth. Unless you want to revert back to a 19th century lifestyle. Ironically, the only real alternative source energy (nuclear), is the one that lefties hate. Go figure.

  • @twk373 The thing is there nothing wrong with nuclear power apart from the unsightly cooling towers. Its the nuclear waste that fucks up the whole deal and how long it takes to make it safe.

  • @hughes7520

If you knew anything about the science of nuclear waste, you would know that it is far less dangerous than retarded leftist reactionaries pretend. You would also know that the benefits of nuclear power VASTLY outstrip the costs associated with handling the waste safely.

  • @twk373 one word: Japan

  • @hntr15

Enjoy riding a horse and buggy to work while your wife washes clothes in a stream and your children hunt for firewood so they don't freeze in the winter.

  • Libs must like paying more at the pumps, and everywhere else because of increasing U.S.reliance on foreign oil.

But hey we already take your money for power we may as well sell you our oil and gas too.

Makes you wonder which of Obama's cronies have shares in Tar Sands interests.

  • I can't wait untill somone beats the shit out of this yountrurk guy, if he were smart he would get off u boob and go into hiding

  • @ORVX Looks like your the one that should be hiding, given the recent oil spill. You're a dumbass.

  • The only reason we aren't drilling is because rich liberals with shore property don't want to look at the oil rigs ruining their scenery. Those rigs could create lots of jobs and reduce energy costs Meanwhile, the working poor have no jobs and have to pay more of their meager income to heat their homes and buy gas. All because of rich liberals and this BS myth of global warming.

  • Global warming is NOT a myth. It is scientifically supported and widely accepted as TRUTH.

  • I guess that's why we had record lows in Minnesota and New England and why so many families are freezing and unable to afford heating oil since the price has gone up too high thanks to liberal taxes.

  • Well just so you know global warming is the precursor to an ice age. And the fact that places achieve record lows and highs does more to support the fact that its affecting our climate. Do some research before you babble.

  • I did. And I know that 50 years ago it was global cooling. Then when tempatures went up, they changed it to global warming. Now with tempatures back down, they decided, lets call it climate change.

BTW, there was global warming during the 12th century. Way before automobiles or factories.

YOU need to research instead of swallowing what government schools teach you.

  • Yea there was global warming before cars. But it was caused from the same things like a buildup of co2 in the atmosphere. Which, BTW, cars and pollution are RAPIDLY ACCELERATING the process. Give it up it's widely accepted scientific FACT. Indisputable. And who cares what they call it....that doesn't change the fact it exists.

  • So when Mt Etna and St helens erupted and released 10 times more co2 than we did since 1800s, why didn't it cook the earth?

Even if this crap was true (and its not) what we put out in 100 years is compared to a puff of smoke.

Also why doesn't China and India have to reduce co2. Why do you liberals only want America to make sacrifices and trash the working poor and kick them out of a job to save some stupid owls?

  • "hey look at me I study the climate well not really I go to a community college but I know some really smart people like al gore and my trans-gender flaming homosexual college instructor and they support global warming err I mean climate change so therefore I should because they're so smart.

  • @Bobsandwich98 LOL! That's probably where lennono gets his info from.

  • Its the largest accepted myth

  • You're half right about one thing. There are many liberals, including the Kennedy family, that opposes placing large wind farms off-shore where they can do the most good because they're more concerned about the view.

    Otherwise, yeah, you're completely wrong.

  • So true its the worlds biggest myth.

  • Lots of hot and sunbaked land in the USA, why not just put loadsss of solar farms

  • There is no useful or very successful alternative energy source and until their is one their is no reason why we should use Oil and that means drilling and making it from COAL.

Until the libs get their heads out of their asses about Global Warming and the environment the sooner oil will dwindle in prices and the sooner we can have stock piles of oil....

  • You ask a Lib to stick a windmill in their back yard and they are the first to say NO. It is useless. They want to stick them out into the oceans and then you have to run huge wires underwater which isn't cost efficient. Not to mention the turbines break down more then Fords.

Drill for oil... ANWAR, off our coasts. I live on the Gulf in Mississippi and we see no effect from the rigs. No spills, nothing. It actually helps fish have a place to be safe from predators...

  • n o need to even argue.

may or may not lover the price, where is the guarantee???

it is just aPR campain for no money since the price discussion is around.

    don`t get fooled again

    be aware of the neocons!!

  • Wind and Solar takes a tenth of the time to

install compared to Coal, Oil and Nuclear power plants.

But it is cheap energy so Big Oil would not make enough from it which is the ONLY reason they dont invest much in

    Greed Killz

  • Here's a note for retarded Republicans that think off shore oil will lower prices at the pump (instead of just boosting oil company profits. A) It will take billions of dollars to get that oil and refine it. B) It will take ten years before any of it actually is processed into gas, C) The gas will be sold on the global market with most going to China, D) We export 20% of our oil, much more than we could ever get from off shore wells. Stop being a stooge for the McCain Oil Company.

  • what are you gonna do when the "cheap" fuel runs out?

  • Fossil fuel is a finite resource it's inherently not long term. There is only a set physical amount you can pump out of the ground. Oil is not an infinite resource.

Remaining oil supplies should be used wisely. Not wasted on vehicles with poor fuel economy.

Alternative sources of energy need to be activated. Because a transition won't be smooth if acted on to late.

  • Meeting one percent of US oil starting from the year 2030. Is one percent. You don't get a larger percent over a longer term, you get one percent.

  • As noted roads in state are managed by the state government. But, national roads are managed by the federal government. Since the system is going across multiple states.

  • we just need to stop burning things.

even if it comes from things like crops, it'll not only cut into food supply, but can't keep up.

we need to get it into our heads. why are we still burning things when the technology exists to derive pure, clean electricity from so many sources to power our vehicles?

  • (lets just pretend it would work for us and only be supply and demand)

    isn't 1% of $4.00 a gallon a reduction of 4 cents per gallon?

    4 cents?

  • Just because oil company's have 1% more supply does not mean a 1% change the price.

Oil company's are often apart of organizations that often manipulate the supply of oil. All they have to do is just start closing off the supply of crude oil when the supply is high.

  • Well, there are both state and federal taxes. Since part of the road system is run under the federal government. For example the national highway system. While states also use taxes at the local level for roads.

  • If you eliminated the taxes on gas you would in-turn be eliminating the budget used for maintaining the highways, roads and our transportation infrastructure.

  • True, depending on relativity. Put into the perspective of the highly fluctuating global oil market and the rising need for oil. The price of oil on the commodities market just changed about 5-6% today.

Meeting 1% of US oil needs by the year 2030. Is just not going to make that much of a change in the market as part or a whole. We need something more then that. Which I am sure we both can agree with.

Adding alternatives to the US energy portfolio is a good way to go.

  • I'm sure that if we drill offshore for oil the speculators will leave THAT windfall alone.

Yeah, right. More oil for them to sell at the going price!

  • "The Bush administration estimated 200,000 barrels per day by 2030 from off shore drilling."

    We are talking about 1%.

  • Its ridiculous that Dems think that it will take a shorter time to convert basically all of America's main energy supply to "alternative" energy, than it will take to drill offshore or in ANWR.

I'm all for getting off of oil over time, but oil is NOW, it is the lifeblood of America (Yes, its a line from Hannity, smite me) You CANNOT cut down that lifeline that has put America where it is at overnight.

(And this guy is an arrogant moron with fixed polls.)

  • There is not enough oil in offshore drilling. To even offset the price, which will also take decades before you see any results.

There are lots of alternatives that have been around for years. Its not going to happen over night no, but over a few years. I think the US has the strength to make a few changes.

The most likely solution is to run electricity. Since, it only takes a hop and a skip between hybrid to plug-in hybrid to all electric.

  • Nuts and Bolts of Oil Drilling (Drilling Counts)

When the first oil crisis hit in the 70's the oil industry ramped up to 4,000 rigs. With our dependence on foreign oil growing from 25% back then to 60+% now, how can anyone explain the rig deployment dropping to 448 in 1999. It seems oil producers are only interested in profits. How can any one guarantee the oil producers will keep producing when prices drop? The history says no.

  • alternative energy as it should be doesn't exist. you don't believe in it. and yet when a republican talks about drill here, drill now, you salivate like a pavlovian dog. even if you don't see any current benefit you'll salivate. here's 1 thing you never here from the g.o.p.; CONSERVE! like carpooling. or taking public transportation& suburban trains. riding amtrak instead of flying. riding slower at 55 m.p.h. which would save gas and lives.

  • Alternative energy sources to oil do not exist. Wind and solar are literally just a drop in the bucket, and always will be. You libs need to face the facts: the only "real" alternative is to start drilling here and drilling now.

  • Putting in a solar installation (and this is only current technology) cut my electricity bill in half. I have saved over $1200 since installing them 6 months ago. Furthermore, oil is a finite resource so you better hope to hell it's not the only alternative out there.

  • then what happens when the oil runs out? i guess it's just all over for us then, huh?

  • you're talking about a national initiative. if our opinion actually mattered and we could vote instead of just answer meaningless polls then we could generate real progress.

  • if you really had faith in your country Cenk you'd be talking about why thats just a poll and not a referendum.

  • You used Chavez as an example of the people getting rich off of those oil plants but can the people go down and ask for a share of the profits from the Chavez govt? Its like saying that the money the IRS collects is the "people's money" now does that mean I can ask for my share from them since its my money? I can't because its the government's money at the point isn't it that they stole from me because property was transfered without my consent and that is theft.

  • That poll said that most americans think that oil exploration will just make oil companies richer. I don't think anyone has ever denied that but now ask if Americans mind if they get rich drilling for oild and I bet you will have a much different sounding poll.

  • I am probably one of the 76% americans favor of alternative fuel but if I had to replace alternative fuels with oil then I would drop out just like every other American. You seemed to have interpretted that to mean that Americans would get rid of oil or new oil production in favor of alternative fuels.

  • I think your study is flawed because you said that 66% of americans think that oil is a precious natural resource that should be preserved so why would that same 66% pump it in their cars and burn it up so they can go cruising around or something.

  • This is like taxes. If you make the royalties so high then companies bypass the land and go somewhere else. Now you have said that canada gets a higher percentage but you did not say the total amount of money that they generate from their royalty program. I'm willing to bet that we get more total money from our royalties than they do.

  • The only reason that oil companies are still drilling with such high royalties is because the worldwide demand is still high enough for them to sell what they make there and still make money. Wait until oil goes down then see what happens to those royalties then.

  • So you are saying that by giving them the rights to drill offshore won't be used because they want to drive up the cost of oil. OK so how is the current situation of not drilling do then? The same thing right.

  • *yawn*

my once a month YT video....

Now I remember why i avoid these guys so much.

  • If libs keep blocking drilling, than prices will keep going up, Clinton put the veto on a bill allowing drilling in Alaska, we would be getting over 1 million barrels each day had he not been a moron.

  • This moron left the united states with a surplus and gas prices were relatively low.

  • BBC (britisch tv) is airing the life of Saddam Hussein as a soap. How about doing that for Hitler? What does that say abot the british?

  • saddam ( whom america but in power ) and iraq were a third world country thanks to 10 years of sanctions after the first iraq war. which may i add kuwait was part of iraq before america drew a line through it and renamed it after the second world war. germany was one of the most powerfull nations on earth at that time. it says about the british we are educated but dumbing down just like you

  • "elbow from the sky" drilling is only killing

  • Give us a link to the alternative energy poll.

  • polls don't matter and here's why. They're never accurate and every research organization can find a poll that suits what they want to argue for. In the end, your common sense is the best opinion you'll have.

  • The Dems and the Young Turks have lost the argument on the off-shore drilling question. And it's hurting Obama's campaign. And before the haters start.... "I'm not Republican."

  • "I'm not Republican."

    But you are a dumbass.

  • The polls show a large majority want them to drill here. (over 70%) This country would like to support many plans, because we know that energy independence is the key to a lot of our problems. So drill, build nuclear power plants, wind, solar, clean coal, etc. Just don't do "nothing" like the dems have done so far. It's one of the 2 leading issues right now, and national polls have shown McCain gaining ground because of it. Do some research before you troll.

  • Did you listen to the video at all...

Nationalize the oil companies and then we'll talk. Just like Norway did, you know that country that makes about $10K more per capita and has a lower gini index and has universal healthcare...

Investing in energy technologies besides oil is all that is needed to solve this problem. No gifts to the oil companies needed. As someone that worked for Schlumberger I can safely say they have enough money already.

  • studio7manga.............nope! Check out the new bipartisan "Energy Independence Bill". Urge your representatives to support it. It's the right thing for our country.

  • No thanks.

  • LMAO! "I drink your milkshake"

    from There Will Be Blood

  • Why you have to give your land for drilling to oil companies!?

Why you don't just sell this rights in open market?!

Think this way, you have a land and you want to build a hotel to make profit, so isn't it better to put making the hotel into tender?

I can't really understand why you give your land for 16% percent of profit to oil companies when those companies already get something like 16% to do the same job in other countries!?

  • because the politicians dont give a flying fuck about the people of america. They get money from the lobbies and they let the companies rob America. McCaine has the oil lobby's fist jammed so far up his ass that you can some times see the knuckles when he talks.

  • Dude you make up more shit than an anus.

  • ....and then Ted Stevens gets indicted

    wah wah waaaaaaaaaah

  • It takes time to put up the rigs. Start drilling discover and refine the oil. I heard 10 years before we see lower prices. Lets keep looking for alternatives. People are buying scooters left and right in my area. We are catching on. Screw big oil.

  • your just saying that on the internet because you know you won't be immediately smacked in the mouth. Now try that statement in public.

    i dare ya

  • GOP the party of oil company profits.

  • who else from the UK watches this show?

  • Me, however I am not british. They should do a show like that UK style. I am sure it would be even more hardcore.

  • don't you think they should put back the original air time, it was at 8-12 here in the UK and now it starts at 3 in the morning

  • I am still waiting on my past due checks... anyone else waiting on your cut?

  • as long as they don't cut my eyes out i'm happy

  • Today, Senate Democrats announced that they intend to roll over on new drilling because people are upset about high gas prices, and heaven forbid they get tagged with responsibility for them in November.

What they don't realize is that the oil companies don't want these leases so they can drill- they want to lock p these leases so no one else can drill. How does increasing supply benefit the oil companies? It doesn't. They are balancing supply with the price the markets will bear.

  • and the billions of dollars big oil owes us already for drilling on public land, however measly the 12-16%...no one in our fuckin' government is collecting it. ya believe that shit?

  • well yeah... but it's gonna take some time to develop those alternatives and get everything running properly. al gore set a goal of a decade or so, but until then...

i think we should drill now to lower gas prices in the near future... Believe me, i want alternatives asap, but big goals take time. why not use the oil we have as a bridge to that future?

  • Because oil is a form of poison. It is literally destroying the planet. And you want just a little more? Come on!

  • This is why I subscribe to TYT. They tell it like it really is. Cenk should run for senate. lol

  • Put up wind mills in my back yard please!

  • What funny is the Democrats will probably still cave in and let the oil companies drill some way or another.

  • Gas prices up because upon occupation, the USA shut off MOST of Iraq's production of oil

supply down = price up to appease the Saudis who had threatened to refuse cheap US Dollars, (i.e., US Petro Dollar Cycle)

  • outshore drilling will not help to lower the price of gasoline becouse, we also need to build refanaries. Cenk is right, they are trying to put in peoples mind that drilling is the only solution to lower gas prices, but it is only to give big companies the rights of drilling.

  • especially when majority of enriched oils is leading toward the GAS STATIONS BELONGING TO THOSE ARABIAN COUNTRIES.

Seriously almost all materials are from foreign countires, where is the American Made things or at least materials from trusted countries (ex. Japan, UK)

  • I'm so glad 76% of americans ain't buying that shit. 5 stars cenk.

  • God Bless, Go forward....Have at it, Hoss!

Wow, I've never heard Cenk say that before! LOL

  • 1:33 ish Cenk makes a freudian slip and almost says "awful office"

  • Jul 14th 2008 Bush lifts executive ban on deep sea oil drilling price of oil $145 a barrel.

    Jul 29th 2008 price of oil $122 a barrel.

No new drilling has even started on "protected" areas but the price has unexpectedly and dramatically dropped since the lifting of the ban.

As you said, "Americans are not stupid".

  • Too bad Bush and oil companies themselves stated that "it would take up to 20 years to start drilling and gas prices would not be effected until then"

  • I believe the word is that it will take five years for the oil to hit the market which begs the question, what were our politicians doing five years ago? In 2002 Bush was asking the Senate to lift a ban on drilling in ANWAR, Democrats and a few "moderate" Republicans (McCain included) refused to lift the ban. Why the hostility towards oil companies? I would rather see American Companies make record profits than lay people off and lose money.

  • 5 stars.

  • I'm sorry, but that...

"I drink YOUR milkshake!" That's just hiLARious!

    hahaha!

    hmmm

  • Why don't we take away some of their rights?

  • "drill here, drill now" = retards!

  • people fail to realize that we can drill all we want on american soil and offshore, and we will not get the oil. the oil companies own it and will sell it to the highest bidder, most likely China. so the oil companies win, not the american public.

  • I think you are giving Americans too much credit. Green Day was right, American idiots.

  • Why do American Companies sell the oil they drill out of Alaska?

  • Just to add a little tidbit as to why politicians would want to make oil cmpanies richer.

well its the lobbyist agenda, republicans back oil companies becuase while they are in office they recieve millions for upholding company ideas in washington and when they lose their seats in office or quit. they become ceo's of those same oil comapnies and get hella rich(er)

you can figure out the rest, but nowhere in that is america benefitting

  • Then stop watching! Wow, thats pretty hard.

  • But...HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH!!!!

  • Water. We are against Shale Oil because of water. It just takes too much.

  • "I Drink Your Milkshake"... Fkn lol.

  • Diesel can be made from natural gas, coal, biodiesel which can be transported using already existing infrustructure which would have made USA fuel independent long time ago. The lack of gov action of fuel diversification is an excuse to create the dependecy and an excuse to start wars in the middle east.

  • Well the definantly can't use the whole "offshore energy is envirmentaly safe", after the oil spill.

  • Cenk is awesome

  • what programs do you like? really, i'm curious...

  • i know using facts that dont agree with the narrative of the gop and oil companies... how awful!

  • I have a question. OIL is not unlimited correct?. It will end up running out one day, after all of it has been slurped up out the earth..... How will the WORLD, not just America function once oil has run out?. ALSO, when is it expected to run out, especially as human civilization becomes more advanced and growing i am sure will speed it up?

  • Well Obama's alternative energy isn't READY yet. We need time.

  • 80%? Naw, let's change the rights. They can put up windmills.

  • Oil companies do drill on land they're given but it doesn't mean they're always successful (in finding oil). And given that China and Cuba are drilling 90 miles off our shore, I don't see why we can't. I'm probably part of the majority who thinks we should drill for some oil as part of the solution to our energy, and I'd also fit in majority in that I believe we should be doing all we can to move past oil and develop and use alternative energy even more.

  • In Alberta alone? Alberta IS Canadian oil.

  • The revolution, start the revolution!!

  • Cenk.....You talk too much!!!!!!!

  • The US government seems like a funnel that takes US assetts and wealth and pumps it into the rich people's pockets.

  • Love the milkshake ref! Reps didn't count on someone like Pickens undercutting then. MoveOn should forget the baby chick dippy ad and run some with the oil spill on the Mississippi--and why McCain really cancelled his trip to the oil rig. Put the nail on the coffin of this issue.

  • Oil in America? Let the free market decide! Government needs to stop dictating what America uses for fuel!

LEGALIZE HEMP! Hemp Ethanol is 400% more efficient than corn ethanol.

  • People will use hemp for oil? Really? Now Japanese water only runed car> awesome idea!

  • do a quick search on youtube or google. Its unbelievable that industrial hemp is still illegal. (I do also support medicinal cannabis but its not the same breed)

  • The US Politicians percentages take up the remainder 20-30%.

The Clintons, the REPIGZ, the NEOCONZ and all so-called "Free Traders" in the US Congress are big on that frenzy.

  • Fuck Big Oil, I'm getting an Electric Car.

  • Down with big oil, up with big coal?

  • Even if you get your Electricity for an Electric Car from coal fire plants, that will actually put less Carbon Dioxide into the atmosphere than gasoline does in a regular Internal Combustion Engine.

Go and watch "Who Killed the Electric Car?" if you wanna learn more.

  • Obama is gonna kill McCain in the debates!! Who you gonna believe about alternative energies...McCain or Obama?

    Yeah, I thought so.

    :-p

  • Neither.
