not really, Charlie was speaking a form of italo-romanian. NY was full of Romanian jews, and some of them were in show bizz, like Avram Goldfaden, and Aaron Lebedeff. Lebedef actualy never knew a correct romanian or english. He had romanian statements like "te iubesc de ma spargesc" (I love you, and I will brook), and english statements like "I love she". He used this romanian-yiddish-english pidgin language. Charlie used romanian, a little italian, no yiddish, and one or two french words
