  • Impressive! I think this is the largest vase I have every seen thrown as a single piece. I've seen larger vases, but they were thrown in parts and then combined.

  • wow you grabbed the water really fast.........were you raging?

  • We ALL need longer arms...

  • be careful, you might get a hernia doin' that man. haha lol

  • awesome job!

  • do you have to press so hard

  • What the....

    The pot was tilted.

How did you recenter it w/o killing it?

    D=

  • @fuzzlefluff When you make bigger stuff and center it really well to begin (because there is a lot of clay) it wants to stay centered if you aren't crazy with it.

  • stop putting yourself down, gosh.

  • But how much kilo's of clay are you using for that ? Many thanks and absolutely amazing !!!

  • amazing

  • I am grateful for your posts. I've been working on vases for a while and learned a ton by watching.

  • Wow if you look at it from a technically stand point you took like 3 inches from around the clay and made it to what a foot and a half to 2 feet?

  • very impressive. i'm trying to throw taller these days, but at my college we're limited on clay =( great work though! keep it up!

  • halo,

How utuch clay do you use for this? NICE WORK!!!

  • i must have a different throwing style than you because i love harder clay, of course, not to a ridiculous length but, i find harder clay easier to throw thinner and taller.

  • I agree. though harder clay is often less plastic (and requires alot of rib-compression), it holds its form nicer than softer clay for larger pieces

  • how much clay did you use there?

  • Hi Dan, Nice vase. I have had problems with the hard stoneware too. Sometimes I will heat up a wet towel in a microwave a few minutes. Wrap the clay ball with the towel ,the wet towel heated will help soften that clay

  • Hi Dan, I enjoy you're videos and I know you're dad is proud of the work you are doing.I will try and make that lidded storage jar soon. Keep up the great work! Harry the Potter

  • Not a thing wrong with it from here! Cool vid as always.

  • Nice. It may not have turned out "exactly" as you planned, but it looks far better than anything I could ever hope to throw... and I have long arms. lol

  • I think it looks great! Your videos are fun to watch, no talking, not too long and they get right to the most important parts...I really enjoy watching them!

  • The clay was much too hard to be trying to make a big pot.

I just couldn't get it narrower at the base.

I just had a go with the last lump of the day which had dried out a bit.

I'll have another go with some softer clay soon and try to throw a really good one.

    Cheers,Dan

  • @youdanxxx
