Definately got the Crosby, Stills, Nash + Young element mixed with other sounds of the late 60's + early 70's...Seals + Croft, America, Joni Mitchell etc. Sounds Beautiful !
@echtvanmij yeah! the Byrds way before... even a tiny touch of America at their very begining (1971-73) ... crosby still nash maybe ...other names ? ...
Much More than an Indie band. These guys have been putting it out album after album for a decade now. Getting better with age and always a different element to their sound with each album. Some of the best rock musicians out today without question.
I especially like the two short scenes in which this person has the (wolf?) mask on, seen from the side, and the sun is shining into the camera. Combined with the music, it has a beautifully mysterious feel to it.
@morbels waooowww... blue oyter cult... surely not the cult sound of 1981... you're talkin' about the 1st blue oyster album from 1971 probably...
the challenge is to find new 60s 70s bands that the coral reminds us except those who are already said...
so i will say the Hollies of 1967 ... and maybe a little bit of millenium (68) ...honnestly i'm not completely satisfied with those 2 bands, 'cause z connection between them and the coral are a little bit less evident than with byrds, csny etc...
@morbels yeah i know... we have already talk about the main influ... but Steppenwolf is a damn good choice for the guitar solo! a few years ago i was really into their wild music ..."rock me" is one of my fave
I hear this song the first time on my holiday in 08.2010 in Denmark radio !!! WOW !!! Ups, 70`s ??!! I´m a specelist, I think. C,S.N. & Y. with a little bit of Jefferson Airplane. OK, the acoustic guitar is later. I find it just her. Great Song !!! I hear more at Coral, so lala, but this song is very fantastic !! Back to the roots. Please more !
Heard this song on the radio not knowing who it was. Finally found the song that is suprisingly from the Coral. I really thought it was from a 60s band.
@weide1 The Byrds... that must've been what I thought of when I heard this song. I just couldn't place it. I thought of the Mamas and the Papas at first.
Yeh. One of the best bands out of the UK in the last 10 years. I can think of quite a few others who don't deserve those tags. I won't mention any names but I'm sure you know who they are....
a sort of early fucked up America... or a 1969 single of the Byrds who never existed - Imagine the Byrds with Hillmand and Crosby still in the band in 1969 ... Excellent single... Coral made a great return !
I had the pleasure of meeting James Skelly (Lead singer) and Paul Duffy (Guitarist) when I saw them live on the 19th, was a moment I've waited for for over 8 years, YOU FUCKING LEGENDS!!!!!!!
This is just fucking gorgeous...Video ain't great but the song is incredibly beautiful...Sounds like the La's moved to Laurel Canyon...Intro is a stunner...Vocal harmony almost killed me and then the drums kicked in...Astonishing tune...It takes me to another place
absolutely love this tune! brilliant this is the album iv'e been waiting for them to make this album and songs like this magic and medicine hinted at it but butterfly house runs with it! did someone say this was similar to a beta band video can anyone tell me which one ?
Went to see them last night at Sheperds Bush Empire and they were wicked. They definitely have not received the recognition they deserve.Very tight band with a very high level of muscianship
Amazing song. I actually thought it was a rare Crosby, Stills and Nash track. A fantastic homage to the west coast sound. In contrast the video is a terrible, shameless rip off of The Beta Bands 'Inner meet me' set in a more exotic location.

A good song, but it doesn't feel like The Coral at all. What the hell happened to this band post Invisible Invasion? Granted I didn't like all their old material but most of it had a unique and mysterious sound that I thought would stay with them. It was THEIR sound. It started disappearing on Roots. Butterfly H however have no such magic, just samey folk pop songs that makes the band sound like most indie/wanna-be sixties bands. I'm all for experimenting but don't remove your fundamental style!
Excellent song, great harmonies, the video itself is cool and that guitar solo.....sounds like something Jorma Kaukonen would have played during Jefferson Airplane days, which is just fine with me! Showing your influences is the most sincere form of flattery.
theres a free download of Butterfly House on their website....looking forward to the new album...this has a late 60s west coast feel to it....they must have been listening to Jefferson airplane if that solo is anything to go by
The Coral are the most underrated band in the UK. Hopefully the Butterfly House album will be a big success for them. Definitely song of the year so far.
