Thank you for sharing this with us and for risking it all for what we all believe in. I wish there were more people like Sgt. Gilyeat and yourselves.

  • Thank you. And thank for watching!

  • After serving for our country as an MA3 in the Navy I appreciate even more all who have served. When I saw this video I felt even more proud knowing we have men like Sgt. Gilyeat leading our men and protecting our country. Thank you for this video.

  • I watched this episode, but thank you for the behind the scene look. Thank you Marines for all I can say is being MArines.

  • I think that this has to be the most amazing man I have ever seen in my life!! Not to mention he is extremly handsome!! Is he still single?? Watching him with his children brought tears to my eyes!! We need more men like him in this world. I would love the opportunity to talk to him! Anybody out there now how I can contact him?

  • This is a cool story. What a strong person and Marine. I hope your home is meeting your needs! Semper Fi Brother.

  • While I didn't get to serve with SSgt. Gilyeat in Iraq, I served with him in the same motorpool at 24th Marines before he was mobilized with TOW platoon. During the months we worked together, I got to know him well and we spent countless hours turning wrenches on HMMWVs, talking about everything. Everything from relationships to tattoos, to our careers in the Marine Corps. He has played a major role in my growth as, not only a Marine, but as a man. He'll always be a hero to me and the USMC.

  • Semper Fi brother!

  • @thenewbikers Semper Fi.

  • do you know how old is he and where is he living ? and what is he doing now? thank you very much

  • if u dont mind me asking, what is your real name?

    danny is my cousin btw

  • I wouldn't disclose that information on the internet. Ask him, he knows who I am. Tell him the I.E.D. Hunter goof ball guy said hi!

  • I will tell you my real name If you tell me or tell our cousin to contact me.....I truly think he is an angel here on earth!

  • i had the privilage to watch the gilyeat family and was very touched to see how they took into consideration all the kids needs but how they took daniels needes and made him a dream home. daniel thank you from my family we need more heroes like you, not just because of your service time but as a roll model to all the fathers out there. your a very strong person don't ever change

Daniel and I am so proud of you keeping your children all together in the long run it will pay off. I would also like to know if he is single. This is a awsome video.

  • Nice video. By the way since you served with him and all... what I want to know is he still single? He is hot and inside and out. What was his ex thinking?

  • I think Daniel Gilyeat is an exceptional man and father way to go I am a single parent my ex spent to tours in iraq when we were married I know what its like to wait and worry but Daniel keep up the good work

  • Oops, Feb 10, 2007! I didn't think about this being out of date six months later. Whoops! They may run it again though.

  • Oh Well, it was sure good to know and a damn good production at that.

  • Congratulations Ssgt! I am a fellow service member too, and he deserved EVERYTHING he got, plus more. I cannot believe his wife just up and divorced him after all that he has done for our country. I wish him nothing but the best. Now that he has a new life with his kids and a new home, I hope his ex-wife stays away. Congrats again, Ssgt. We all love you!!!

  • Thank you, and thanks for taking the time to watch!

  • does anyone know where i can get the link to see the episode? my husband actually served with him in iraq and its something we both really want to see. Congratulations Sgt.

  • that was such a good episode, i was crying for a good part of it. Both you and Sgt. Gilyeat are blessed to come home safe. Thank You.

P.S. Im kinda jealous that you got to help out on that show, They do great things for people all the time.

  • I'm glad that you were able to see the show. It was amazing to be able to be a part of helping. They really do an amazing job with pulling everything together.

Thank you for your wonderful comment!

  • With you helping out, they could've had it done in two days. Afterall, you built a deck in five minutes, and a bathroom in three. They did some great work, glad he got the new home.

  • A whole house? After watching them put that house up, I feel like I'm going to need to speed things up a bit. They did an amazing job!

  • WOW! Outstanding! /5

    *****5 Paws Up*****

  • Long live america !

Sg. Daniel sounds like a great person !

I wish him all the very best !

  • He is a great guy, I'm lucky to know him. Thank you for all of your support!

  • Dude, you are the absolute best. I am so proud to have men like yourself and Sgt. Gilyeat protecting the very soil I live on. You are such an honest and kind person, and I wish there were a better way to express those feelings besides over YouTube. But for now, God Bless you, your family, and the Gilyeats for everything you have all gone through. By the way, I support every single American soldier we have. Thank you, and all the others who serve the United States.

  • Well we are very proud and honored to have people like you backing us up. We thank you for all of your support, and your wonderful comment. And thank you for subscribing as well!

  • Do you happen to have any other videos about the makeover? I watched the whole show but can't actually find it on here. My favorite part is when Tye shows Sgt. Gilyeat the flag pole. Do you have that or have you seen it on here? Thanks so much!

  • I have some additional footage of the house itself, but I chose not to include it as I did not want to have issues with ABC for violating any broadcasting rights. I may or may not do another follow up video. Most of the footage that I have is redundant or still imaging, and probably not too terribly interesting. We'll see what happens.

You may try the ABC website, or the Extreme Makeover Home Edition website for full episodes.

    Thank you for watching though.

  • @Rach8348 Sorry, I know the scene you are talking about, but I don't know where to find it.

  • I am so happy that the Gilyeat family got a new home! They deserved it! I also want to thank you along with the rest of the military for all of the hard work and sacrifices you all make! You guys have nothing but respect from me!Thanks for posting the video. This truly is my favorite episode of all of the makeovers. Thanks again! God bless our troops!

  • ooo my god man do you realize how lucky you are! ahaha thats cool man happy for you and happy this man that served our country was rewarded such a great prize.

  • Thank you. Yes he is a great guy!

  • The show was so great! I had my friends and family tune in.

  • Excellent, thank you very much!

  • there is the video if you can make him see it. it would be an honor for me and my son!!

    angel for you!!

  • I do not have any influence with the show, but I will forward the video to SSgt Gilyeat for you!

    Thank you for watching!

  • thank you, you made my day I can wait to tell my son and my wife. God bless you!!

  • Sgt. Daniel Gilyeat very much deserved that house. He's a wonderful person, and an outstanding father. Our country is lucky to have him.

  • He is an awesome Marine and a great father!

    Thank you for watching!

  • watching the EMHE on Sgt Gilyeat's family was not only heartwarming and tearjerking, but it brought to me a new meaning of SEMPER FIDELIS. he most definitely deserved that new house!

  • Semper Fi = always faithful, faithful to the Corps, our country, and our families.

    Thank you for watching!

  • I was in tears. What an amazing hero, not only for his service but for his coping skills and the fact that he can be such a loving father. I hope that when i marry and have a family, my husband will act the same way with our children, loving and nuturing no matter what problems he has in his personal life. I can only hope my children love their father that much as well. God Bless him and his children as he has blessed us with his service and sacrifice.God Bless the Marine Corps and America!

  • He is a rare wonderful person. A hero for all. Thank you for your kind words.

    Thank you for watching!

  • that was a great show, I cried my eyes out...and he seems very deserving and a great father...

  • They did a great job of putting the show together, and an excellent account of telling his story. He's a great man.

    Thank you for watching!

  • he didnt let you in the house eh?

  • I had to be careful of what footage I showed. Considering the number of posted signs that said cameras were not allowed on site, I felt lucky to have permission to get the footage that I did. Inside and outside of the house had to be kept under wraps until the show aired.

    Thank you for dropping in!

  • i am honored to have meet this man on tv. he is a hero!!

    Angel for you!!

  • He's a great man. Thanks for watching the show!

  • hoorah??? not that oohrah, but like everyone said i truely believed it should not have been anyone other than sgt gilyeat. A single father of four young children and a disabled combat marine vet, a truely a hero.

  • Yeah, I caught that too, but hey, at least Ty was trying.

They were having a tough time in that tiny old house, but things will be so much easier for them now in a new environment.

Thank you so much for watching!

  • I can't think of anyone more deserving than this man and his family. God bless America, The Marine Corps and the Gilyeat family.

  • Thank you, and bless you as well. Thanks for your support, and thank you for watching!

  • I cried the whole show too. Sgt. Gilyeat deserved it. God bless him and every other Marine, as well as everyone in our armed forces. Oorah!

  • It was a very touching two hours of T.V. They did a great thing in putting all of this together. Thank you for your support, and thank you for watching!

  • I just watched the show an hour ago and just wanted to let you know what a touching episode that was. I had never watched the show before, but in the previews there was something in Daniel's eyes that just made me want to watch. I saw an incredible warmth in his eyes, and watching the episode confirmed that he is not only a extremely caring man, but a strong one as well. He trully is an amazing man and a amazing father. God Bless you and your family Daniel =)

  • I'm very glad you decided to check it out. I've often said that you can see the softness in his eyes, and the thunder in his heart. he's a great guy, and I'm lucky to know him.

    Thank you for watching!

  • I just watched the show and it was truely touching. i cried throughtout half of the show, lol

  • It was very well done. They did a great job of telling his story. Thank you for watching!

  • I just finished watching the Episode here in Hawaii. It's very touching and inspiring. It actually made me cry , things that I don't used to just watching the show. It's just so wonderful to hear so inspiring story from a very brave, courageous and strong single father. I may not be an American but it's my pleasure to say to Sgt. Gilyeat that I' so proud of him...Jacqui here from a Hawaii...Please LifeseyesFilms, if you personally know this guy.. tell him "I thank him for the inspiration.."

  • They did a great job with it! Thank you for your support, and thanks for watching! I will pass on your message!

  • OOHRAH

  • Oohrah back at cha! Thanks for watching!

  • wow. That was absolutely amazing and inspiring. I cannot believe that one person can actually have so much strength, courage, and honor. It is so life-touching to see the changes that one person can make. He is a truly remarkable person. (I just watched the show.) GOD BLESS THE U.S. MARINES BOTH HEERE AND IN IRAQ. Keep on fighting!

  • I feel honored to know him. He is truly amazing, and an inspiration to those around him.

    Thank you for watching!

  • I just watched the show - Sgt. Daniel Gilyeat is an incredible man, dad, and Marine. The buildteam leader said it best when he said that Sgt. Gilyeat gave his leg for me and you. Truth rings from every word in that sentence. I'm very glad ABC chose Sgt. Gilyeat. He deserves a lot more than a beautiful home. My dad was a Marine. I'll always have a special place in my heart for all you guys that put yourself on the line every day for ordinary people like me. Thank you and God Bless you!

  • Thank you very very much for the wonderful comment!

    And thank you for watching!

  • Words are the least I can give. I only hope that through my actions I honor the brave soldiers that defend me, fight for me and who have died for me. These Marines are skilled fighting machines but yet are caring and delicate fathers, bros, moms, humans. The most touching part of the show for me was of the Marine in his dress uniform, little emotion shown on his face while the tears streamed down his cheeks. That, my friend, proves our Marines care and share a bond most will never understand.

  • Dude, you should soooo show Ty Pennington up on some house improving skills. :P

  • I can't wait to see what they edit in to show "how hard he worked on the job site", but I know for a fact that I did more work on that house than he did. It's pretty funny, you don't see much of the celebrities until all the dust clears and cameras are rolling, then they pop out of the woodwork, adjust their makeup and hair to look like they've been working, and "lights, camera, action...", "whooh! we've been working soo hard!"

    What ever...

    Enjoy the show!

  • Thanks for letting all of us know this is going to be on. I'm definately going to watch! It's wonderful to see people doing extraordinary things for our soldiers and Marines. We owe them so much more. Thanks again!

You look great in uniform by the way :o)

  • Absolutely! Thank you for dropping in!

    Enjoy the show.

  • God love all you Marines! I wish you were running these unlike you-elections, and keeping these candidates as focused on helping others as much as they are only helping themselves! Nicholas

  • Thank you!

    We really appreciate you support!

  • Wow...this is so great! I haven't watched Extreme Makeover Home Edition in forever but I'll definitely tune in on Sunday.

  • It should be a good one. Two hours!

  • What a wonderful video you have put together here! Am so impressed with the music and the editing job...you're masterful at this art and getting better at each one you do! Glad your friend was honored with a home makeover...must have been really wonderful to be able to help him out that way. Thanks for the heads up on this Sunday's show. It's on my calendar.

  • Hey, you may even get to see me on t.v.! Just kidding. If I am, they probably had to bleep out every other word I said. I tend to revert back to a potty mouth when I'm around my Marines. I can't wait to see the show!

    Thanks for watching!

  • Really looking forward to the show and hopefully you will be in one of the shots that's on tv... there you will be, hitting the bleepin nail with that bleepity bleep hammer... lol

  • wow man the show couldn't have picked a better person to make over a house god bless him

  • He was one my heroes from the moment I met him. He used to build hot-rods and do tattoos for a living. How freakin' cool is that?

  • I am am glad that he gets a new house and it damn sounds like he deserves it! I can't wait to watch the show!

  • It's a two hour show. He is such a great person. I can't wait to see it.

  • will do thank you to you and all vets

  • Thank you so much!
