The things that the US gets from Canada (oil which you mentioned) are essential to life. The biggest of which isn't even oil, but fresh water which is worth more per galloon then oil. Canada is one of the only countries on the planet that could be completely self sufficient on resources.

I am aware of the electricity we get from them but again we don't need it. We have the ability to produce it ourselves, every day where I live I see dormant wind mills because the power they are producing isn't needed. It's actually more complex than that, I won't go into too much detail, but say something called a non-confidence vote happens when a piece of legislature doesn't pass, unlike most countries, we actually dissolve parliament, and thus our federal government. Well I am enjoying my free health care and not having to worry that if I had a major illness I would not spend the rest of my life trying to pay it off. I would still have my home and my land. The things that the US gets from Canada (oil which you mentioned) are essential to life. The biggest of which isn't even oil, but fresh water which is worth more per galloon then oil. Canada is one of the only countries on the planet that could be completely self sufficient on resources.

I am aware of the electricity we get from them but again we don't need it. We have the ability to produce it ourselves, every day where I live I see dormant wind mills because the power they are producing isn't needed.
