Meditation is about deconditioning. This means removing programmed-conditioned behaviors- eg. associating emotions to external actions/reactions/events. Meditation is done in a way that silences the entire "thought-up" human condition for a desired time frame. This, over years, results in enlightenment. The mind becomes featherweight and no longer uses association. Pure, stable, emotion, ready to be turned into which ever emotion you want at anytime through the altering of ones perceptions.

I could look at someone being hateful and alter my perceptions of it and turn it into altruistic love by telling myself that said person is simply emotionally unaware or uneducated. I am Buddhist.
