I, too, am a stevia lover, especially in cocktails. So much so I created Simply Simple, a stevia based simple syrup so I didn't have to boil and stir anymore. :) It's currently available for purchase at Kegworks.
Stevia, when sold under brand names that highly purify it, is bad for you. The FDA does not have evidence guaranteeing the safety of non-Reb A whole-leaf stevia.
@HISTORY460 "The FDA does not have evidence guaranteeing the safety of non-Reb A whole-leaf stevia."
The FDA guaranteed the safety of Fen-phen.
In short, the FDA will declare anything safe if they are bribed enough by a company to do it, and will declare anything dangerous if bribed enough by a company to do it.
The only reason Stevia "might be dangerous" is because it competed against aspartame (NutraSweet ®), made by Monsanto. Stevia has been used for centuries.
@HISTORY460 No it's not, PURE Stevia is completely safe and delicious. Nutra Sweet, Aspertame, Splenda Sweet n Low, are all bad for you. Truvia is also bad for you, but again I'll say that PURE Stevia extract powder is completely SAFE=).
This stuff is a lifesaver for people who are trying to watch their weight, it helps a lot with sugar addiction too because so long as you dont use too much it tastes just like sugar, it gives you that hit without the cals

And still, life expectancy is 70 or so in the developed world, but where the water has no chlorine, no flouride and no lead, it's what - 40?
