The thing about needing wind is incorrect. Thats what the cooling system is for. Even air cooled bikes have a cover and fins to make the air move and keep them cool.
@OneShotKill3r The circulating coolant moderates heat throughout the engine. Often there are electric fans that spin up once the engine is up to temperature to keep the radiator and coolant at safe temperatures.
@GarytwiggisGOD I'm 18 and I've collected a fair amount of money over the past 5 years. I'll get my license in about 1.5 month (in my country) and going to buy myself a 250 even if my parents are against it. Because other people can't tell you what to do with your money.
@GarytwiggisGOD no point thinking about it now as your 13 and in 4 years time when you can get a fill bike licence the laws may change so wait until your a little older man...
@MrMinevlog It might even be changing for you... there thinking of instead of the restriction on bhp they are trying to make it so you go up in cc at 2 year intervals ... so to get a 1000cc it could take 6 years @garytwiggisGOD
@daimyoD You will hear it, when you star the engine, especially the winder, its make a lot of sound, after 1 or 1,5 min, the sound disapear, ( its like it doesn't work ). I hope i helped.
I actually saw only 3 video's of you and im only 16 and i want to buy a moped dont know how the call it but if i buy one i also wanna have 1 with shift so this is for me already an lesson and i gonna subscribe way more time's thx !
@33rdSniper It's called a manual transmission. Buy a scooter with an automatic (one that shifts for you) because a manual scooter would just be annoying to ride.
Best way to warm up a motorcycle engine is to do this set of steps. Start your bike and just let it idle. While this is going on, check your lights, brakes, etc...... make sure everything is working properly. Then, begin putting on your riding gear, coat, helmet, gloves. By this point, the bike is warmed enough to ride. Enjoy!
@13mordeth 13mordeth i have a 50cc scooter and i live in the uk it is a speed fight 3 and its done just over 500 miles i bort it brandnew. without derestricting it whitch well void my warrenty as im only 16 how can i make it go faster baring in mind i have done NO custom editing on it! thanks
@MrMinevlog haha I live in Sweden and here we can ride 125cc motorcycles at 16 years old age (I have a 125cc, Im 16). But anyway, you cant make it go faster without removing the restrictions.
@ossameidireza look at any manual/google your bikes model and look at the carborator layout. On a carborator you will have a pilot or airscrew which controls the gas or air in the mixture. If your bike has one carb then find the screw and turn it out half a turn and try to turn it over. Keep repeating this untill your bike runs fine. If you have 2 carbs or more i would highly recommend taking your bike to a dealer and have them adjust and sync the carbs which is a pretty quick job.
Crap, Ive been starting my 2007 Honda CG 125 with full choke (and even little revs at times) since i got it (1 month ago).. Id let it warm up for a minute or 2 and then as soon as i exit my street id full throttle it... Thanks M13, now I know how to NOT fuck up my bike every day!
i like this video my Kawasaki Z750 has a temp gauge and i let it get to 60 degrees plus but event at 70 sometimes it makes a fucking awful metal grinding noise when i move off? can't be good.
It's not neccessarily a big deal. It just adds a little bit of work on your part, because you have to manually adjust the RPMs on startup through the choke. Carbs also have slightly less throttle response and gas mileage, but again it's not a huge problem at all. The throttle response is actually quite good if you're a beginner. Carbs also take a bit longer to warm up.
@oi565 no idea... but about warming up a scooter... i don't think there is a specific way, if its a modern one, just start and drive... don't full throttle is the first few miles...
thanks for posting these videos, im really interested in bikes and since ive never riden one before ive always been curious and you explain everything really well :)

quick word of advice that at least is right for cars, I assume it's the same for bikes... when the engine revs up like you said, the minute after you start. It's best to just tap the gas, so it resets and goes completely idle again. This is because the higher RPM are in face not good for the cold, and stationary bike.
Once you've done that I believe (not sure about this, some people say so) its actually better to start driving right away like you said...
@ScottyIbanez because of the position of the engine. it has a low center of gravity. the first time you get on a bike (not a big one!), lean the bike ever so slighty until it starts to feel heavy and you can see what i mean. Stop and right the bike again unless you want to drop it.
@daimyoD just tpuch the radiator (in italian it's radiatori.. they are the cooling system).. when they are slightly hot your bike is well warmed and you can run.. if your scooter is air cooled, just wait a minute warming it with no moving, just acellerating ad braking, no moving. then, go about 5 minutes at half accelleration, then, you can gradually run!

Here's my two cents: you do need to warm up your bike and ride it easy for the first mile, farther if it's a cold day. Your bike, which I'm guessing is the same as one of mine, a kawasaki 650r sport tourer, should be set to idle at around 1450rpm. That's what I have mine set to, according to spec. You do know about bikes so you probably have a good reason why you have it set to idle at lower rpms, or simply no reason not to. Great vid, keep'em coming.
holky shit what kind of drivers do you have there? You nearly got that blue hatchback! Youre correct about the warm up BTW, The top of the piston gets hot and scores the cylinder wall.
Thank you! 1 l1ve 1n cold weather cond1t1ons and 1 haven't gotten a b1ke yet (1 plan to) and th1s 1s good 1nfo! Don't wanna f--k up my eng1ne r1ght off the bat, r1ght?
so it will not harm my Bike (Ninja 250R) if i drive it every morning and evening about 3,5 km with highest speed of 60km/h ? (morning first 600 meters or so 30km/h)
Oil pressure is very high on most engine applications and flows quite quickly. For example my instruction in university told me that he has seen people forget to install the drain plug on a engine oil pan and in a matter of seconds 4 liters of oil is on the floor.
Basically oil circulates very rapidly, it is responsible for approx 30 percent of cooling in most engines.
Just don't disregard letting the engine warm up quickly, 13,000 rpm on a sport bike can spell problems.
ive got a harley wg, with a s&s twin cam 88....i just changed the enricher plug out for a new one (just bought the bike) and the original one was stuck from yrs of sitting. So its an air cooled engine and when i started it up the rpms were maxed, so i killed it...readjusted the carb (its not fuelinjected) so i did this a few times while dialing it in, and now i have it purrrfect idling at 950 to 1050 (righjt for this motor) being that its aircooled, i SHOULDNT have done dammage??
But what it's a carb bike, no injection, with liqud cooled engine and a low temperature, like 5 ti 10 degrees Celcius?
Because I have to start mine with tho choke at max, and then push it a bit, and mentain a resonable rpm until it will stay at idle without choke and without stalling.
Even then it will not be heated. Btw, I have a Suzuki RF400(4cil,4stroke,carb)
I love it when people tell me they broke the engine in "the proper way" by babying it for the first 1000 miles. I can't help but reply; "Yep, you broke it alright!!" I still can't figure out why companies tell people to baby the engines? It's so stupid!!
Theres an easy way to se when your bike is warmed up, if you have a Yamaha FZ6-N or S model like I do. The revcounter will blink untill the engine is hot enough. Also yoy can tjeck the temp gage. If the temp gage has 2 bars out of 6, then the engine is hot enough:-).
lol the funniest part is when the people on the bike in front are looking back and think he starts pointing at something so they look then look back at him at 3:29
About the wind displacing the heat (btw i didnt really notice that before this vid) im guessing it would do it the same for a car but i could be wrong.
Have you always ridden these kinds of sporty bikes? When you first rode a bike and accelerated did you ever feel like you were sliding off the back? Or, like, starting to slide back uncomfortably? This is probably just a matter of gripping the bike properly and stuff, but would you have any comments on that? Also, how much experience do you have with cruisers and tourers? Either by way of friends or first hand experience? =)
@DumuRaL The first brand new bike I bought was a cruiser. I started off riding cruisers. But now that I've tried sports bikes...I probably won't get a cruiser again. Unless I'm rich and get one as a 2nd bike.
totally right on the warming up. there are a lot of people who let their bike or car warm up stationary. But it wil do damage on long term, cause you need good wind distribution to the engine like you said ;)
The reason high tuned sports bikes do that is because when petrol (Gasoline) is cold, it doesn't vaporize as well, therefore, the engine runs rich and splutters under throttle (:
As soon as the engine heats up, it vaporizes well, burns evenly and you can use full throttle.
You live in Taiwan??

so it will not harm my Bike (Ninja 250R) if i drive it every morning and evening about 3,5 km with highest speed of 60km/h ? (morning first 600 meters or so 30km/h)

why trade a faster 600 for a ninja? just curious

Most engine wear occurs at start up.

ive got a harley wg, with a s&s twin cam 88....i just changed the enricher plug out for a new one (just bought the bike) and the original one was stuck from yrs of sitting.

How long do you suggest waiting for the engine to warm up during the winter.

Btw, I have a Suzuki RF400(4cil,4stroke,carb)

is the right side like the bike passing lane or why does everyone do that?
funkygunky1 1 year ago
LOL 2 or 3 km to go "hard" on it? Are you kidding?
I recommend: Start the bike, start driving right away (after 30sec is still OK) at least 10km on lower rpm's. I always do that with my Honda NTV 650.
Also had a Yamaha XJ600 '89 once. Don't even think about getting over 8000rpm with that bike unless you got 20-30km on your counter.
As you said: warming up your bikes engine is vital and extends the lifetime of a motorbike.

If the temp gage has 2 bars out of 6, then the engine is hot enough:-).
hofmarskal 1 year ago
Does this matter for really hot places? Such as places in western states?

lol the funniest part is when the people on the bike in front are looking back and think he starts pointing at something so they look then look back at him at 3:29

DumuRaL 1 year ago
@DumuRaL The first brand new bike I bought was a cruiser. I started off riding cruisers. But now that I've tried sports bikes...I probably won't get a cruiser again. Unless I'm rich and get one as a 2nd bike.

what's about water cooled engines?
ratfaty 1 year ago
@ratfaty Sure with water cooled as well. Bikes are designed to utilize wind flow as well as their water for cooling.
13mordeth 1 year ago
Wind to distribute the heat...You gotta be kidding...
glyuki 1 year ago
totally right on the warming up. there are a lot of people who let their bike or car warm up stationary. But it wil do damage on long term, cause you need good wind distribution to the engine like you said ;)
torfsstijn 1 year ago
LOL
Love the vids :p
torfsstijn 1 year ago
The reason high tuned sports bikes do that is because when petrol (Gasoline) is cold, it doesn't vaporize as well, therefore, the engine runs rich and splutters under throttle (:
As soon as the engine heats up, it vaporizes well, burns evenly and you can use full throttle.
