What material you use to make the stencils?

im new to stencils so could a stencil be made out cardboard or a heavy piece of paper? (it looks like you use some kind of paper for your stencils)

@slowmatt321 thick paper is definately the easiest if your doing a multilayer or your only going to use it a couple of times but if you want something that will last use transpariencies like the ones used on overhead projectors.

LOVE IT! what craft knives and paper do you use to get that kinda detail on your stencils? i use printer paper and it just rips or the paint bleads through the paper onto my wall
