this is the original version just sung by opera singers, if you buy the original score and get opera singers to sing it will sound like this.....
Although I dont like it I cant tell what they are saying the words near to be clear and crisp in this song because it is all about love and emotion and I could not get any of that from slurred words, sorry :(
it seems to fast and it seems to be done in a classical opera style which doesnt sound right either. they have good voices, but it doesnt suit the song or the feeling.
not to make u sound unknowledgable but Carreras actually recorded it this way with Te kanawa Under that baton of the composer himself.....i believe its the way he (Bernstein) had intended it to be ;)
ehm its good to know that you know what its all about, but not to make you sound like an idiot but it was my own opinion. And nothing factional like carrera's recording has any input to my opinion. :)
No fair point by both of you. It seems slightly misplaced the particular style of singing, but nonetheless if its what Bernstein intended then once can't argue. Perhaps its too much pop music thats hindering my musical tastes.
If they are not the right voices, then why did Leonard Bernstein (the composer, just in case you didn't know) hand pick Jose Carreras to sing Tony when he conducted a cover recording of West Side Story in the 80's?
again fair enough that you know about this sorta stuff. however i am only expressing my opinion and that is what the comment feature on youtube is for, so people can input their own opinion. stop being a geek
Again, as I said. Its the minimal vibrato in pop music (or at times complete lack of) that now makes unfortunately find this misplaced. It's completely my subjective opinion not my what I think it SHOULD be. Senor Carreras is however a great singer; you should hear his rendition of the Misa Criolla by Ramírez.
Well, I'm not a friend of heavy vibrato and definately not when singing in duets or with several voices. Carreras is one of the greatest tenors in the world, but this doesn't work out too good together with Andrea. Sorry, 3/5 stars.
Carreras is already sang this in the original cast and its already Carreras but the Soprano has terribly awful pronunciation!!! Being singer doesnt mean that you can assasinate the lyrics pronunciation. I am Tenor singer as well and I never write comments on youtube but I couldnt help itwhen I heard this one.
very nice

I've never known Jose to struggle with Gs before...not on the top of his game. Regardless, still a great performance.

Good, bad or mediocre; your numeric ratings are meaningless to everyone besides you.

I loved the orchestra but - sorry to say this - hated the singing. It's like these guys've never heard about WSS or even worse - this song.
