damn you play crappy! Seriously, i dont think he is a musician, but a hobo that just got some new clothes from line6 crew, and then he got 5 bucks for doing the review...
Ive had the spider jam and the JM4 and they are YES the same brain ,I dont think Line 6 was trying to keep this a secret (DUH) both have their benefits but the JM4 would be the winner for me because of its portability and the fact that it has its own built in footswitches (spider jam requires separate pedal purchase) One thing that I dont like about the spider jam is the LED screen is in a tough place to read because I like to sit on my couch an mess around with stuff
and there is no practical way to do that on spider jam (I wished that the screen wouldve had the ability to tilt up and down) but the JM4 offers much easier maneuverability.I think these LOOPERS offer quite alot on-board feature and also make it extremely easy to patch in anything you want out-board
and you can save everything on an SD card and can convert it all to WAV files right in the unit and as for ease of use EASY ,just spend some time with it read the very simple manual and go thru the processes and youll find out its really very basic stuff .I dont care what this guy thinks its a LOOPER and an extremely powerful tool for practice and creativity,I DO NOT WORK FOR LINE 6 and I am not a fan of there modelers but the JM4 is outstanding IMHO
Just a basic glance at the short manual that comes with the JM4 will show you how to record a guitar track WITHOUT having to p*ss about with the drum levels - as you state. Did you get paid for this review? If so - give them a refund! I've had the JM4 for less than a week and I think it's brilliant.

the pedal isn't worth $330 anyways, there are no positives about this pedal anyways. If you want a looper get a real looping pedal this pedal is just for improv and so what if it can record for 24 min it's a shit pedal. dont buy it.
Wow.. really? Really? I just ordered it and now I wish I wouldn't have ordere the damn thing now! It sounded like what I wanted until this guy started attempting to teach us about it! I can't believe he actually said his name out loud and took credit for this very unprofessional and basically negative review.
You could at least read the manual before you give a review about the product. Seriously, at least the teenager with the out of focus video camera knew how to use the loop features properly before he demonstrated the pedal.
5:20 "loop effects mode..where you can take a loop that you've recorded-can you ?-its kinda-sort of some of these functions are a little confusing here.I mean I'm just choosing different amp models here-lets go back to loop effects mode-ok-loop effects mode-anyway-now we've got recording select mode". SO everyone's clear about loop effects mode then, yeah? Jeez ! Read the manual before you post maybe? He talks about it the looper being an afterthought, but doesn't review it....
...the onkly bit of looping he does it at 0:46...again, not useful. He stops the loop, and then...has to start it again. I know what I'd like to know between the different pedals on offer is how forgiving they are if you're a tiny bit out. If he has an opinion on this he doesn't say. Hey, fancy employing me ? I'd do it better. But then again so would most people.
The quality of gearwire has gone down low recently. I agree with a previous poster that the people who have been reviewing some of the products are below par on a musical standard so to speak. One is awfully out of time and another one is out of tune. Please let the people who really can play and appeal for the performers who might need this gear. Bad "demos" might scare potentional buyers.
Dude! Please stop! Yes, given all the extras, everyone knows it's pretty much a Spider Jam, but without the portability. Besides, some of us would rather run our looper through our Hellhound instead. I've been through the JamMan, Boss, and many others...all great, but the JM4 is the LOOPER I need, and a damn good LOOPER at that! Probably 'cause I studied my manual and read other user forums making me somewhat proficient in my gear.
Oh, and, LOOPER, LOOPER, LOOPER, nah, nah, JM4 is a LOOPER!
This is one of the most unprofessional demos I've ever seen. I've watched several of your gear reviews and usually the reviewer is either a bad player, inarticulate, doesn't understand the unit he's demoing or focuses to much on unimportant details like taking the unit out of the box. I don't know what your purpose is or how you make money but you've lost me.
Hi.I want to ask if I can use jm4 for the following:
Lets say that I have recorded 3 parts of a song to use live (verse, chorus, bridge). Can I scroll through them with my feet and then play the one selected (as a loop or single play)?
Having read the manual I think you can do this only by: hitting "D" switch twice to enter REC SELECT MODE, then scroll through loops with "A" and "B", then select "D" to exit, then "B" to play. For another sample u have to go through all this again. Am I correct ???
What a shame that the reviewers ignorance of the product and frustration at not knowing the features or how to locate them is the only thing being demonstrated. An amature display that should not have posted. The playing is also very weak and un-prepaired. Perhaps he can blame the gear for too?
Thanks for the overview, I was almost sold and was going to test one out tomorrow. No longer necessary, clearly this is more of a practice machine with some great backup sounds (which isn't bad if that's what you want). A bit expensive, though, for a practice pad.
Hiya mate,i had one quiestion about JM4.I try to save my song from JM4 to my sd memory card. I used a san disk 4GB. When i save my record to sd card the JM4 will restart. And when i chek my card, the card are empty. Can you show me the right way to save the record. I also had read the manual and try to follow it and it still not working. Thanks
Can you record a loop and then edit it?Like say I wanted to record the signal clean and then later add distortion and effects to it. If it can do that I might consider getting it. Wish it had USB so you could down load different user effects.
what is this??? an effect board or what? damn it...they should have built the greatest looper of the world, instead they built some shitmachine...with senseless features like a clock in it (i guess there´s one in it...or a tuner...). noone needs this stuff when looking for a looper. should better get the digitech jamman, up to 6,5 h of recording time.
The looper on the DL4 was great, but the time was too short. I wish Line 6 would just make an easy to use looper with a long record/loop time without all the bells & whistles. Dump the crap and sell it for $100 and I'd buy one in a second.
Thank you very much. A very useful and candid review. I decided not to waste any money on JM4. It is not user-friendly. The guitar effect part is nothing close to POD X3 or XT. why waste $300 for that thing?
I have to agree, the SpyderJam was great fun to play but it was wasp like and crumbly sound, very brittle. Great if you want that early Satch tone! The controls where not intuitive and the looping function budget was spent on the 50's retro exterior. I real shame.
All this said, I might well get one - I'm 40, single and live in a very remote part of the country plus I hate TV. Ideal for me and playing live at the local pub for 1 or 2 numbers! :o)
I was once attracted by the good jamming track produced by Line 6, much better than the old style Yamaha QY series or Boss JS-5.
Recently I bought Band-in-a-box 2008, I have a lot of fun from it. Check it Out!
Another down side of JM4 is (if I'm correct) that you cannot arrange the jam track at your wish.
If later Line 6 upgrade JM4 to allow users to arrange the jam track (like chord progression), very likely I will buy one. The jam track quality is really good. :)
Tjanks for the feedback. Yeah, I think after the inital 'Wow!' factor that this unit would become quite tedious. Take away the backing tracks and it is very underspecified in regard to it's competitors.
Will certainly be giving the other products you mentioned! :o)
Practicing an afterthought too?;)
