I moved one down the east coast with the gun facing rear. It was pointed right at the windshield height of a tractor. Got alot of CB chat when I passed a truck and pulled in front of them. "I don't like that gun pointed at me" I would respond, well, I got my finger on the trigger so don't do anything stupid.
@Bilt4Peter I had the keys and instructions on how to run it, I hauled it from Northern Maine to the docks in Delaware, and then they wouldn't let me in because i didn't have a twix card. I said I got a tank and the keys to it, I have had it for 2 days,7 states, I want to give it to you, and you don't trust me NOW???? so you want me to keep it until you get this streight? Crazy world this security stuff.
@weiserbud67 You mean the extra wheels on the front? Thats called a jeep, with out it ,the other tires would blow up with too much plus you are only so many pounds per axle on the highway...
@Bilt4Peter they wont blow up, I haul 140 000 plus out of the bush on a 4 axle (3 axles plus one air lift) 48 ft logging trailer with the lift up and have never blown a tire. some hog backs in the bush are so bad that when i go over them ill often have 1 or 2 axles in the air .Also if you forget to put your lift down when you get to the highway, you have to wait till town to put it down. DOT gives fines for such stuff, but it happens. So the extra axles are just for the dot
took me a second to realize that it was a recovery vehicle (88?) pushing it up onto the bed. probly a engin or trans problem. Did they tell you why the tank was "dead"?
I remember loading an M1A1 onto a train in Germany as a brand new private in the Army, I was scared as hell. Tank was wider than the train car by 6-8 inches on both sides. Oh the days. Thanks for posting. 19K30, 1990-1997, Tanker Forever!
It's most likely a working tank. That's how you transport tanks cuz unfortunately I would love to drive a leopard on the freeway but you can't :( cool video I can now finally show how we load tanks on flatbeds.
Hi, I moved that Leopard in Dec/09 there was no engine in it. In the first part of the video you can see the other tank behind but he was pushing with a tow bar.
