IOne of my favourite all time songs, she looks so much more mature in this video compared to Fame 1980, she is still attractive and i like her distinctive voice....a huge open arena/audience is perfect for this kind of song. :)

Irene Cara should have (& could have) been a MAJOR STAR in both music & movies!Amazing talent. Bust up with record company effectively got her blacklisted in music; she broke away from big company, who had serious influence.Her movie career maybe just never got offered the right parts after 'Fame', and maybe racism too, not that many leading black actresses at the time in movies. Unreal only 3 solo albums in around 30 years which are great but think of what she could have done in that time.

nice to see this fine lady still doing it good and still looking good, first saw her in her teens on electric company and from there i knew shed b a great singer, she has a style of her own even during those days and she carried it well untill she became more famous. she did indeed look good. But the reason that she sounds exactly like 25 years ago is that she is miming! Some of those backing dancers are shocking.

@hsg2 If she is miming, which I doubt she because of the way she is pulling off the mic on louder notes and coming back in on softer ones (why would you do that if you were lip synching?), then she created a track specifically for this performance. She is not miming with the original track, there are lines that are held on this performance that are not on the original track and a few pauses and spaces between words that are also not on the original.

@Defensewhiz I would have to lean towards her lip syncing. Just because singers pull away their mics doesn't equate to them singing live. That's a horrid argument to present in a debate. When you're miming, isn't the whole point to give the illusion that you aren't. So you need to do exactly as if you were singing live.

You can clearly see at 3:35, her mic was so far away, she forgot to pull it back and just kept it there.
