Eric is fantastic - I saw him a couple of days ago and was fortunate enough to talk to him afterwards. He's actually Chris Dave's cousin and told me that they used to practice and hang out together.
Everyone that mentioned a drummer...that drummer/percussionist is great... it's just nice to see someone work their craft as well as any of them do... no comparison here... just... music...appreciation peace
you have. he's incredible. check out aaron parks' "invisible cinema, "mccoy tyner's "land of giants, and kurt rosenwinkel's "the remedy." he will blow your mind.
@ChrisJefferiesMusic you sure that's double pedaling? That looks like a basic set, and that bass drum is awfully small. Maybe Harland is creating the illusion of double pedals because his foot is so ridiculously sensitive. This solo is beyond me, so musical. A symphony of sound that appreciates what came before while looking ahead. I heard some early big band playing here as well as bop, hip hop, and beyond.
I think they sound rather similar, actually. But even if you disagree with that, which is fine, I do think that's an unfair thing to say about BK. You can definitely hear the gospel but it's not entirely "standard" issue
Phenomenal.

Eric Harland is the perfect example of musicianship, dedication, and passion. His playing is truly inspiring. It would be a dream to be his student.

Single.

Single. Eric Harland is too much of a sav for double pedals. Leave that for the metal heads...

Oh I like Billy Kilson more.

Sorry. He plays very well but a bit too funky for me.
HumpaLumpa2009 3 years ago
Never heard of such a thing as this "too funky" you speak of? What is it?

I like a more jazzy, traditional feeling. Like Blade and Harland.
HumpaLumpa2009 3 years ago
Don't use that word. It's ridiculous.
Also, Nate Smith. That is all.
Saxyman14 3 years ago
I´m sorry, what word do you consider ridiculous? Jazzy, traditional or feeling?
HumpaLumpa2009 3 years ago
The first one.
Saxyman14 3 years ago
Yeah, he's right. I hate it, too. Everybody should.

Billy Kilson? Standard gospel chops. Go listen to an album like Liberty Ellman's "Tactiles", and then give us your opinion on Eric Harland.
