  • That's not 928 it's Porsche 924.

  • @makarovski89 Yeah bro, it's a 928. 924s did not have those round pop up headlights and they did have fatter ass like this one.

  • @Normalberries

  • barry bopping and fucking are the same thing fucking funny

  • its serge from beverly hills cop lol

  • Can you upload the whole movie?

  • I love Tom Cruise!!!

  • Bronson Pinchot may be one the best actors of our generation. He steals every scene he is in. Beverly hills Cop, Risky Business and True Romance.

  • @classiestguyinhere hes a decent character actor, if he were the best, he'd be doing starring roles ....same could be said for Joe Pantoliano (different generations though)

  • just look at my name say no mor lol

  • GREAT GREAT MOUVIE THEY DONT MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE.......

  • the music is jeff beck thats hilarious

  • @JavidM jeff beck is the best. you're hilarious.

  • "Who's the U-Boat commander? " Do you love it?

  • The sound of the Porsche V8 engine is probably one of the most beautiful music of all automobile production. : )

  • German engineering superiority at its FINEST!!! "Porsche: there IS no substitute!" (Tom Cruise in Risky Business)

  • "Hit it"

  • "Boping & fucking are the same thing" lol I love this scene

  • Guess who's sitting in the car while driving off the garage? :)

Yipp, Sean Penn as a cameo. Sadly one can't it in the scene. :(

  • Sean was in the passenger seat actually.

Tom backed it up. Took 7 takes to get a back up scene the director liked.

  • I'll try not to shed a tear....

  • What song is this?

  • Comment removed

  • The Pump by Jeff Beck

  • From memory, it's 'The Pump' by Tangerine Dream.

  • Sorry - read the comments out of order, and didn't see the earlier post. Jeff Beck is right.

  • balki bartokomous

  • love this movie. classic!!

one of the best scenes by far

    "Porsche, there is no substitute"

    5/5

  • That sound is all that matter in the world.

  • "Sometimes you"ll just got to say what the fuck, what the fuck gives you freedom, and freedom gives you opportunity"

    I just love this movie...

  • Tom Cruise , Director Paul Brickman and Producer Steve Tish revealed a interesting piece of trivia in the special features commentary in the 25th annaversary edition about the scene where the Porsche is coming out of the garage and stalls . It was NOT really Bronson Pinchot in the car with Tom , it was actually his TAPS co-star and then close buddy Sean Penn ! They were goofing off and Sean distracted him and that's the real reason Tom says the car stalled .

  • LOL!!! i would expect that from sean penn

  • Ah this scene first introduced me to the Porsche 928. Wow this brings back memories.

  • autazo, gran pelicual y soundtrack de mis favoritos

  • how to get OWNED by daddy's kid :)

  • the song is "The Pump" by Jeff Beck.

  • song name?

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, the great Jeff Beck

  • sublime breasts

  • Muddy Waters - Mannish boy (I´m a man)

  • The silliest part of this is those dimwit townies wanting to race against them in a crappy subaru econo fourbanger. A total mismatch. A 1980 Chevy Camero Z28 would've sufficed.

  • I think my stock '78 280z could have taken the Porsche too.

  • yeah, I don't think so...

  • theblackcrowe2003, The 928 was about the fastest production car around at the time. I doubt a 280z could take down any Porsche from that time, let alone the 928.

  • A 1982 Porsche 928 took 8.1 seconds to hit 60 mph. That's not fast, especially for a v8.

  • Sounds like an automatic 928.

  • a 1978 4.5 V8 man took 6.9 sec from 0-60

  • Interesting how Porsche owners are always quick to quote drag and street race specs about the car which is not supposed to be a drag racer. Interesting also how Porsche company sponsored a movie which condoned urban illegal street racing, as opposed to say more ethical "driving around twisty mountain county roads". Also interesting that Porsche sponsored a movie which shows the porsche attracting hookers toward it. That is, after all, what all little men buy Porsches for! To attract hookers.

  • damn....never thought of it like that

  • There was a similar conundrum when Lotus granted use of the Esprit in Pretty Woman after Ferrari and Porsche said no. It paid off...Lotus sales tripled.

  • THE FUCK? the only ignorant porsche owners are the boxster crowds... It's stupid and blasphamous to not respect porsches for they're real performance. The 928 btw, is designed perfectly for high speed runs....

  • The townies are in a 1976 Subaru DL, which had a 1.4 or 1.6L flat four. By contrast, the first-gen 928s had at least a 4.5L V8.

  • Why oh why did a smart guy like that let himself be tricked into following those wankers at Scientology.

  • I love how the clip starts out to be badass with the music, then the car conks out and the music stops. Then it starts up again. Shit is funny.

  • as the saying goes "There are no old Porsche's only new owners." nuff said

  • awesome porsche 928

  • Balki Bartokomous

  • Porsche...there is no substitute.

  • HIT IT AHAHAHAH

  • Tom Cruise's voice.. so.. HIGH PITCHED!

  • "I can't believe Glenn bring over Stadweiler over like that."

    "Why?"

"Because he BOFFED Hendricks last week!!"

    "He did?"

"yes, and then after the game Saturday he fucked her"

"Barry..boffing and fucking are the same thing"

    too damn funny

  • I heart Tom Cruise!!!! I love his 80's movies!!!

  • What is the music that plays when they are in the car?

  • "The Pump" by Jeff Beck off his "There and Back" album.

  • So good.

  • The oil spot was actually a bit of antifreeze to make the tires spin easier.

  • i love how in the movie they could afford a 928 which was one of the most expensive cars you could own back in the 1980's but their other car was a for estate.

  • And a Chevrolet Impala at that.

  • 928s do not suck. I have a 94 GTS and it is seriously fast.

  • He could have waited alot longer than that and still smoked him.

  • Thats Bronson Pinchot riding shotgun!! lol the 928 was introduced for one reason and one reason only American govt was starting to crack down on unsafe cars and the Porches all had rear engine which tended to spin out because of idiot American drivers so they hired a GM guy that worked on the Vette and produced the front engine 928 a car you either love or hate i love it

  • i agree very funny how this turned into the porsche discussion session but the 928 looks like a amc pacer 911s way better, corners great really fast

  • The 928 has way better handling than contemporary 911's. Near perfect 50:50 wieght distribution :D

  • 928's suck, I had a '81 with an auto tranny and it was as slow as shit around town. If you race, make sure you have about 3 miles and you might win. Can't beat the sound though. Kind of screams and grumbles at the same time.

  • That would mean the old 3 speed? Yeah those suck... The 5 spd man is great though.

  • Cruise apparently was unable to drive the manual. They used a sportomatic I guess...

  • lol - why did the engine die during reverse from the garage?

  • he stalled it maybe. Just a guess. Or else the porsche was upset that a moron like tom was driving it.

  • Bah! Only an air cooled 911 prior to the Carrera 2 would misbehave if the driver wasn't strong enough to handle it.

  • Oil? Looks like a manhole cover smart guy.. Funny, my 928 doesn't drip anything.

  • I don't believe it.

  • ARe you blind? Look at 1:24 between both cars, a manhole cover! Again, at 1:33 the manhole cover is IN FRONT of the 928 and then he runs over it! So, stupid..

  • I know that there is a scene in the movie that focuses on an oil spot on the ground when he takes punches it. It must be from the chase scene. If I had the dvd, I would find it for you.

  • Are you on drugs! The car was brand new when this film was made - I doubt it would drop oil. Even if it did, they would have edited it out anyway. My 928 GT is 18 and doesn't loose a drop ;-)

  • Actually, that 928 was either a 1978 or 1979 model. If you look closely, the car has a three spoke steering wheel which was unavailable after 1979. Also, the 928S which did not have the swiss cheese wheels was the only 928 available for new purchase.

  • The "real" Risky Business car is at rb928 . com

    Check it out !!!!!!!!!

  • RISKY BUSINESS ROCKS !!!!

  • mine's the same color but later model, a beast

  • sorry, I don't speak english very well. What does Cruise's friend say before the word f and then C. responds "b... and f***ing are the same thing"

  • "boffing". Not sure what it means, I don't thing anyone does :)

  • BOPPING, people. I guess they don't use this word anymore. Sheesh! I feel old. Bopping & effing are the same thing.

  • That's sad about the 928. It was the most advanced Porsche over the 911 of its time and yet, the Porsche crowd didn't care for it all that much. Though 928's are still expensive to own, they tumbled hard in the Kelly Blue Book resale. I have to agree with Top Gear Jeremy Clarkson's rave over the 928, it is still a performer.

  • Beauty is subjective, it still doesn't change the fact that the 928 was more advanced than the 911 of its day.

  • That's funny how this turned into a Porsche discussion group. Anyway, the 928 was introduced as a possible replacement to the 911-- aircooling not efficient for fuel consumption and emissions not to mention much more quiet. Aircooling was used on the VW beetle in 1939, predating antifreeze-- allowed easy start ups in German winters and hot summers-- predates antifreeze--you dont need a radiator.

  • "aircooling not efficient for fuel consumption and emissions"

Yes the watercooled 928 got really good mileage, almost as good as a beat up chevrolet truck that had not had repairs for 25 years.

  • You have some good points but the 911 is iconic to the Porsche faithful. The current 911 (997) is watercooled to insure better emmisions.

  • "That's sad about the 928. It was the most advanced Porsche over the 911 of its time and yet, the Porsche crowd didn't care for it all that much."

Let's see, the 928 sounded and ran like a Chevrolet corvette. It had an automatic, like many corvettes. The 928 looked like an AMC pacer from the back side and from the back, and from the top down on the back.

Why did porsche owners not accept the 928? Jee I wonder why.

  • I thought there was be a substantial point in your dissertation and analysis.

What you are saying in summary is that Porsche owners are a bunch of gays that preferred fashion over function? Suggesting that Wolfgang Möbius copied AMC? The pinnacle American manufacture in budget transportation?

Your comments may hold weight in the Honda Forums, but they are fringe guesses when you enter an automobile enthusiasts discussion.

  • Well, I am a porsche enthusiast myself and I have owned 2 porsches. I do have authority to speak. I actually enjoy the look of the 928 myself, and the sound of it too. However, occasionally I look at the car and think "yuck" at certain angles. It has love/hate look. Most agree. I see more love than hate. The car is a gas guzzler. The 928 and 924 were to replace the 911. That I find funny - GT 928 car meant for driving long distances a car which one would definitely prefer good mileage!

  • on the gas guzzling side, what V8 powered car from the seventies got 20 mpg? Name one...

  • Do not know where you got 20MPG figure buy according to 1982 statistics, 928 got 16-17MPG.

    1979 Buick Century, 18MPG 4.9L V8.

    1979 Buick Regal, 18MPG V8

The Porsche 928 engine is not fabulous. Most of it is in your mind, and porsche owners minds also. It is a psychological fashion and arrogance problem that all Porsche owners have. The Chevy Monza v8 got similar mileage in 1979, and had similar aerodynamics. Some have told me that many american crap-cans had better aerodynamics than 924s.

  • was that the 4.5, or the 4.7 s ?

  • Put a modern transmission behind some of the small block chevies and it is possible Main problem then was gears, and not having any for fuel economy, just acceleration..

  • "What you are saying in summary is that Porsche owners are a bunch of gays that preferred fashion over function? "

Actually this is quite true. Owning Porsches myself, I verified this fact. I purchased Porsches because they looked good. No other reason. I did not need to drive fast, I could do that in another Car (even family cars). I had no need to drive 250KM/hour in a city. Gay, no, but close. Now that I did not need to drive fast, what was left? Fashion. Mercedes benz style fashion.

  • The 928 ran NOTHING like a corvette. It had excellent handling with almost 50:50 wieght distribution. If you look closely, the car in the movie has a manual and so did about 25% of all 928's. And so does mine, btw. Yeah it was built for GT driving, so of course inbread Porsche 911 lovers didn't go for it. But on the other hand, it attracted a hole new audience of executives. And that was great. The design lasted for 18 years hardly without changes. How long did the AMC Pacer last again?

  • Handling does not "run". Engines "run". I was referring to the sound. The v8 sounds like a v8. Interestingly though, every time someone puts a V8 into a 911, 914, or 924, these people are ridiculed. Why? Porsche 928 owners talk about their V8, and it is perfectly okay. It just has to have the inbred porsche label on it, and the clutch has to cost 900 dollars for it to be safe. Talk about inbreeding.

  • why were those joker clowns in that standard car trying to race a porsche...

  • They're idiots

  • SUBLIME

  • what the heck is he trying to do reverse donuts for haha. nice clip though :)
