  • I had to search this up for gym class...

  • it looks like all of their poor tails have been cut... :(

  • Super!

    Sau tolle Pferde :-)

  • Is it true that 6 is old for a good cutting horse?

  • @vulcansailor I have a 15 year old cutting horse

  • @1tylerF Hmm well I was just asking because I know someone who got a horse at an auction in Wisconsin. He came from Texas and was an excellent horse for reining, cutting, barrels, etc. He was 6 and they said he was too old and thats why they were selling him. My friend has owned him for 12 years now and the horse is incredible. You can put a little kid on him and he knows to go slow and careful. Hop on him and get him all fired up and he can still run barrels faster than any horse I've seen.

  • @vulcansailor oh i bet he's a great horse! If a horse is trained right, then he will be a great horse the rest of his life and try to please you in almost every way a horse can please a person! my horse has been used in cutting, barrels, and ranch sorting. He LOVES to work, he would rather work then eat and sleep if he had the choice. horses are truly magnificent animals.

  • I grew up around cutting horses (we used them in my Dad's feedlot.) Brilliant

animals; truly remarkable. Once they are properly trained, you cannot allow

them to inadvertently get into a pen of cattle by themselves. They will literally run cattle to death. I've seen it happen.

  • I have a used 1502 Pro Cutter Mechanical Cow for sale $1000 (new is $1650). I have a video on my profile here on Facebook.

  • i miss working my dad's ranch, one more year and i'll be back doing what i love

  • did you film these clips by your self? If you didn't, where did you get them? :)

  • The music and video frame were easy to ignore once these horses went to work.

It's just the coolest thing. The horses might be trained to do this, but it takes a little passion in them to do it right. I've seen cutting horses and ponies retire from the ranch or sport and they try to cut cows through the fence.

  • the first song is the most redneck song ive ever heard

  • All equestrian sports are interesting. I love them all :)

  • I just love cutting. I was blessed to win the cutting 3 years in a row at the Oklahoma High School Rodeo

  • im a western and english rider, and i love barrel racing and jim canna events! but in cutting does the rider do anything? it looks all the horse

  • @orcas12 yes!!! we train these horses for 18 months but after that other than keeping them tuned up its all the horse!!!=)

  • @orcas12 cutting takes a well trained horse and a very attentive rider. I've been on cutting horses that you had to steer and ones that seem to know what they're doing all on their own... just like any other animal, it's a matter of who you get :)

  • @dosthepost ohh ok i understand now :] thnx!!

  • @orcas12 In all horse events horses does work!(:

  • my grandpa Ray Coulter was there last year i also went with him his friend owns that hotel. i show horses also its so fun

  • Cutting horses are incredible! But why do you need to wear such huge spurs? Is it just for show? Those spurs look mean.

  • @earlymusicus Its not the size of the spurrs that matters, its how you use them, small spurrs can be horrible if used wrong. When using the spurrs, it's only with a very gently touch on the horse. Most western spurrs have a litle wheel on them at the tip, so they will roll along the horses skin instead of draging/scratching.

  • @earlymusicus The huge spurs are not as sharp as the little ones. The smaller the rowels the deeper they will penetrate when used improperly.

But you are also correct in the show prop theory. You are required to be dressed like you see every cutting horse competition rider dressed. Hat, boots, long sleeve shirt, and spurs.

Once a cutting horse is trained to competition grade, you don't need spurs to ride them, they don't need your help past picking the cow and setting them on it.

  • key to ride'n (if ya wanna stay on) any good cut'n horse is in watch'n his head and ears..you'll sit a good saddle then and let'em work..relax and enjoy the ride!

  • @LiveLoveLaugh464 I brake and work AQHA horses western, but my little sister rides english. I've broke all of our riding horses and they normaly ride both english and western. My sisters favorite horse she likes to ride is a 3 yearold pony QH cross and I use her on cattle and she loves to chase them yet my sister could take her after Im done and start jumping her over jumps. She loves it all. And I love my horses more than any thing in the world even more than my boyfriend.

  • beautiful horses doing a beautiful job! My horse was a cutter and loved herding cattle! Nothing more fun that doing something the rider and the horse both love!

  • such an ironic sport

  • Not every quarter horse is a top cutting horse, nor is a TB a top jumper or race horse. Depends on breeding, willingness, training, etc.

  • It takes plenty of skill to ride in ANY riding competition. I am cutting & reining myself. Yes, we love our horses as much as anyone & yes, the horses are trained to do this themselves with very little guidance from the rider. We are just as focused as the horses, but they are taught to do this themselves.

  • @LoloXXScotty "mad and stupid" Are you kidding me? see, this is why people assume all english riders are stuck up because when you make uneducated freeking comments like that!

On that note, what year was this?? im just wondering :] good video tho! Cutting for life! :D

  • This is so stupid, English and Western are both amazing, NO western is not abusive in any way. The riders are what create the abuse, and that happens in BOTH western and English. It all depends on the horse when it comes to Rodeo, my horse hates running barrels and he is a 9 year old QH, we do WP. However, my Mom's 23 year old Arab loves to fly around the barrels as fast as he can. I'll be honest, English riders can be very stuck up, but so can Western riders. Jeez, everyone stop being dumb

  • The first horse is beautiful... on my opinion. He looks like the the horse I ride.

  • as a matter a fact i cutt horses and this is the best sport ever

  • You are simply incredible. That means that what you have posted here has no credibility. All horses are NOT the same. Foundation horses are better than TB, Paint, FT, Walkers, or Arabs. Mustangs don't come close to any of the afore mentioned breeds.

Cut is spelled CUT, not CUTT. I doubt that you actually have a horse of your own. You sound like a Barny. That is someone that goes to a barn and pays to ride horses that belong to other people.

  • man i wish my horse could do this stuff!

  • Buy One That Will.

  • practise .. :D

  • Gotta love the cow horses. Gettin low and stopping big.... Nothing better than that ;)

  • I really like the "MEEEEEP!" x)..... ;P

  • Comment removed

  • I love this sport My Smart Hic olena Mare is doing really good right now

  • Western riding is the way to go.. Ranchin, ropin, barrel racin all that funn stuff!!! :D

  • @OneTuffCountryGurl no way english riding is way safer because horses can get seriously hurt in barrel racing if they fall and ropin is sad towards the cows because they get seriously hurt too so western isnt all good especially the rodeo now thats very bad!

  • @LoloXXScotty What about jumping? Or cross country? I think I've seen more horses get hurt jumping and running hard over miles of country than running around the barrels. I assume you say Rodeo in general, what events do you mean? Barrels? Roping? Cutting? Because I would not lump those together with bronc riding, that is VERY different.

  • @LoloXXScotty Um I've worked up with the Grand Prix trainers in jumping and have seen more horses jack up their legs than anything else.

  • @Aceyfacey3 do i care about ur stupid grand prix trainers erm... NO and i watch tones of vids on utube and documenties on horse riding on tv and i see most western horses get hurt because of all the tight turning and am not sayin that english riding is perfect either because it isnt but i have my opinion and i think western is more dangerous and it looks like they just ride any horse and dont even love them like we do

  • @LoloXXScotty Wow your such a professional because you watch youtube videos, what a bunch of bullshit. Watch all the damn videos you want doesn't mean you know what your talking about, you can only speak unless you've trained with the top. Have your oppinion that's great, but then why in the hell do you go on a cutting video and talk up a bunch of bull.

  • @LoloXXScotty

I'm sure you would sound more professional if you actually knew how to spell. I ride English, but you make us sound ridiculous. Theres nothing wrong with Western Riding. [Yes Western RIDING, not staying on a terrified horse for 8 seconds. Thats not considered riding] I find English more relaxing, and graceful. But thats my opinion, your entilted to yours and so is Aceyface3.

  • @queenluciaa who asked you this arguement has nothing to do with u!

  • @LoloXXScotty I brake and work AQHA horses western, but my little sister rides english.

  • @LoloXXScotty It can't be said that Western riders don't love their horses; Western culture exists because of the horse. Any horse who is successful is because they love what they're doing. Fear won't get them to the top. And before you knock on the practices of western culture, consider the use of chains to make horses pick up their feet (English) or the bruising of hoof soles for a better stance (halter).

And as for running "like crazy"? The horse is built for speed, not prancing about.

  • @LiveLoveLaugh464 yeh but i said it looks like they dont love them that was my opinion and also we dont attach chains to their feet its called weighted boots and it builds up leg muscle and we dont bruise their feet and if that is true its the snobby famous riders who only care about winning and being the best x

  • pretty horse

  • :)

Me and my yearling colt started doing this a few weeks ago. He is a NATURAL. Awesome.

I garentee i am going to make a ton of money off of him!! :D

*If you ride bareback at fast paces for as long as i did (12 years), it isnt that hard to stay on, xD.

    p.s- i am only 13 years old.

  • why do i get the feeling you're completely full of crap?

  • @4littlecowboys lol i get that feeling too.

  • grr same thing i said to 4littlecowboys he ain't a cowboy he is a ***!

  • well my mom always said if ya don't have somthin nice ta say don't say it at all and by the way all horses are the same so don' go around sayin that your horse is better just because they don't cutt oh and if ya didn't now what that is its where you n your horse chase down a cow and i also ride english but im not so stuck up that i would say which is better because there all the same!!!! >:( N NO I AIN'T HILLBILLY JUST BECAUSE I RIDE WESTERN!

  • @keira1999 what the hell are you talking about?

  • @keira1999 Lol, what's wrong with being a little bit hillbilly? I love cutting and horses love it too. When I read a book teaching you how to play with your horse they use cutting as a way. You play the cow and can either have a rider or not. They only caution saying horses get a lil excited and might try to bite!

  • Not all horses love to cut, nor can cut. A horse that tries to bite a cow has an attitude problem that needs correction.

Nothing wrong with being a little hillbilly, as long as you have an education. Most hillbillies are dumb as rocks. Area code 417 is famous for making Meth and growing pot. They also LOVE Sarhaha Plain Stupid. When it comes to cutting horses, they will try to use any horse and then blame the "stupid horse" for lack of "cow".

  • @keira1999 hey not all english riders are stuck up so watch your mouth i ride english and im not stuck up so dont assume that by the way we look just cos we're not mad and stupid like western but i must say i dont think all western sports are bad infact i would quite like to try it but i just think that western riders should take more care and not just make the horse run around like crazy

  • starfish.. it sounds like your horse was just scared of the motorcycle. yes chs will work things other than a cow , but only in training,

  • My grandparents bought a retired cutting horse long ago and put it out to pasture with their cattle. It would start cutting on its own for fun! :)

  • i ride western and try this ...

    this is really fun....

    who the name the song???

  • wow it looks freakin amazing. i ride english but aseeing this video makes me really want to switch over to western and try this!!

  • could watch all day !!! that horse is so smooth

  • my horse can do that with a chicken lol

  • A good cutting hors with do that with anything that moves. One time I was just riding down by the river, some jerk on a motorcycle buzzed past me,and before I even knew it my horse had jumped right in fromt of the guy. Scared the carp out of him LOL

  • ya that would scare the crap outta me to :DD

  • ميه ميه

  • If anybody wants a pro. video done... I do them i dont have any examples up yet... but i will. I do all sorts of them from my horses fooling around to for sale videos to nature videos... I do anything and the great part is that they are customized by you! I am having an opening SALE sooo let me know...!!!

    Thanks

  • Nevermind. Found it.

  • Sure, but what is the name and who is the performer. I plugged in "I've got a little hillbilly in me" and nothing came up.

  • The first song is great. I'd like to buy it. Please tell me where I can find it.

  • Its on iTunes. In the internet store thingy

  • :):)

  • I board my horse at a cutting farm. The owner starts and trains cutting horses. I LOVE cutting! It's freaking awesome! I wanna train my Walker, but that most likely will crash and burn XD Awesome video!

  • This was an awesome video!!!!!

I am a starter in cutting/sorting and I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! DO MORE!!!!!

To hell with the haters!!!! They hate cause they cant ride!!!!!

  • Nice video! I love the first song!

  • I have ridden Jumpers and Warmbloods all my life.....

BUT IM INTRIGUED BY THIS....JUST BEAUTIFUL!

  • Wow people get so cruel on here. You know it dosn't matter what the horse is doing, if it looks like the rider is doing nothing then the horse is trained very well!! Same can be said for pleasure, reining, jumping, dessage, all of it. So everyone sit back and just enjoy the art that horses give us. Please quit ruining it for everyone else.

  • Great horses, great music, thanx for posting!

  • how are these horses killing cows?? horses are vegetarians. i really dont believe the horse would go after a cow and kill it.

  • I Traind My Arab x Welsh To Cut, No Previous Western Training, never Seen A Cow, She Was A Showjumper Lol. She Did Pretty Goo, But We Never Competed, No Western Saddle Lol. Jo's Amazing. I Love Her Lots !!

  • Well apparently GothicTrioOfEdwards has horses that kill cows, ask him. None of my cutters are that aggressive, I have kids and dogs, I couldn't afford to have an aggressive horse attacking kids or anything else that the horse can corner. None of these horses in this video look like they are being nasty i.e ears pinned.

  • Great video! I would love to have a cowkilling horse, so if anyone knows where I could find one hit me up.

  • You both are wrong, cutting horses don't kill cows. I have cutting horses and we don't use barbed wire as a bit nor do we wear sharp spurs. A simple bump spur is plenty. Don't say anything at all unless you can say something intelligent and know what you are talking about. FYI if your cutting horse is killing cows you may want to consider a new sport, my horses aren't aggressive with cattle. If one will kill cows it will kill dogs, kids or anything else that gets in it's stall.

  • By the way Chubby at that time was showing a palomino named Jessie Ray Tari out of Georgia for a man that lived in Georgia. He was trying to win a world championship with this horse. Just take a look at the records and you might come to some understanding that I know a little about the cutting world. Now get you head out of your ass. One more thing Coby Woods had a proclivity to sell horses that were not from Cash Quioti Rio.

  • oh, sorry. right

  • what the K stand for in K Ryan let it rain the second song

  • what´s the name from the first music track?

  • its on the video

  • I've Got A Little Hillbilly in Me, by Brent Amaker and the Rodeo.

  • hey i am a horse trainer and if you need any tips please fel free to message me.I can answer most of your questions

  • this really shows the magic of the Quarter Horse. Although other breeds can kinda learn some cow sense, I believe that the QH will always reign supreme when it comes to western riding because of it's versatility. although I don't own my own horse, I ride one of my uncle's horses (Babe) She is a total sweetie and loves her cattle! when we ride I like to and help my uncle bring the herd in @ night or before bad weather(sometimes during!) Babe and I team pen, barrel race, rein, and do some cutting!

  • Superbes images, bravo.

  • yes as you can see the horse does alot and the rider appears to be sitting there doing nothing although there are leg aids there and weight shifting. and it takes alot of work and alot of time to get a horse to that point

  • That is so amazing how they do that.. I only ride english - but i think it is amazing how easy that looks =D..

  • your wrong

  • There's plenty of people out there who abuse horses but it's not exclusive to the sport of cutting horses. No one has to be violent or cruel to a horse to be effective. *If* you saw someone treating a horse that way you should call animal control, and I doubt they do well at their sport.

  • yes that is true in some sports but not just western. and i have never seen that done in cutting because cutting horses cowsense is bred into them they arent really trained for it all that much.

  • I like the first song!

  • I luv to cut. My horse max is now a master. it is an art.

  • how would you train a horse to cut?

  • super hard and takes like 3 yrs to get good!!

  • they have to have a horse that has cow sense bred into them

  • There is a wonderful trainer here in California, Larry Trocha, who has a fantastic set of training DVDs/tapes, that teach you step by step how to train your horse literally from the ground up. Check him out! He has videos here in YouTube with links I am sure to his website.

  • The horses do the work. Its awesome to watch a horse with cow sense!

  • I wonder how much of that is acutually is the rider

  • you have to have quiet hands and legs for cutting its equall parts with horse and rider and your horses neck reighing has to but perficet!

  • I love cutting but i only been on a cutting horse once...im riding an awesome son of peptoboonsmal right now (Peptos Rapper Minime) -explains my wierd username lol- well i hope he gets the chance to cut some day :)

  • this is for love2cutt......ya but horses are faster

  • lol - watching a good cutting horse is awesome - they can be fierce

  • I have a horse who has a load of talent with cows (obviously not this level, but for amateur like me) only problem is he likes giving out love bites :P

  • bite him back it work for a horse i no who had a biting problem lol not the greatest method but i would try it

  • Cows look fast!

  • Ride um' LOL if only my horse was a multi tasker

  • cutting and reining has to be the most elegant sport in the horse world. I've done both along with barrel racing (totally different disiplines) i love my job and my horses.

  • Whoa, I love cutting. I know that's what my little mare is bred for, but I doubt she ever learned to.

  • i LOVE watching cutting horses do what they love best! its a tuff event, but these riders now wat there doin. it takes a really good horse to do this.

  • waouw ! Jaimerais bien savoir faire ca moi !

  • cutting is incredibly impressive...it just sucks when a horse gets agressive. Excellent riders :)

  • I love watching good cutting horses perform. I won the Cutting at the Oklahoma State High School Rodeo 3 years in a row. 1963/1964/& 1965: It takes a really good horse, and trainer and ridder,to look this good.

  • The movenment in these horses are amazing!

    =]

  • I love the pair at 1:30..dam..idk if my horses are that good...lol

  • Thanks for using "I've Got A Little Hillbilly in Me" as music for your video. Check out our new music video on You Tube.

    Brent Amaker and The Rodeo

  • Actually, we are not western-style riders. This kind of riding-style obviously isn't very common in Europe. Despite, we do like this video including riding harmony and agility.

    Thank you dear RexWager!

  • Maybe the western style is not popular in Greece, but in many other parts of Europe. Italy, Germany, the UK, just to name a few.

  • Yes, indeed! After Horse-riding being known through "scripta" of Greek Xenophon and brilliant Europeans like Antoine de Pluvinel and François Robichon de La Guérinière, "western-style" seems too far...

  • The style doesn`t really matters. Horses haven`t changed that much over the centuries - I guess Xenophon would have a pretty good chat with Tom Dorrance or John Lyons, if only they could meet ! ;-)

  • Conmme on Xeny! Let's start chatting with Tom and Jery (oh! sorry!) John. You have a lot of things to know poor philosoph! :-)

  • i love cutting i wanna do it so bad those horses are bad i like it at 1:25

  • Those horses are good

  • sweet

  • great job luv this lol ve got a little hillbilly in me

  • This is a great video. The riders are 1st class, and of course the horses are incredible!

  • i wish my horse would cut !!!

  • This is my favorite video on youtube. I watch it all the time. I'm learning to cut cows. For me there is no greater challenge then riding a cutting horse. Sometimes I get discouraged in my training sessions then I come home and watch this video and wonder what the hell I think I'm doing anyway. NO, it aint smart but it's the cowboy way. I think I'm addicted and so are the horses. Thanks for making this video!

  • YOU MAKE IT LOOK SOOO EASY!!!! I just started cutting and I couldn't believe how hard it actually is!!!!

  • It is so hard to stay up there my Daddy bought a SPECAL bronk ridding saddle just for training cutting horses. It is that tough.

  • im a show jumper/hunter jumper,but i would LOVE to do that!

  • Good video!

  • Go Judy! Congrads on a great year!

  • fantastic horses, and amazing work.

  • To me there is no other horse event as exciting as Cutting. My father and I trained and showed cutting horses. Daddy is dead and my health is gone, but they are amazing to watch them working.

  • i want to cut but the thing is the riders don't tell the horses anything, they jsut sit there like lumps on a log. i'm sure the horses could do better wihtout them...

  • You have got to be kidding. Watch the riders boots for the cues. If you really were interested in cutting, you should dig a little deeper, the connection between horse and rider is vital. One thing though, you are correct about not using the reins. It keeps anyone from jerking the horse around by the head. If the rider tried to direct the horse like that, it would get the message to slow.

  • You have no idea about anything to do with cutting. Don't comment, until you have been in a cutting ring, on a cutting horse, and tried it for yourself.

  • Comment removed

  • i dont like cutting that much it doesnt look that much fun compared to a hunterjumper wich is whut i do but its just funn watchign my moms fredn dawn is a professionla cutter and she is goin to the the hiuge show if you comment on my blog i can tell yuo more she is also helping me ! train my jumper too im ! so we can chat

  • Hmmm....we'll stick you on a working cow horse and let you take the cow down the fence going full speed...that is if you crave action......

  • Love it!

  • Very atheltic horses, quick!!

  • Thanks for the Video

We are staying there next month April/07

Looks like a nice resort with attractions such as what is showing now as I type.
