Hi. I just saw your video. Funny how so many dentist wanted him sedated. Now, our son is able to withstand extraction and of course, the needles. Am very glad for your son. I have also uploaded two videos of my son's visit to the dentist.
my son is three and its hard enougth to get him to clean his teeth...im dreeding the first trip to the dentist......how long has it taken you to get tristan to be calm at the dentist....does he suffer with hyper sensotivity much.. kev....
@jeepfreak2121 Tristan was put on a clean diet when he was 2. He was severe autism at the time. It took about two years before his progress started to be steady. I used to be a dental assistant so I knew how to look for cavities and was aware. I kept him from any stress he did not need to go through. Because he eats so healthy he does not need the dentist much. This was his second time. Now he is learning how to brush and most likely wont need dentists for several more years.
@jeepfreak2121 Also Kev. ... Tristan had severe problems eating, gagging, throwing up because of sensory issues. It was really scary. I had to be VERY clever on how to get the food in. Now he eats whatever I give him and appears to have no sensory issues inside his mouth. He does continue to have slight sensory issues in his ears, but he has learned to self regulate with strategies he has been taught. Is your child on a clean diet?
@jeepfreak2121 One last thing. We also did a sensory therapy called Bolles therapy. Its getting very popular now and I would like to go again some day. Its key to calm and retrain the senses. Bolles therapy makes ocular, vestibular and auditory work together at the same time so its more effective. Very expensive and the only real expensive therapy we ever did. I know parents that only used diet too. All kids are different.
