The all time "King of Calypso" thank you Kitch ... gone but not forgotten! I first heard "Drink de Rum," at my cousin's wedding back in the 1950's. And since that time I was a fan of Kiktch and loved all his "CLASSICAL CALYPSOES" Oh Kitch, no more Romance you too Late you lass you Chance." : ) LOVE your Indian fans from Guyana! " Rest in Heavenly Peace."
Lord Kitchener and Calypso Rose's mid '70s release ('Sugar Bum bum' 'They must play mass', 'So ley we jam') got me hooked to Calypso music when I was in high school in Nigeria. Then l heard Mighty Sparrow and Lord Melody on Lagos airwave; l was swept off my feet. Young artist are trying with their Soca, but l want to thank you Lord Kitchener for being a good ambassador for this beautiful music.
I still have my original 33 speed 12" vinyl of this sweet soca tune.....Lord Ktichener is one of my favorite Calypsonian....thanks for posting this classic!
Lord Kirchner is a fantastic calypso musician WHOSE MUSIC WILL FOREVER REMAIN RELIVANT WHEREever CALYPSO AND MUSIC GENERALLY IS IN THE BURNER OF DISCUSSION MOST ESPECIALLY HERE IN nigeria where his music and person command great respect and followership.
Classic tune, will never get old,it will live on for generations to come hats of to the late great Grand Master Of Calypso..The Legendary Lord Kitchener!!R.I.P...Your music lives on!!!!
