John McCain has said hes going to bring up William Ayers at tonights presidential debate, so Defend Bill Ayers Day has broken out in opinionville. On the op-ed page of The WSJ, Thomas Frank asks, Whats the Matter With Bill Ayers?
I can personally attest to the idiocy of it all because I am a friend of Mr. Ayers, Frank writes. In fact, I met him in the same way Mr. Obama says he did: 10 years ago, Mr. Ayers was a guy in my community in ILL. who knew something about fundraising.
