Dog's aren't man's best friend. Some Americans taught of that and everyone believed it. Cows and horses helped men in war and in peace plowing fields and building rail roads. Just because Cows, Pigs, Horses don't express emotion doesn't unfairly make them lower than dogs. They are all equal, they can be used in various ways by their owners. They can be food too. If another culture does not have this conditioning I don't think they are wrong. It is quite possible that the Hindus think the West are barbaric for eating cows. What does not get exported outside of China usually ends up on a dinner plate. The sad fact is that the animals suffer horrendous torture. They are captured on the streets, and packed by the dozens into small cages, without ability to move. They are then tossed like inanimate objects from the trucks, onto the ground, hitting each other and the steel cages.

It is not the same as how we treat our our cattle, far from it. Cattle roams the property grazing for the duration of life, then it is killed humanely. Chinese keep dogs in overcrowded kennels, transport them packed like sardines in in cages with many dogs dying, and then torture them before death. Hardly the same.

Method of slaughter depends upon available tools. If there are less painful tools but the butcher opted to use painful tools then I could agree it's unnecessary cruelty. But since we don't have guns we depend on clubs and knives and to protect us from bites we use cages. We bow to no one. We answer only to God.
