I have a Dovo Shavette exactly the same as that just with a red holder, i love love love it, i still would like one with a bit more weight but that will come in the form of an old school straight razor design
I'm soo getting this! DOVO insanely great quality razors. I went to the site you provided (atlantabarber) and ordered this exact one. But with shipping it's over $50. Before I clicked "confirm payment", I noticed they allow promo codes for discounts. I was wondering if anyone has some promo code that can cut the hefty price a bit?
@harrowrudeboy it's "shave- ette"....and i was just picking around, it just make me smile when he said chevette, cause I used to hav a chevette too! lol
Hey, nice work, you should stop by our online store to get the razor we use at American Shave.. Search American Shave, its a firm grip and really nice quality. Good Luck
Thanks for hookin me up with that website man. ive been wanting to find a great razor...all they have around here are cheap think plastic handles. again thanks for the help and keep doin what you do.
Thanks for all the info. I'm going for my barber licence and want to be correct. Been in the construction Industry 15 years and always loved cutting hair! Getting all my tools together and ready for barber college!

@alsmillions aint that the truth. ive been shaving my own head for years and i gotta say the first 6 months at least it was never pretty. nicks and cuts all over my head ha ha ha
This is exactly the info I was looking for. I've been using the first two that you showed. That' first one didn't just nick me, it pretty much sliced the top layer of my skin off. It's healed up to the point that it looks as though it never happened. I've been using the 2nd type of razor for years. I decided to just try that first one. Big mistake. I saw the Dovo online and knew there'd be a vid on youtube somewhere. Good thing I found a Black barber who understands lol.
good vid! I have a merkur barber pole DE razor and get great results. But I also want to "graduate" to straight razors. I bought a Magic Blade at Sally's and use half a merkur DE blade snapped in half. Does anyone have experience with that combination? I'm not getting good results.... yet all the local barbers use that combo and claim great results. any advice? thanks guys.
I love my shavette. Its a great way to transition away from those bastardly cartridge multiblade razors. I only have the red and black plastic and the red plastic holds typical DE blades snapped in half and the black holds longer, similar to the green one here blades but they fit differently. Anyhow, very sturdy construction and easily worth every penny.
I use the "Artist Feather razor", $80 at Appletons barber supple online. I know it is not cheap, but the wieght and balance is so nice because it is actually cast and not stamped or rolled steel... I swear by it...FYI :-)
I'm on the Dovo then Al. I had been having the same problem with my holder and it was....CHEAP! When I did head shaves it was gruesome. But, I'm gonna step up my game. Preciate the knowledge drop and the shot out, my brother. Stay up man!
Firstly, plastic can't be "infected". It can hide germs in it, but you should be cleaning that. The holder and blade should be thoroughly cleaned with Barbicide after each use. I only suggest 2 uses before you throw it away.
I use organic root stimulator tea tree anti- bump spray after I shave. My question is do you think bump away is more effective then tea tree anti - bump spray ?
Absolutely! ORS is good and I used it before I started using Bump Away. ORS is good to stop bumps from coming and remove the burning irritation, but it doesn't work well on existing bumps. I sware by Bump Away Guaranteed.
Do they sell the changeable blade (not the holder) in walmart? What lane, near what?

Al, Do you have any experience with doing that? Does it make you look like you have a big forehead?
mrmag1cc 1 year ago
Hey al,
My hairline kind of goes up on my forehead. Is there any way i can get a straight line without looking like a i have a huge forehead?
mrmag1cc 1 year ago
@mrmag1cc If you have to go back to make the line straight you will expose more forehead.

Whats the best way to clean a straight razor ? Can I use Barbicide ?
bigbread29 2 years ago
Yes, but add just a little water so you're sure you're killing any GERMICIDE, PSEUDOMONAACIDE FUNGICIDE or VIRUCIDE. which includes the HIV virus.
alsmillions 2 years ago
Is there a solution to prevent knicks and cuts.
bigbread29 2 years ago
Stretch the skin to make the skin tighter. It's harder to nick the skin if you're doing everything right.
