  • if you run 360 on a stock motor you are dumb you should build the motor befor 350 i own a tc i know

  • I was about to ask wht sc meant but thn i decided to use my brAin a little lol XD

  • and the SC is auto, the non SC is stick.

  • Syko you must be a ford or chevy driver lmao. TC = you have a Tiny Cock.

  • @dustinclark83

you must drive a truck and are sick of getting passed by tC's,lmao.

  • tc = trash car

  • @Sykot1k It means Touring Coupe

  • wow 4 it bein sc it barely pulls trash both cars

  • Buy a Ford and go find you a girl friend at your family reunion. yeeehaa

  • WOWOWOWO!!! 1 1/2 cars from a SC kit?!?!?! SPEED RACER YO!

  • i think they are shit, just another toyota piece of shit.. take it form me..... BUY A FORD

  • @hanratty450 NO ford vehicles sucks man only the mustang i like.

i think you should get japanese cars

  • @hanratty450 LMFAO!!! tard aahahah

  • Scion Tcs are for women .

  • To close for the money spent in my opinion...

  • im guessing the SC one won?,LOL, so many haters here, easy to tell who truly loves cars and who think they love cars.

  • sweet both are equaly slow. and wtf are those hideous fenders doing on there

  • @cmiller219 +1 for the fenders and I think the guy in the SC one didn't downshift or something.

  • that is an awesome lookin tc, real clean look

  • @underworld316 with those fender add-ons?

  • Everything you've said is OLD NEWS. I've heard it all before and almost everything is true but my STOCK SC tC gained 10-20 whp more than what you say 05-06 tC's should gain. Chill man. Damn. I'm done here there's nothing more to discuss.

  • I was done discussing stuff when we spoke in PM, but I see you replied again....lol.

  • Then u talk bout this bolt on tC can run with an stock SC tC which may be true and I've heard it at least 976 times in the past 4 years, where did that come from? U just have this sick fascination with hating on SC tC's. OK your cars faster than mine I really don't give a flying fuck and I don't know where all this shit is coming from.

  • I don't hate on S/C tC's dude. Just don't understand why anyone would want to waste money on one. When you can just get I/H/E and be as fast, or just get turbo and be faster. I just haven't had anyone give me a justifiable reason yet to why they bought one.

  • @rhythmnsmoke I think the only reason people would buy the trd supercharger over a turbo kit is to beg the dealer its a toyota racing develpoment part so warranty it lol

  • @rahu8670 With the number of issues it had, it's a good thing it did have a warranty. However, that warranty wasn't enough to put up with the issues if you ask me.

  • @rhythmnsmoke haha hell yea. I knew a couple of people with tc's at tha time I had my scion and all they could talk about was getting this supercharger. I told them they should go turbo because they will see better numbers and they would walk anybody in a tc with a trd supercharger lol.

  • @rahu8670 Yeah, and with a turbo, you don't have to worry about losing to a tC with just bolt-ons. Seen it happen way to often as well as doing it myself. It was just to costly to be a great solution. The cost for the TRD S/C when it came out was just as expensive as the turbo setups on the market. Now the S/C is no longer being produced....hmm...wonder why...lol

  • @rhythmnsmoke lol. I know if I had a tc id have a turbo kit on there asap. I luv top end! drives normal when not in boost and returns good gas mileage.

  • @rahu8670 Yes sir! Hence why I can't wait to get my new turbo setup. I miss my old one.

  • @rhythmnsmoke what happened with ur old turbo setup?

  • @rhythmnsmoke what happened with ur old turbo setup?

  • @rhythmnsmoke did u sell ur old turbo setup or something

  • @rahu8670 Yeah, sold the old turbo setup. PTuning RS setup is my next setup. Manifold is just about done.

  • @rhythmnsmoke koo do u have a built motor?

  • @rahu8670 Naw, not yet. Perhaps next season. Old turbo setup was around 300-320whp, new setup should be around 330-360whp.

  • @rhythmnsmoke o ok koo. so are u prepared to start building tha bottom end soon?

  • @rahu8670 When I'm ready to push 450-500 then I'll build the bottom and top. Rev to about 7800rpms. Will be decently quick. Car currently weighs 2550lbs. With my new setup, she should move fairly nice on the race track. Some other stuff I want to take care of first before the built motor, like reworking my suspension setup as well as getting the widebody and slicks underneath it.

  • @rhythmnsmoke 2550! that will be tha quickest street tc i know of! yea man that thing will move. u will need full suspension and slicks get any kind of traction with that light body and all that power. if u drive that on tha street, I would think twice about runnin u lol

  • @rahu8670 I have full suspension as well as LSD. I just want to redo my suspension. Going with stiffer spring rates and valving on the coilovers. I run competition DOT Kuhmo V710 tires now, but on the stock wheels. I want to get some 17x10s with 285-295 wide slicks on them. Yeah, it's still street legal :)

  • @rhythmnsmoke sounds like tha car is well invested. yea tires that wide should really help keep u planted, especially if ur talkin about slicks. are u gonna be running adjustable struts and shocks as well? hell yea im tryin to work a little on my suspension before i put tha blower on my car as well

  • @rahu8670 Yeah I'm running Tein SS-P coilovers, thinking of switching to Stance coilovers. Whichever way I go, I'm going to have them re-valved to run stiffer spring rates. It has a Progress Rear swaybar, no front swaybar and ES motor mounts. Still need to get the ES main bushing set to replace all the suspension bushings.

  • Oh Christ, here you go again with the turbo vs SC debate. Dude nobody is saying the SC is as fast or can even come CLOSE to a turboed tC I can't understand for the life of me y you keep bringing it up. The only issue here was when you said 06 SC's gain 40-50whp. Well I guess me, turbo mag, and modified mag are a RARE minority then.

  • yeah Ya are...lol. I thought we already discussed this over PM, or did you reply to this before we spoke?

  • I love it when you say turbo tc's out number sc tc's 15 to 1. I wish it was more like 20 to 1. I hate having something everyone else has. This makes my car more unique and quite rare.

  • Nothing rare or unique about the TRD S/C on a tC. Sorry man, I'm not putting you down, or what you have done to your tC (I'm on the same team). But lets be real here....lol.

  • Btw i dont agree with that article when they say "heck of a lot of money" and "feels somewhat stock afterwards". The $2k expense didn't effect me financially whatsoever and i think it feels like a COMPLETELY different car now especially on the highway where i spend most my time above 3000 rpms. Instant passing power.

  • It's apparent you have never rode in a Turbo tC and compared it to your S/C one. WORLD of difference in power and feel. Look at the video you are commenting on. Watch it again, and how it barely pulls away from a N/A tC. I can pull up vids of a bolt-on tC beating a S/C tC. Would you like links. You can choose to disagree, but it's pretty evident that the S/C needs a lot of work to get moving.

  • To put this in perspective for you. You could spend the $ on an Intake, Header, and exhaust (full exhaust), and be as fast as a guy who spent $2-3k dollars on just the S/C only. A Bolt-on tC runs the same 1/4 mile time as a S/C only tC. They both are capable of high 14sec runs. The article says it feels stock because nothing happens below 3-4k rpms and that 200whp they dynoed, only happens at Redline. So, when you get to 200whp, it's time to shift. Downside of being a Centrifugal S/C.

  • Oh no doubt bout its downsides, thats not the debate here. That article rips the sc apart but i just wanted u to see that a 60 whp on a 9.6 comp. ratio 2az is more common than u think. I feel like most of the sc dyno tests uve seen may have been flawed by the elements uve mentioned like temp., barametric pressure, alt., type of dyno, octane. Up here in ny its cool and dry hence better numbers.

  • More common than I think? You quoted perhaps 2 sources, I can pull up a lot more "actual" dyno sheets with less gains. So, I get my source from regular people who post up their dyno sheets. Your explanation makes no sense. Since when is Minority (60whp gain) greater than Majority (people with less than 60whp gain).

  • Heres another one. Go to Turbo magazines website and type "the great debate" in the search. Quote "we were somewhat surprised to see the TRD supercharged tc make 200.1 wheel horsepower, thats a gain of 59.2." This is also an 05-06 tc.

  • In that same article they wrote:

"While I am a huge TRD fan, I gotta say in this instance the supercharger kit is not the way to go if you want the biggest jump in power. The advantage of going the TRD route is that it is 50-state legal, warranty-compliant, and dealer installed. The downside is that it is a heck of a lot of money to spend for a forced-induction kit that feels almost stock afterward."

Hence why there are 15 (no real number) turbo tC's for every 1 S/C tC. Poor performance.

  • Sure did. To prove this requires me to purchase a scanner for my computer which i rarely use now that i have this here iphone. I'll work on it and ull be the first to see it. In the meantime, please tell me y modified mag got 60 whp out of there 05 sc.

  • The file can be sent from the dyno. No need to purchase a scanner. I didn't say that it "DIDN'T" happen. I said it's not as common. Different dyno's, temps, etc...all can sway numbers one way or the other. 60whp gain is not common on the 05-06 TRD S/C by itself alone with a stock Pulley and BPV.

  • Yea this is all old news. I dont know what to tell ya then rhythm. The FACT is that i gotta 60 whp increase on my 06 and that pretty much poops on all uve said. I guess i just feel sorry for anyone that dynoed less than that with their 05-06. However, If you go to modified magazines website and type supercharging project tc in the search you'll see their 05 dynoed nearly identicle to mine. Im not the only 1 apparently.

  • Did you dyno it? More than likely you didn't and just assume it's a 60whp increase, which it's not. Sorry to burst your bubble.

  • Where your dyno sheet of a completely stock tC with just the S/C on it?

  • Wow ur bored rhythm. Lol. Shouldnt u be takin ur kids trick or treatin? I dynoed my 06 tc with only an R1 dv and a kn filter at 202 to the wheels. I dont have the time u have to write a fuckin novel bout my fwd sc. Lol. Dont care neither im happy with it.

  • No need to get your panties in a bunch. I'm one for accurate information not some made up (exaggerated) stuff. Stick to the facts, it helps you in the long run. Congrats on being happy with it, no one said you wouldn't.

PS...no one said you had to read what I wrote either.

  • Yea rhythm what the fuck are u talking about u know better. Come on.

  • In reference to what? What are you confused about?

  • Now before i get flamed for using the words inexpensive and TRD sc in the same comment, i just want to let it be known that I bought my SC brand new for $1900 and installed it myself. Now if that aint the cheapest means of forced induction then flame on.

  • You can get a pieced together turbo kit for $2k.

  • No doubt bout the turbo being a more powerful means of forced induction but u gotta understand that most of the people that buy the TRD sc (myself included) are drivers that arent really into the whole racing scene. U wont find us talkin shit at the track or revving our shit at a stop light, we just want an inexpensive way to add a smooth 60 ponies to those wheels, with no lag, and the piece of mind a warranty brings.

  • More like 40 ponies and it doesn't make any contribution to the power band until around 3-4k rpms. It's a Centrifugal S/C, therefore produces that peak Hp at Redline. By that time you have to shift. Wish they made a Roots type for the tC, then perhaps it would get a little more respect for being a F/I application. Warranty is worthless. As most of the S/C people start adding stuff before warranty is up.

  • Warranty is worthless? Im not even sure what to say to you anymore because clearly you are not using you head. If they are dumb enough to add stuff and void it thats not my problem. A TRD S/C with warrenty is 100x better deal then a bolt on turbo. And what are you smoking? Its 60 WHP FACT.

  • The 05-06 tC dyno's 130-140whp. With S/C ONLY it dynos 180-190whp. The 07+ tC dynos a little more due to the higher compression. It dynos between 140-150whp. With S/C ONLY it dynos between 200whp. That is a 40-50whp increase, NOT 60whp. RARELY will you find one that barely gets 60whp out of it, and that can be purely based on the type of dyno, the ambient temps when it dynoed, etc... They do not dyno 60whp every single time and not more often than less either.

  • And you need to calm down kid. No one is attacking you. I own a tC and have since 2004. I was boosted BEFORE the S/C even came out for the tC. I was a member of ScionLife before there was even a F/I section for the tC. Don't talk to me like I'm a noob when I've been boosted longer than you have probably owned your tC. Take a look at my youtube page and you would know I'm no stranger to the tC's performance.

  • Your points dont make any sense AND you did your math wrong! haha Accourding to YOUR numbers thats a 50-60 HP increase lol. I laughed my ass off when I read that.

  • Your comprehension seems to be a little off. Here let me break it down for you. 180whp (after S/C) - 140whp before S/C = 40whp gain. 190whp (after S/C) - 150whp before S/C = 40whp gain.

    2007+

    200whp (after S/C) - 140whp (before S/C) = 60whp gain

    200whp (after S/C) - 150whp (before S/C) = 50whp.

Only in the later year tC's can you even get close to a 60whp gain. And that was simply based on the compression increase in the 2az. 8 out of 10 S/C tC's out there are PRE -2007 S/C.

  • well I have an 08and I KNEW it was a 60 hp gain but thanks for the info.

  • Only way to be certain is to have a dyno of before and after. Like I said 60whp gain is not the norm. It would have to be an 08 that makes the same whp as an 05-06 in order for it to have a 60whp gain. And Most 07+ make a little more power than the 05-06, but still only get to 200whp with the S/C on it.

  • And my Points come from Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost" book. Ever heard of it? Read it sometimes if you want to learn about F/I more.

  • Warranty is worthless yes that is what I said. Think about it, what's the purpose of a warranty? To help you when you have a mechanical failure. We drive Toyotas, do you really expect a mechanical failure in 30, 40, 50 or even 100k miles? After your warranty expires (60 - 100k miles) guess what your doing now....trying to upgrade a used up engine.

  • For people wanting more than a nominal gain in power, when something breaks they will pay for it. When warranty is up and something breaks, who do you think pays for it? YOU do. So, take a chance to break something with a low mileage engine, or take the chance of breaking something with a engine already with a substainal number of miles on it.....which do you think is better? Get my point. I learned to take my own transmission out, own engine out, suspension, turbo, etc. DIY only way to go

  • Well i must say that ive been researching the tC TRD sc since its birth in 06 through its demise in 09 and im confident enough to say i know more than most people bout them. Although many of the sc's have shit the bed due to poor INITIAL design, i have YET to find 1 tC that's engine has blown due to a TRD sc. Im sorry but you must be talking bout another sc for another car.

  • Have yet to find 1 blown? I can show you plenty if you want to find out. There are people with blown motors that had no additional mods on top of the S/C. If you can't find one, then you didn't look hard enough.

  • There has NEVER been an engine blowing from the S/C. Yes the S/C when first made has crapped out but they never took the engine with it unlike your cheap ass 2 grand bolt ons, which do it ALL the time.

  • Couple of things. 1) You need to go and make an account on ScionLife(dot)com. Then go to the F/I section for the tC. I want you to make a thread and ask people if there has ever been a blown motor S/C tC and see how many answers of "yes" you get. 2) Your comparison if flawed for blown motors vs blown motors when turbo tC's out number S/C ones 15:1 (for every ONE S/C tC out there, there are like 15 Turbo ones). OBVIOUSLY there are going to be more blown motors simply based on shear numbers.

  • My last TRD sc had no whine whatsoever. It hardly gave me 6 psi and small amounts of oil blew by the seals. Then the bearings spun out all in 5 monthes. POS.

TRD warrantied it and gave me a new unit that looked very different. They told me this new one had a redesigned shaft stronger bearings and seals. Now i have a very audible sc whine that can clearly be heard outside the car and im getting all 7 psi.

  • lol nastu fuckin cars man so fast its nasty scions for life

  • Scion does not make superchargers or make engines with them on it. A company TRD is the only one that sells then for Scions cause there a 2.4L Toyota engine. TRD is the one company scion does work with, its not like a cobalt or WRX in anyway shape or form. They are turbo not SC. From what i hear any way the SC for tC's suck

  • TRD stands for TOYOTA RACING DEVELOPMENT, and considering that Scion is owned by Toyota, and that you can have a TRD Supercharger installed on your TC when you buy the vehicle and it'll be covered under warranty through toyota.

There are other companies that make alternate S/C and Turbo kits for the TC. Superchargers just make power in a different way. Either way, I heard no S/C whine from either car, so I doubt either was supercharged.

  • Only other companies make turbo kits as mentioned. Vortech makes the S/C for the tC but TRD brands it. It's the only S/C made for the tC. But there are like 10 different turbo kits available...lol.

  • it's a centrfugal charger - no whine unfortunately - even with a 12psi pulley, it's barely audible. You're thinking roots style, which is different technology.

And no one else makes a s/c for the tC - just Vortech/TRD. Might be more coming out though since they stopped selling the Vortech/TRD charger back in May.

  • Vortech makes the supercharger for TRD, who gets to put their name on it for some reason.

  • Fyi, Scion is made by toyota and TRD stands for what? 'Toyota Racing Developement'. So yes the s/c is made by toyota and yes the s/c for the tC sucks. Turbo FTMFW!

  • I disagree, My TRD S/C has never had any problems and it is under warrenty unlike a bolt on turbo.

  • Yeah but if you know what your doing....you don't need any warranty. I know people alot of turbo scion owners who have never come close to blowing their engine including myself but I know as well as know of way to many people that are S/C that blew there engine and when they went turbo they never looked back. Also, you can't hit the numbers with a S/C that you can achieve with turbo.

  • Your S/C doesn't make up the rest of the S/C consensus. They break as much as a turbo setup if not more.

  • my brother has a TC, he bought it with no supercharger. he was asked if he wanted it installed before he signed the papers and such. its not like a cobalt SS where they make it with a supercharger out of factory. scion tc's dont come stock with a supercharger. you might see one at a lot with one installed, but thats because it was picked out to be installed, hence the higher than normal price. its an OPTION. period.

  • i see. well then I retract my previous statement. I still stand by what I said about warranty however.

  • omgggggg why S/S the TC? plzzz tell me why?? there is absolutely no reason to S/S the TC.....the kid obviously dont know shit about cars and got that S/S installed the day his mommy bought the car for him....the TC is meant to be turboed ....period....if it was turboed this vid who b much better...the turbo TC would have started walkin on him the moment he stomped on the gas...

  • The supercharger comes stock as an option from the factory. It's a TRD supercharger

  • lol sleepisyummy what is your point? i know it comes stock as an OPTION...but that option would cost you 2k for the supercharger alone plus 1k extra for installation...thats 3k+ for a supercharger that gives u 40 extra WHP....i can spend 3k for a very good turbo and put out close to 300 HP++....whats the better deal? the only benefit of the supercharger is that its still under TRD warranty....but who cares about warranty when your tuning a car anyways lol

  • My point is, the Tc comes from the factory with the supercharger installed, and you were acting like this person had to have it installed which is not the case. You can test drive a S/C Tc at a dealership. And I would care about warranty. You don't have to tune the car just because it has forced induction. Go I/H/E just like any other car, and leave it on the stock settings.

  • if u go to a scion dealer 14 out of 15 scions will not have the Supercharger already installed. and if it is installed the price tag is a 3k bump.....whats your point again?

  • actually most people paid 3k for their s/c and 1k for install lol they can be made fast but at what cost. way more than 8psi turbo

  • Its only 6 psi......imagine it with a smaller pulley putting out 15 ;)

  • Are you kidding? I got a 4 year warrenty for my S/C. $ f*cking Y E A R S. I have seen so many people blow through bolt on turbos in just one year. The S/C is WAY worth it. Plus once the warrenty is up, but a smaller pulley and it will be pushin 300.

  • Ya, because most of those kids run their boosted car on regular gas when premium is REQUIRED for turbo. S/C will NEVER hit the numbers that a turbo'd tC can hit.

  • Aint that the truth. It's not worth it when a Full Bolt-on tC will run the same 1/4 mile times as a S/C only tC.

  • Anyone know of any Scion and or Toyota and or TC clubs/groups.shows in the Chicago area?

  • i own a s/c tc.. i ran 13.20..what!! zero to sixty!!!

  • that is literally the biggest waste of $3k ever. If a s/c tc only runs 15.5-14.9 my N/A set up must be nice then. i run 14.8 check the vids. Turbo comming soon

  • Why do people have to judge? Everyone chooses their own route and goals and no one has the right to put them down or say it sucks.

  • i would hate to be that guy with the s/c.

  • that factory SC set up is garbage im sticking a 9.5psi pulley on mine before i even get it on. im not wasting my time with the regular one

  • its faster. A N/A tC with a good driver can do 15.4 15.5 a supercharged witha good driver can do 14.9. I have raced this supercharged tC on the track and it got me by probaly 3 car lengths

  • N/A'ed tC with I/H/E can do 14.7-14.8. Stock tC with good driver can do 15.1-15.4

  • Imposible....with a great driver you can do 15.6, not 15.1

  • Really, is that why I had it on Video over on Putfile before it got taken over by Edmunds. I can send you the link to the thread on the Scion forums where I posted the link to my video of me running 15.1 - 15.2 and you can read the discussion if you wish.

  • Ok is easy your scion tc is an abortion...i own a scion crew....please if you ran 15.1 you have to make at least 150whp

  • LOL...an abortion, that's the first I've heard it put that way...lol. At the time (which was about 3 years ago), it was during an all Scion drag shootout.

  • The next day was the car show/dyno day. It put down 140whp, and I think it was around high150s wtq. I had a full exhaust and that was all for power. Then I went to making around 320whp/320+wtq, now back down to stock again with just exhaust for power, since I sold that turbo kit and waiting to buy the new PTuning turbo kit and make 370-400whp stock motor still. When I get a built motor, I'll push it to 450-500whp. I'll be happy with somewhere in the 11's. But I'm into Time Attack mostly.

  • I'll take that link. thas something ive been wanting to see.

  • I agree with you. My friend has a scion tc with intake header exhaust and he's running very very low 15's. People don't realize that there's a 2.4L engine in there and every mod helps out alot.

  • lol so a SC tc is not that much faster than a stock one ...wow

i have a turbo tc btw

  • i like the scion in the video

  • Def dont have 200 whp with full bolt ons maybe 175 to get to 200whp u would need a full tune to get there.

  • lol, he paid like 3 grand for a factory s/c and gout about 200 hp...ive spent less then a grand on bolt ons, and im sittin at about the same.

  • wow what a great supercharger... that did so much.. get a fucking turbo u idiot..

  • sad

  • wow..that wasn't much of a difference.

  • take that shit out and drop a turbo in it.. superchargers are no match...........

  • Not worth the Money IMO.

I had a supercharged 06 si and when i'd line up with a N/A si the difference was night and day.

  • It also depends on how much boost he's running and what pulleys and how hes tuned. If you dont tune em right the trd s/c is only gonna get you 60 or so extra hp. and thats sad considering that price tag..

  • You pay for convenience. Smog legal.

  • The only tune a s/c tc gets is the reflash. But if u add supporting mods like a intake full header back exhaust even a bigger pully then u need something like the greddy emanage to tune. This car just has the reflash

  • Yeah but for an extra a hundred you can get the dezod SC pulley and it's good to 11.5 psi and that will take you to 95-120 hp gain. It's proven in super street.

  • Naturally Aspirated is N/A thats ur normal bolt on car intake exhaust pullys and such there F/I for forced induction aka turbocharged and supercharged

  • wats da difference between an s/c and n/a tc ???

  • wtf is a n/a car?

  • Naturally aspirated... no boost

  • ROFLMAO

  • whats so funny? lol

  • lol i thought it was funny too. the guy must be a bad driver or something... it should DEF pull away faster than that from a N/A tC.

  • Not really, that's how slow the S/C'er for the tC is. A N/A'ed full bolt-on tC could keep up with it, that's sad but a fact.

  • wow... thats a sad fact indeed. glad i didnt get one.

  • That's why turbo tC's outnumber S/C'ed tC's 10 to 1.

  • it depends on every car, some are faster than others. My buddy's tC witha K&N panel filter and a flowmaster muffler can beat a tC with a full intake/header/exhaust.... Both manual tranny.

  • hm.. that's it? i was always wanted to see a vid like this but i thought the s/c'ed tc would kill the n/a tc.

    bots cars manual?

mods on both cars? either you have a really fast n/a or hes got a slow s/c tc! i got megan header/custom hks cat back (stock down pipe) k&n CAI [manual] i raced my bro stock tc i pulled away just like he did in this vid. then i raced another tc he had intake, header, exhaust but different brands and he killed me!by two car..

this s/c tc didnt look fast at all.

  • They went with supercharger because its under warranty. I asked if they were gunna mod the supercharger and he said no he wants it to stay under warranty. I have way more respect for people with superchargers then turbos. Esp people with superchargers that put down really good numbers. But a turbo tC is yummy! I wanna turbo mine very much so.
