  • Wow you really see the negative camber at the first corner on this video! Epic track but unfortunately taking F1 there would ruin the track. Half mount Panorama would be gravel traps not walls.... a shame but the V8 supercars deserve to have a track like that to race on. Right up there with Indy, Monaco and the Worlds greatest tracks!

  • hell yeah off tap ppl bring em ere f1 commitee

  • Great video! Fantastic circuit!

  • HOLDEN

  • Very cool stuff great video!! :D

  • When I first saw that name Lowndes I thought it was Jessica Lowndes, the actress doing a lap around Bathurst.

    Anyhoo, Great video, Thanks!

  • Tlstecam I don't think anyone with some level of intelligence actually believes Bathurst will ever hold an F1 event or even have a chance to do so, it's just enjoyable to imagine it happening and a bit of a laugh at the same time. Relax and enjoy the footage and fun associated with this promotion :P

  • Wonder if they told him to watch out for kangaroos lol wouldn't be nice encountering one of them at 300kph

  • Bathurst will never host the Formula 1's....... plain and simple. And here is why! Sure Monacco has no run off area's, but what is formula 1 without Monacco?? Useless, monacco is only there because of history and the amount of money it brings, I know people that dont watch Formula 1's but watch Monacco. It wont go back to Adelaide it wont go to Sydney, again the tracks are not safe enough, thats why if Australian GP is to continue, it will move to a purpose built venue.. READ BELOW

  • Buthurst is miles from no where, Mangy Cours shut down because the transport to and from was terrible, bathurst would need massive infrastructure upgrade to facilitate the F1's, including airport.

And the money to set up the F1's there with the cyclone fences, the list goes on.

now now haters, dont get me wrong, i would love for it to happen, I live in Vic and go to the V8's every year, and im going to Singapore this year for the f1's, so im in favour of it, but it wont happen.

  • To the fools saying Bathurst doesn't have enough runoff areas for F1. Have you seen Monaco? Crikeys, even Albert Park (yep, another street track) doesn't have much run off. On the high speed section of Bathurst, there is sufficient runoff. The only thing stopping Bathurst is money. The whole track would need to be reprofiled and resurfaced to smooth it. The obligatory Media facilites etc would need an upgrade (or extension ) due to the higher numbers. But seriously, Bathurst COULD have the F1!

  • if ur a true f1 fan, check out my newest video (F1 2011 - Australian Race Start)

please subscribe me.. for me to upload more videos

    plz subscribe me thanks

  • Hopefully this has started a trend, it'll be cool to see other F1 drivers taking an interest in the track to see who is the quickest around it.

  • jenson... jenson... jenson... jenson... jenson... jenson... jenson... *walks away* JENSON! ha

  • Thanks for posting that, well done....

  • Go away helicopter your ruining it.

  • F1 at Bathurst would be absolutely bullshit.. (in a good way)..

It would be like Aussie Spa

  • You know as someone from melbourne i say let bathurst take it on...give's me a reason then to come up there more than once a year...love the place.....only thing i hate is that 1 person can make all us mexicans look like dickheads...thumbs up for bathurst.........

  • Epic

  • @robinalexlewis great attention to detail you are correct. this is due to a corner called "the dipper" where the track is both changing direction rapidly and descending even faster. Using a regular ride height on the F1, it would be unable to maintain all four wheels on the track during this corner. This is purely a guess, however i have done thousands of laps in bathurst in an F1 car on simulators and they all had this problem on that corner, and the only solution i found was raising ride heigh

  • @Deano185 That is the feeling that I have always had, for me, doing what they did for this one off time is great, but with 20, or 22, or how many cars they have now day, would provide an other problem from what I can see, again it got to do with "The Dipper", the fact that the F1 are open wheelers, and that part of the track is such tight left right long with the steepness, I can see alot wheels knocking in to one an other.

  • /watch?v=8UdJZgMoGss

  • This is my hometown, so naturally I had to go and take a peek! Amazing sound. Great day.

  • Best looking McLaren since the MP4-14

  • I picked up on thing, the way the F1 car set up, it was set up higher off the ground then normal...

  • @robinalexlewis That would be so it doesn't bottom out, you see, this race track is on a slight hill, and hills have dips, and if your car cannot handle a dip it will bottom out and possibly damage it!

  • @TheSkilltrain Yes, I am aware of that, and that is why they rased it higher than normal this time, the down side is that from what I can see is that with the modern F1 cars, it would effect the down force.

  • Yes F1 to Bathurst!

  • Great first video.. Awesome to see a F1 go around the track for once

  • great footage mate

hope to c u doin more vids

  • Fabulous! Take your camera to Melbourne this weekend! Wish I could be there, but its a long way from Canada for a weekend.

  • jenson can u sign my phone? JENSON SIGN MY PHONE? JENSON!!!!!!!

  • for your first upload on youtube you have done well. btw thanks for shareing this video with us all to see.

  • Bernie is trying his hardest to get the f1's out if Australia. Our time zone does not appeal to his European audience. Bathurst under lights? There's a promoters wet dream and all that would ever be. Bathurst had to exist in Europe in the 1950's to exist today for F1. Spa is a mere shadow of it's former self. We also saw what they did to Hockenhiem.

  • @youngwilliam8170 problem is bernie already feels silverston is to far away from the closest city so they will not like bathurst as its to far away. Also they would almost have to butcher the trackside areas to bring in the grand stands they would require.

  • Melbourne have nothing get them up there and lets go racing

    wot great footage thanks mate

Get them here Bathurst and NSW Goverment to be

  • Luv to see the GP there. Would like to see the footage going through the cutting. It would be a great race on a tight track, too tight maybe?

  • It's amazing how loud the chopper is then the F1 comes over the hill and just completely wipes the sound out. <3 the sound of an F1 car.

  • They should have F1 at Manfeild !

  • Bring back the Skylines and turbo cars. Pushrods are so 1960.

  • @MrBantam3 someone should inform GM....

  • @1uzv8m8 Quad cams are OK. GM and Ford just don't want to make them. Get those engines screaming.

  • F1 at Bathurst absolutely! One of the best tracks in the world. Imagine the carnage at the Cutting in the rain! It would be a better race than at these stupid new Tike yawn-o-dromes. Probably cost a bit to upgrade track to F1 safety standards?

  • Fab footage. Loving that soundtrack.

  • Ok. Let me get this straight. One of the worlds best drivers, in one of the worlds best cars is a second slower then one of Australia's best drivers in one of V8's best cars. Sorry I am not impressed with JB. Very cool video though.

  • @ha3ap Button was the faster driver by a second, not Lowndes. Button also had to ensure the car came back in one piece so Lowndes could drive it afterwards.

Neither of them were pushing though, the car is nowhere near it's limits in any footage I've seen of the Bathurst laps so the times are relatively meaningless.

  • @finch9899 I was wrong about the times with JB vs Lowndes in the F1 car but, any driver of that level only wants to win. I say that they were both pushing it as hard as they dared to. JB just did not impress me. Greg Lowndes did impress me a lot. The same thing happened with Juan Pablo Montoya and Jeff Gordon a few years ago. NASCAR vs F1. F1 drivers have a tougher time adjusting to the heavier cars then the V8/ NASCAR drivers do adjusting to F1 cars. Rally drivers are the best drivers. IMHO.

  • only one second slower? not bad for a "first time"

  • @party4fun Considering it was Jenson's first time at Bathurst and Craig knows the place better than you know your way home from work/school.

Still plenty of room for a better lap time IMHO.

  • Comment removed

  • Both V8s sound awesome. The F1 takes the cake, though. Holy shit that thing is loud.

  • JB in the car for the enduro rounds?! how cool would that be!

  • just insane give lowndes are ride !!!!!!!!!

  • lol @ the poor girl calling after JB.

  • rad, god that sounded good around there . . and I gotta say, JB has gone UP on my list since his BAR days - Thanks for posting this

  • Melbourne do want it but the gay government are complaining that they're spending too much, But other countrys are spending heaps more, so they should think about that.

The people of Melbourne want it to stay, the drivers want it to stay, we'll just have to wait and see what happens when the contract ends in 2015.

  • @MuzzDrifter94 I'm sure Adelaide would be happy to have it again - Adelaide is God's waiting room for sure but there's no doubt the F1 event they put on was heaps better than the standard run-of-the-mill show that Melbourne puts on each year.

  • Thumbs up if you want next years F1GP to be at BATHURST!!! Melbourne don't want it anymore.

  • @obts10 They could do it... considering Monaco is just as tight in a lot of spots.....

  • @obts10 unfortunately someone would have to spend a fortune to get bathurst up to F1 spec, the pit area and safety features don't meet minimum standards. It would also cost the F1 teams a lot more in transport as there is no international airport in bathurst :)

  • @obts10 we probs wouldnt want to lose it to NSW

  • @obts10 Thumb up if u want to see half the F1 drivers DEAD 'cause theirs no run-off @ Bathurst.

  • @jerryjoe88 Like in Monaco? or parts of other street circuits? Many drivers would love more challenging tracks, but they have no saying in that matter or many others - and that's a big shame.

Bathurst: depends on how much this track suits F1 cars (it's quality basically), how much did they had to compromise car setup and therefore lap time for this event.

  • @obts10 So so true. I dont care at all if its taken away from melb.

  • @obts10 If Melbourne doesn't want the Grand Prix anymore give it back to us, the Adelaide GP. The original home of the Australian F1GP. Adelaide street circuit is just awesome.

You can't have a GP at Bathurst anyway because the F1 cars are too light and dependant on downforce to be driven hard over hills. Need a flat circuit for modern F1 cars

  • @riz44 Thats where it should of fucken stayed!

  • I do know that.

I just thought it was strange that the clip was headed up as "Vodfaone F1" car. It's not a Vodafone F1 car. It's a McLaren,.

  • Vodafone F1 car?

  • @EricIrl McLaren is sponsored by Vodafone.

  • V8 Supercar is 17 seconds a lap slower than the F1 and he wasn't even trying.

  • Great footage thanks for posting! What a sight & sound would loved to have seen that!!

  • Absolutely awesome thankyou for posting this up, Great to see Craig was within a second of JB.

  • cant wait to go now the sound on here is better then TV

  • @TheDigit71 Me too! Driving from Adelaide tomorrow morning so excited!

  • frigin awesome!

  • The F1 looks like it's going so slow compared to a V8
