Tanks are like battleships, they are a warmachine of the past... Utterly useless to spend ten's of millions for a device that can be destroyed by a 50$ rocket.
@GodHatesWar Yeah I know but still, I think its an outdated weapon. Look at all the anti-tank weapons today, guided missiles that can engage from miles away, RPG's with HEAT warhead that can destroy modern armor.. Its just not cost effective imo.
You should look at the Israeli-Lebanon war in 2006, Israel lost like 77 tanks in the first few days, all destroyed by a guerilla group with only half decent rpg's..
@RaptorDiablo Don't mind my name, yes it did store the ammunition very exposed, but later models were considered to be quiet succesfull in protection. Plus they're very reliable.
@RaptorDiablo a direct hit that penetrates the armor would kill the crew in the turret even if it doesn't hit the ammo storage. learn more about tanks please. the ammo storage design was not perfected because T-72 is the 2nd tank in the world to use an automated reloading system. T-62 was the 1st one. T80 and T90 have a better secured ammo storage and hull, not to mention all the active defenses they have against projectiles.
Every tank has it's weak point. you think the abrams is invincible ?
@Cnupoc "Learn more about tanks please"... I clearly said, it was one of the EASIEST tanks to DESTROY, not to kill the CREW, I am aware most modern tank rounds are designed to penetrate armor and kill the crew inside.
@GodHatesWar i'll answer that, the fact is that the t-72 might be the best tank in the century, but a bigger and heavy tank, like the leopard and the M1 abram tank can be destroy.

@unab84 Or use artilery rounds of enemies as IED, so it costs nothing to destroy a tank of enemy with his own weapons.

@unab84 They're still a major part of all military installations in the world.

Great machine but don't you have to be like 5'4 to drive these things.

probably the easiest tank to destroy.

@RaptorDiablo Why so?

@GodHatesWar First of all.... not to be mean or anything but....why should you even be here (your name).
And Russian tanks store shells under the turret, a direct hit would probably set those off, blow the turret sky high and instantly kill the crew
