How the people of Cuba were treated was not that great. Embargoes did little - his people starved because his economy was crap......it's just the truth.

That was a contributing factor yes but as you know most communists economies fail anyway after the fall of the soviet bloc the embargo was loosened to allow US farmers to trade in Cuba. Where do we go from here???

Fidel Castro was a great leader. He overthrew a US-sponsored corrupt regime, and as a result he was demonised. The US do not appear to be bothered at all about undemocratic regimes such as Saudi Arabia and similar states where human rights are violated. They do not care about democracy outside the US.
