  • Just so you all know, the bikes featured here (and showing up across the US) are Bixi Bikes. Designed, manufactured, and licensed out of Montreal, Canada. It's a huge success story for us.

  • maybe we should start wealth sharing if bike sharing has worked so well across the nation !

have big oil and wall street share the wealth

  • Shouldn't the service be called "Capitol Bikeshare"?

  • They have this in London now, so I have seen.

  • nice

  • WASHINGTON DC. WORST CITY IN AMERICA. it's full of scum. good thing i live on west coast. as far away from this as possible.

  • I see some kids here dont understand how life in the US looks outside of their parents' farm. Listen up children. In the far far away land called NYC (for example) lives so many people that most of them have to live in small apartments in big big buildings. Most of them dont have any room to keep a bicycle helmet let alone a bicycle. In many neighborhoods you will have to drive around for hours in search of parking spot if you come back home after 7pm. Go figure why would n'body need dis prog.

  • Metro. doesn't allow you to bring your own bicycle onto its trains, except on weekends. So this is a great solution in order to combine train rides with bicycles!

  • communism i see?

  • ....so why can't you buy your own bike and ride it to work? why does the government have to do a program like this? stupid thing to do,

  • @sharinganclan213 you can. it's just convenient not worrying about having your bike stolen or storing your bike in a tiny apartment. no one is forcing these people to sign up for the program. there is obviously a niche market for it. I don't plan to use it, but I think it's a great idea. Less cars on the road and more alternative public transportation is always great to hear.

  • @nushadow2008 if there was profit to be made, then someone would have thought of this already.

  • @sharinganclan213 the infrastructure just wasn't there yet. I'm sure some Joe-schmoe's have thought of it before

  • @sharinganclan213 Why is it stupid? They do it for the same reason they have busses. And taxis. And subways. It's a transportation option. Some people have and use their own cars, but a lot of people rely on public transportation instead. Some people don't want to deal with owning a bike that can be stolen. Some people don't have room to store bikes. Yeah, it sure is stupid to encourage people to be physically active.

  • Me gusta.

  • Can you get AIDS from a bicycle seat?

  • Should be usable in cities with high densities

  • The more bikes in this world the better.

  • been here in melbourne australia for ages now and is a complete failure. very expensive waste of time.

  • @incredingo - it's a failure in Australia (and here in NZ) because of our failed helmet laws. Shared bike hire has never worked in any country with a helmet law for adults. Everywhere else, it's going gangbusters. And the very successful london 'Boris Bikes" scheme doesn't have a single death or serious injury. It's pretty much the safest way you can travel - particularly factoring in the health advantages. In Seville, bikeshare saw bike modal share go 1% (like Aus & NZ) to 7% in 5 yrs.

  • NOW IF THEY CAN JUST GET ALL THE OLD PEOPLE OFF THE ROAD DRIVING SO THEY DON'T KILL YOU. LOL

  • Great Idea, but one thing left out of the story...Is there a cost for useing the bikes?

  • @SharkDude1 Yes. Why wouldn't there be? You can rent from a day-a year.

  • it's not just about having a bike, it's standardized. it's ridiculous to be the only one having a bike to go to work and nowhere to leave it when you're working

  • fight against the oil crooks

  • Wow, the USSA (United Soviet States of America). Too bad--very sad people can no longer afford their own bikes.

  • 1. just buy a bike at your local sports store or walmart. . .

    2. funny how we are turning into China. .. you know the same people we bashed years ago for having to ride bikes everywhere. . . .. . irony

  • @pimpinnevaslipin Let us not buy a bike from wal-mart_the local bike shop is good.

  • @pimpinnevaslipin Biking is a lot better idea. Try to live closer to your workplace, then bike there. I we start biking there won't be traffic problems anymore.

  • @pimpinnevaslipin traffic is annoying man, sometimes you dont want to waste money on gas or wait in traffic.

  • is this new in the U.S?

  • basically the people payed for this and if you want to use them you need to pay again.. HAHAHAHA.

Funny how the government loves to fuck u in the ass.

    Great idea though.

  • I like this idea. Pittsburgh needs this

  • The speedfreaks in my town have been running a bike exchange for a long time. I've exchanged five of my own in the past few years.

  • Now this is moving forward

  • Haha rickroll next gen

  • Stupid, buy a bike then, don't waste my tax money... I can only hope for a president who isn't a democrat or a republican, but a logical leader with a little or both sides..

  • Your face
