  • it's a copy of legendary Hollywood movie "Sound of Music"... what pathetic situation in Bollywood...... we don't have script now and din't had script then too

  • @sabhigo25 This is not a 100% copy of "Sound of Music". If you want to go on that track then did you know that the legendary Bollywood film, "Sholay" was a copy of a famous Hollywood movie, "Once upon a time in the West"? Starring Henry Fonda and Charles Bronson and released in 1969? Amitabh was copying Charles Bronson. However, let's leave such things aside and enjoy the movie and the music. This film is an adaptation and NOT a copy of the "Sound of Music". May God Bless you all.

  • still think it's a rip off the sound of music though ; )

  • : ) real 70s feel

  • i can listen to this song forever without getting bored

  • hyhyhy ;D

  • lovely song..enjoyed ..

  • I dance like this in my living room 1:58

  • The clip's intro. note says "You need genius like Gulzar and Pancham to conceptualize such a marvel, and Kishore and Asha to materialize it... " Rahul Dev Burman, the music composer, must have been named ahead of all of them. This is the usual blunder, to appear giving explicit credit to Music Director. That is how Asha Bhonsle and OP Nayyar got estranged, when the fault was really Filmfare contest organizers'. DONT REPEAT THIS MISTAKE PLS.

  • I always knew Pancham da & R D Burman were the same person.. Brush up ur knowkedge my friend..

  • You are right, and I knew too. I just wanted to highlight the fact the Music Director must be given the FIRST CREDIT. Gulzar or other names shd. come next.

  • why? Is the lyricist's contribution inferior to the music directors? No wonder the standard of lyrics is going down...people don't appreciate them enough.

  • What's da name of dis movie?

  • the name of the movie is Parichay :)

i love this movie.. i don't know why..

  • Its imported American car as in old days which are left hand drive !

  • shouldn't the steering wheel be on the RHS?

  • vilayati gadi hai bhai :)

  • me no speak hindi!!!!

  • Imported cars form USA was considered luxury. 60's Chevy Impala cars were popular and came with Left hand side drvie.

  • this is a real classic song, still its melodious, god knows when can we get these songs back ? I heard many times that History repeats, but when ????????????????

  • This is a copy of Sound of music... but the hindi version is good.. children are cute

  • Sound of Music is also very good. Children in that movie are also cute.

  • " parichay " was one of the best movies involving kids, based on the hollywood oscar movie " the sound of music ",story, script & lyrics writers who made these movies for all ages, times, are no more born in this kalyug.

  • How come bollywood does not make movies for children and family any more?........sad

  • hahaha el niñillo

  • I think I see a little bit of resemblance between the young mrs. Bachchan and today's Konkona Sen Sharma. Does anyone else see that?

  • How does that matter ?

  • i see the resemblance :)

  • me too

  • see culture is not the clothes u wear it is certainly the way of living.how many americans treat their parents with divinity as we do.so many marriages fail their coz of disbelief and tendency of not adjusting.if this is america then i tell u it is cultural shock

  • @bjprss1 What does americans and culture have to do with this hindi song? Anyway if we want to compare like that, there are many things to compare. It is true that divorce rate is high in America. It is also equally true that many Indians simply suck it up and stay in failed marriages (which you call as "adjustment"), simply because divorce is not so much socially accepted in India.

Their culture is not inherently better/worse than ours. You cannot compare things like that.

  • What is it with India and boats? And look at their clothes, totally from the western culture. Not to mention the car design, totally American. Where is India in this video?

  • A country is made up of its people. There is India in people of this song and meaning of this song.

  • oh, thanks for the return comment. I probably came off dishonestly according to my nature. I just like to complain about things, I cannot help it. I do love culture from all parts of the world. Seeing how groups of people come together to form thoughts, what is acceptable and such. I'm a little ticked off at America though, it seems to have robbed a lot of countries of their culture. I was really complaining about not having seen more of what India really is, I mean its culture.

  • India is in our hearts!

  • I live in US and used to think like u do. I have now realized India has this tremendous capacity to absorb different cultures and yet retain its core culture. Indians obvously do not feel threatened to experiement.

  • well said brother !!

  • I used to think the same and grew up with the same ideals but look whats happening now - attack on Christians, SIMI, that rascal Raj Thackeray, Bajrang Dal its a mess.

  • @justinjm This is what urban India looks like..has looked like for decades. The western culture is not such an alien concept in urban India. After all, India has not been insulated from any western influences, trends and thoughts like China was in the past for example. The English language is a part and parcel of our lives too. That is just what India is. Rich in its original language, music, culture and value systems yet open to diverse influences. Makes us truly unique.

  • kishore kumar is mind blowing

  • the lady she's so beautiful :)

  • I agree she's beautiful, she's jaya bachan!

  • Will some of you bunch of idiots let us watch and listen to this good song in peace. We do want to know your copy nonsense opinion at all.

  • The movie's name is Parichay.

  • nice song from which film is this

  • what a nice song.

  • ok that niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • kids are lovely...

  • .,/

  • The lil girl dances so well...

  • very good song, the small childrens played very well

  • Don't want to put down Rogers and Hammerstein, but the lyrics in THIS song have much more meaning than "Do-a-deer a female deer"!!

  • That's cuz the movie too is an adaptation of Sound of Music.

  • Awesome Song.

  • "Copied the TUNES?" Man Waji Rao-ji please grow up. Can you provide detail?

  • The theme of this movie has been copied by GULJAR from a great english movie "SOUND OF MUSIC"..lyrics,dialouges and even music tunes have been copied by RD...poor guys...this song is a Hindi version of Julie Andrews's english version of DO RE MI...R D AND GULZAR...BIG CHORS..HATE THEM...NO CREATIVITY....

  • even copying requires talent.Could you have done it and make it sound so melodious?Indians cant do anything but criticise successful people.

  • Well rightly said.

  • I think the original point was the western world owns the rights to the seven notes - "Do re mi fa so la Ti" and all desi composers are guilty of copying them and renaming them to "sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa" for convenience.

[I hope there is enough sarcasm there to go around ;-)]

  • copying or no copying criticism in this case is unwarranted --

P.S:Were u trying to be sarcastic? I never realized.

  • "Copied the TUNES?" There are 2 possibilities - Either you haven't heard the songs of any ONE of the 2 movies - OR you're so dumb that you sit on the TV and watch the sofa (no wonder everything seem the same to you).

The tunes are in no way similar, Mr Rao. Where your "hatred" is concerned, it's evident that you hate mankind, coz you think you're one of the best of them, and you know how unbearable and intolerable you are.

  • (continued).....

Are you aware that each and every music composer has copied from their western counterparts at some point or the other? Be it Naushad, Salil Choudhury, Khayyam, Madan Mohan, SD Burman, Chitragupt, Ravi, Usha Khanna....name anyone who comes to your mind...ANYONE. But if you think copying is even a wee bit easier than making a new tune, your brain is in a worse condition than I thought it was. If ignorance is bliss, you must be the happiest person alive.

  • hi sata, I would respectfully disagree with you on this song. I don't recall any song from Sound of Music sounding anything like this tune. Lyrics-wise you are right, there is one song in sound of music that starts with the notes on the scale, ..but that is not anything new. As far as the plot of the movie goes, I would not know since i've never watched this movie....but copying is nothing new in bollywood, so I wouldn't be surprised. The name 'bollywood' itself is copy

  • I think you have a point. There is a song in Sound of music that takes the notes of the scale and makes words and sentences with it. This is basically the same thing. You are right. But the tune of this song is different.

  • The kids are so cute!

  • Good One. I sing this on Harmonica sometimes !!!
