Am I right when I say that when the lights turn red, the trip you 'placed' on the card has like 'expired' so the conductor can easily see if you are on the train withou paying?
Thank you very much. I wanted to know that because I'm researching the different RFID-PT-payment systems around the globe, as we here in the Netherlands, are trying to implement a paying card nationwide for all public transport-companies.
Because our PT-chipcard is a real pain in the ass for the customers but every company refers to hongkong and other cities or countries 'where coparable systems are in operation' I started to search for differences.

JR東日本首都圏管内では、次の路線の普通/快速列車でグリーン車を連結してます。
東海道線（東海道本線 東京 - 熱海）
宇都宮線（東北本線 上野 - 宇都宮）
成田線 / 内房線 ‐ 総武本線 - 横須賀線
湘南新宿ライン（東海道線 / 横須賀線 - 埼京線 - 宇都宮線 / 高崎線）
常磐線快速列車（上野 - 土浦 / 水戸）

「SUGOCA、nimoca（めじろんnimoca等含む）、はやかけんは利用できない」そうだったのですか！
私はてっきり、これらのカードがSuicaグリーン券として利用できるものと思っていましたが、これを見て少しがっかりです。まあ幸い私はビュースイカやモバイルSuicaも持っていて、何度かビューのほうでこのシステムを利用したことがあります。
九州のICやICOCAも、早く利用できるようにしてほしいですね。
（あと、鉄道博物館の入場券でも。）

システム上は共通のはずですが、チケット情報の書き込みで何か問題があるのでしょうかね？
鉄博ですが、入場券システムにはSUGOCAは使えませんが、館内のレストランや売店やショップでの支払いには、SUGOCAは使えます。
先月名古屋のJR東海「リニア・鉄道館」に行ってきましたが、ここの入場券購入にはSUGOCAは使えます。（但し、入場券は二次元バーコードが印字された紙片です。）

E231系の場合、僕はモーター車両じゃないと乗れない(インバータが好きな)ので、残念ながらグリーン車には乗れませんが、モロやモロハだったら、グリーン車に乗ってますね。
自由席ですし、乗車券とグリーン券で乗れますから(^O^)。

僕が乗車した時は先月の、平日午後1時30分でした。
特別快速の、行先は小田原行でした。
ですから、運行区間や乗車駅の影響は高いと考えられます。 ちなみに夜間はサラリーマンの方が利用することが多く、
おそらくどちらの階であっても混雑するのではないでしょうか。

Ticket data are written in at a chip card if I buy a ticket before a train ride at a station. I use the chip card.
