I don't want a mayor and city council, sitting in a big house that I pay for with my hard work, making big salaries that I pay for, telling me that they need to raise taxes because revenues are down. If you want your street repaired, call the county. If you want street lights call Progress Energy, they will tell you how much your village is going to have to pay for them. I came here to get away from politicians and their begging for money. Crying in the park isn't going to gain anything.
People have an unrealistic expectation of what $240 a year gets them. All the things that the residents complain about Roads, street lights etc.. comes comes from the County paid for by county taxes. not the APV. The only thing the APV does is enforce the covenants, maintain the common area, (Community center Parks, Greenways). If we become a city most of the roads, will become the city's responsibility, which we will pay for in city tax, but that won't lower your county tax. so we will.....
be paying twice for services we already get. That includes Fire/Police. The report clearly states no City Police/Fire is planned at the mil rate used. The City will have to contract to the county for it's services. Which again the cost will be past on to us, but our County taxes, which already cover the cost for this will not be lowered. In essence we will have a Bureaucracy that will have a minimum $21m Budget, $13M of which will just go to the Bureaucratic admin, for the same services ....
that the APV provides for $6.6M a year. If you want any additional services like our own Police/Fire be prepared to pay more than double what you pay APV. All you have to do is look at our neighboring cities with similar populations to see that. It actually may be more since we don't have a large business district as them to offset costs to residence. So be careful what you wish for, you may just get it, and we'll all be paying the price later.
For the first time we have the opportunity to decide if Poinciana becomes a city or not.
It is a unique opportunity that gives us the chance to come together as a community, united, with the same goal in mind, our future. So, come join us on October 27, 2009 at 6: P.M. at Liberty High School where the Delegation of State Legislators will attend and hear the reasons why Poinciana should or should be incorporated.

Dear Juan,
For the first time we have the opportunity to decide if Poinciana becomes a city or not.
It is a unique opportunity that gives us the chance to come together as a community, united, with the same goal in mind, our future. This is YOUR only chance to help!
