I understand...after reading outside literature (much of which I have read myself) why you would want to make the decision to cut your ties...but just because the organization is imperfect (and Jehovah WILL judge it when the time comes), does not mean they do not have the truth. What I don't understand, is how, after knowing the truth, you could go join an organization that murders people. The best way to meet others is to join the military...well that's the best way to kill others as well.
@technopagan724 The reason why people leave are varied but the Watchtower would love you to think that people leave because of some "imperfect" things that go on inside the JW congregations. This statement alone shows me you haven't read up on information critical of the JWs, if you have you wouldn't make that assumption that is taught to you by them. And to call it the "truth" when the "truth" is subject to change is laughable.

@XJWS1 I have my own criticisms of the watchtower...i never could accept 1914 for example, and I subscribe to Robert King's (e-watchman) assessment of the WTBTS...that there is a demonic influence...however, in my own personal life, since I've been studying with JWs, I've experienced changes more powerful in my life than I have with any other religion and am absolutely convinced that it is the holy spirit working with me...

Jesus is the Son of God not A god. How can we as human beings understand divinity? We cant. Too many organizations / denominations trying to say they got it right and everyone else is wrong. JW is one of them. Simply believe in God and accept his Son. Compare translations of the Bible to learn about God. Study the original Hebrew and Greek. Dont recruit converts to some organization like JW. And who said Jehovah is the proper pronunciation??

The worst thing about it was I was hungry and the JW would not help feed me. They would ask me to meet them at a restaurant only after I caved in to their teachings. If I questioned a little bit, there was no lunch for me. The JW do not participate in any kind of charity. They love to build wealth, but to spend it to help someone in need is not recomended unless you are one of them. If you are not, then you are S.O.L.

I have more than a few Bible Translations and the New World is not one of them. That translation was altered to fit the teachings of Watchtower. Denies the divinity of Jesus. I prefer to go to the older Greek manuscripts (a codex here n there) and Theos and Logos in John 1:1 show the NW translation is corrupt.

Stop arguing and start studying. The JW New World Translation is not a correct Bible. Just check out John 1:1 and you will see that their translation was made to fit the watchtowers teaching. Proven Fact! They provide refuge for child molesters. Proven Fact! They will not show love or help if you question their masters at watchtower they will hate and outcast. Proven Fact! Its the fear of the watchtower organisation which installs fear of Gods great creations into their followers, simple scare tactics, nothing more. You need to stop focusing on the watchtowers predictions of the end and start enjoying Gods great and wonderful creations and the life he has gifted us to live.
Books are the answer. Good for you. And if you continue to research and continue to ask questions you will find that no institution of any authority, whether its the military, Christian church, or other religion or institution that is suppressive in nature, is helpful for anyone. My appeal to all is, keep questioning, keep reading books from as many different resources as possible, keep talking to all types of people, discuss philosophy, find out who you really are and love all beings.

I have notice that the JW's seem to always put their organization first, they say it's about serving God (Jehovah) but it's really about them serving their organization. So there is a certain amount of believability in his story. So if you want to be anal, and go find those elders and really find out if indeed they did what they would have to do ANYWAYS as stipulated by the Watchtower and Bible and Tracy Society...you go ahead. I understand...after reading outside literature (much of which I have read myself) why you would want to make the decision to cut your ties...but just because the organization is imperfect (and Jehovah WILL judge it when the time comes), does not mean they do not have the truth. What I don't understand, is how, after knowing the truth, you could go join an organization that murders people. The best way to meet others is to join the military...well that's the best way to kill others as well.

Jesus is the Son of God not A god. How can we as human beings understand divinity? We cant. Too many organizations / denominations trying to say they got it right and everyone else is wrong. JW is one of them. Simply believe in God and accept his Son. Compare translations of the Bible to learn about God. Study the original Hebrew and Greek. The worst thing about it was I was hungry and the JW would not help feed me. They would ask me to meet them at a restaurant only after I caved in to their teachings. If I questioned a little bit, there was no lunch for me. The JW do not participate in any kind of charity. They love to build wealth, but to spend it to help someone in need is not recomended unless you are one of them. If you are not, then you are S.O.L.

I have more than a few Bible Translations and the New World is not one of them. That translation was altered to fit the teachings of Watchtower. Denies the divinity of Jesus. I prefer to go to the older Greek manuscripts (a codex here n there) and Theos and Logos in John 1:1 show the NW translation is corrupt.

Books are the answer. Good for you. And if you continue to research and continue to ask questions you will find that no institution of any authority, whether its the military, Christian church, or other religion or institution that is suppressive in nature, is helpful for anyone. My appeal to all is, keep questioning, keep reading books from as many different resources as possible, keep talking to all types of people, discuss philosophy, find out who you really are and love all beings.

Man yall don't understand; i can't stand this religion that i was raised in (and left years ago), and every time i think about all the BS i've been taught, i think about my poor father who still follows it and probably gets doors slammed in his face all the time, but cannot leave because it's all he knows. And even if it was only my father, it doesn't make it less significant.

@warriorprince1010 Here is what you do. You contact Larry and ask him who those elders were, and then you ask them if they did what the Society stipulates they should as Larry said they did. That's pretty much it. The rest of the story is pretty much what he did after he left. :D I am sure it will put your mind at ease that the elders did their job as instructed to by their masters. How do you find Larry? For an amazing and well educated journalist like yourself, it should be easy.

I have notice that the JW's seem to always put their organization first, they say it's about serving God (Jehovah) but it's really about them serving their organization. Just like the Gentleman in this video all he is speaking about is he service to the organization and nothing about his service for God.

So there is a certain amount of believability in his story. So if you want to be anal, and go find those elders and really find out if indeed they did what they would have to do ANYWAYS as stipulated by the Watchtower and Bible and Tracy Society...you go ahead. I never claimed to a journalist, I just shared his story.

@Flash02021990, no matter what the Hebrew history book (the Old Testament) says is the reason for the wars conducted by the Israelites, the fact remains that mothers and children, and innocent men trying to protect their wives and children, were slaughtered by those wars. When the Israelite soliders came, I'm sure it was no consolation to those killed that they were dying because of a "holy" order.

@Flash02021990 Some people feel that joining the army and giving back to their country is the proper thing to do as well. Not all of them are in battle by the way. Not all of them kill. And making such an insinuation is a hyperbole and an assumption on your part. What does my comment have to do with being the property of a creator?
