Good choice. Garter snakes are very active. Unlike other snakes, the garter snake usually does not remain frozen when scared. At least mine didn't. When he got scared, he flew all over the cage.
i understand you probably did a lot of research (we all do for new pets) but from my opinion sand is a bad subtrate for gater snakes because they ingest it and get sick.
i have a question!... do u live in the wild/forrest? i mean i love animals nd all but thts alot of caged animals.. i have four dogs nd the only reason is bc we got them for free but it all ties into y we even have 4!
@CCbig24 Yes, I live next to wilderness type area in a uburb in Michigan. If you are thinking about having a cage animal get a calm small one if you have kids. If not you can get a more larger animal to handle. For example, I have a Savannah Monitor now that is ovr 2 feet long. It also eats mice and large meat. So just make sure you know what you are getting into! lol! God bless!
Well, its more healthy and has a less chance of dying from worms ect. They also are more welcomed in a home then one that doesn't like a cage. God Bless you!
sorry for the long wait, you need a 15 or 20 gal long tank. get a heat lamp and a lighting source from a pet store. For feeding, my garter snake 100% earth worms. Remember to give it cal. and vitimans too.
