No, Donnie has always been a martial artist since he was born, both of his parents were from the Chinese Wushu national team.

I think dancing is just his hobby. Martial Artists require a lot flexibility and body coordination, so he already has all the physical prequisites to be a great dancer.

Donnie Yen is completely awesome. some of his older movies aren't that good, though. He used to speed a lot of his fights up and it looks really lame. His recent movies like Sha Po Lang, Flash Point and Ip Man are great though. Right now he's the best martial arts star. He's a really good actor too, unlike Tony Jaa.

He uses it more than most. In some of his movies it's completely riduclous. Watch New Big Boss. It's so bad that you can barely see what's going on in some parts. Jet Li did this a lot too in some of his wire fu movies. To me Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung are easily the best when it comes to movie fights. Especially Jackie Chan. It looks like he never undercranks and his editing is almost perfect so you can see every move. Still, right now Donnie Yen is making the best stuff.

Not true. There are people who have used the technique more than him (Sammo, Jackie, Godfrey Ho, Woo Ping, Siu Tung, Corey Yuen etc). It's a perception that people always get when they watch his movies because of hearsay and their way of belief. In actuality, he hasn't really undercranked as much and as bad as you think. in Fist of Fury and Kung Fu Master, he did it BAD whereas in Legend of the Wolf (which was intentional) and some later films, he did it right imo.

I hear alot of people praising jet li and tony yaa. But there is nobody like donnie. Over the years, i've seen this dude just get better. I remember one movie where he incorporated MMA style fighting into one of his movies. Donnie is fast and exact. I'm not afraid to say this, but he is the best physical performer in action movies. Period. Check out the movie Ip man. Wing chun through out the whole thing, This guy can learn anything.
