the point of the video isn't to explain WHY they do it. it's to tackle the question of how homosexual animals promotes for the growth of a species population? in other words, how is homosexuality a positive evolutionary trait. it's not his job to approve one way or the other, regardless of how you feel about it.
I just glaze the surface of the real issue. I did not site my facts and because of that it comes across as rude, in a stereotypical way. I can see how if this got into the "wrong hands" it could be taken as a weapon of "choice". But I didn't make it for them. I made it for my gay friends...and my animal behavior teacher.
hahaha, I think you guys are taking this way to seriously. I am not a scientist and my main point behind this was to illustrate that there are gay animals out there, including humans, and we should learn to accept it and appreciate it as a part of nature.
Oh, no, you _didn't_ just start with the "lighten up" thing, did you? Look, I appreciate that you _want_ to explain that homosexuality exists in nature. But instead of dismissing genuine concern that you're _also_ sending out a negative message, you might consider affording more weight to the opinions of the very people these statements hurt, in very real and measurable ways. I want you as an ally -- but to be an ally, you have to listen to us, and understand why this hits a very raw nerve.
The excellent book "Biological Exuberance" by Bruce Bagemihl spells out the facts of homosexual behavior in a wide variety of species. No propaganda here -- just scientific observance.
Besides the fact that humans _are_ animals: Do you think the "it's a choice" brigades will make any distinction? They _will_ extrapolate such statements to humans when it fits their agenda. That's why it's so important that if you are really talking about anomalies, you make that distinction crystal clear. But you yourself are, perhaps uwittingly, making a statement about human homosexuality, by combining _manmade_ symbols of homosexuality with animals (e.g., the animal farting out a rainbow).
You really believe that animals engage in homosexual behavior solely when there's no heterosexual counterpart available? Better read up on bonobo apes (for starters), whose sexual activity is 75% non-reproductive, among an almost-exclusively bisexual population. Until then, you're reinforcing an inaccurate, negative, and offensive stereotype; you might as well come right out and say lesbians wouldn't be lesbians if only the right man came along. Sheesh!
Read Joan Roughgarden`s book Evolution`s Rainbow and it will clear a lot of questions.

It's true! I was speaking specifically about the positive effects of homosexuality in nature and yes, how that effects the evolution of a species.

Do you have any actual scientific knowledge at all, or do you get all of your "facts" from Kirk Cameron videos? This is complete propaganda.

"useful practice until the 'real thing' comes along"
WHAT? Are you kidding me? I'm gay, and trust me, it's a "real thing".
I appreciate the positive, or at least not-negative, twist on gay animals. But that "real" thing... Jeez.
