i'm a camshaft grinder at schneider racing cams... and to me, the best machines are the italian berco machines. it has a longer bed good to grind longer cams as caterpillar cummings etc.
For our application the machine we use is very hard to beat. We do not grind anything but V8 and V6 roller and flat tappet cams from new billets only. We do very little re-grinding except to freshen some of our original cams.
The Bercos are wonderful but if you ever had an opportunity to use our machine you would be pleasantly surprised. Very fast, very accurate and very user friendly.
This grinding machine is out of the ark. The last time I worked on a profile and follower was around 20 years ago.
Most high volume grinding is done with CNC machines where the worktable is static and the wheel head moves to form the profile. With a CBN grinding wheel an eight valve shaft part of a twin cam set can be auto loaded ground and unloaded in around 140 seconds (floor to floor time)
yes... I suppose if you're grinding cams for cumming or caterpillar engines you would probably use a machine with the required length of bed to suit the longer length of bump stick, - - we're talking about V8's here you 'fuck stick'.
Australian made machine using HMT cylindrical grinder as the basis. Built by the person who was on the original design team to make the Australian Repco manual grinder in the 1950's.
This machine was built in the early 1980's and is ideal for fast rough and finish grinding of steel or cast iron billets.
Sounds like you have a bit of wheel bounce going on or the wheel is slightly blunt.

Unfortunately they are no longer made.
