Been a while since a new discovery held my attention like this. The Opeth/Akercocke comparisons are obvious and a compliment! but I hear there's more to you. Will definitely be keeping an ear out for Talanas. Book us a London show soon! \m/
i dont know whats with all this hate going on with opeth. mikael akerfeldt is a mastermind of a musician, and fits the strangest ideas together and makes them blend together seamlessly. thats something that isn't as easy as it may seem
@MetalHead420100 Everyone has a right to their own oppinion, I used to be a die hard Opeth fan, but I can't fool myself any longer, they lost it years ago. And it seems like everyone else is noticing. However, respect to you for defending a band you love and keep supporting metal :)
@emilecristof its true. they do. i may not agree with your statement, but i respect you as well. of course i will support metal haha. and i know they're not, but i'll see what happens with their next album. i dont need opeth to always be metal, cuz i dont always need to listen to metal. so i was fine with it. lots of heritage is beautifally done
@MetalHead420100 Oh I'm not a metal fan only as well, and I like some songs off the Heritage record, too. You may have just made me give it another serious shot :) Cheers, mate.
@DerExperimentator Totally, man ! After Still Life it's just all those random riffs and acoustic bits that just don't do it. Opeth lost it a long time a go, face it, everybody. Talanas are the new leaders in metal. TALANAS!!!! \m/
Talanas rips it hard! awesome stuff! But don't be hatin :) Face it everybody, let's look for leaders! That always helped our species, hasn't it? haha
Why does every fucking Metal Song that does not consist of a verses chorus scheme has to be compared with Opeth?
You know the fucking difference between this and Opeth?
I tell you...
The individual parts in the song fit together here, in Opeth's songs... they don't. In Opeth's songs every pattern could belong to the other song, because it is just arbitrarily glueing some patterns together.
Such an amazing track and EP. It's a breath of fresh air in what has become somewhat of a stagnant time for metal music. Truely inspiring music, guys! Can;t wait to hear more from you
@halsinden.. I suspect this may be the closest I'll ever get to a no-handed w**k :)
I was gutted when Interlock split, saw your last show at satans Hollow in Manchester wity Jimtits and Nat, but Talanas is definitely a worthy rebirth.
I just got this EP some days ago and it's pretty awesome. It reminds me a bit of Akercocke. (Which is a huge compliment as I love their "Deeds that go unspoken, words that go undone" album)
Actually I might even write a review for this to spread word of it.
these guys are honestly some of the best stuff ive heard in a LONG while. this is exactly the kind of music that speaks to me...makes chills run down my spine. and i honestly cant get enough! you can count on me spreading the word for you guys. you deserve serious recognition.
@dalongshanks i'm actually typing this message from berry street studio - we're in the middle of writing the album! looking like it'll be out hopefully in spring 2011. H
I don't care what anyone says, this is good shit. All 3 songs from the EP are great. There's not much good new metal out there, but these guys fucking bang!
God, i thought the song was amazingly beautiful until i heard the actualy singing and not screaming. thats the main point i honestly DO NOT like about new bands. sorry..
@ScrotumPunchingFun fair enough man, if you have your own opinion over it, but i can't help feeling it's an odd thing to say - singing in metal songs is hardly new. from black sabbath, iron maiden up to napalm death & strapping young lad. H

@Baldock72 Thanks very much. We have had people compare us to Opeth, which is fine by me.
