  • i Procol Harum ci hanno regalato alcune delle più grandi canzone della storia, come dimenticare questa o "a salty dog"???

  • very bachy...lived my childhood in Palo Alto CA late 60's and all this music is so endearing melancholic and sweet like of a time forever gone

  • Another of my favorite songs by PH. Thank you for posting. How many years have gone by and I remember every note!

  • The problem is PH's fan base was never huge, at least not for long...

During the 2002 tour of the US (never returned) they had a hard time selling out 500 seat venues... They are loved in Britain, Germany, etc...

  • the sham of fame is all for nothing in the spirit world

  • My favorite cut from this album, even more than Whiter Shade of Pale.

  • I heard A Whiter Shade of Pale and Homburg as a kid, and after loving those songs for many years, I picked up a couple of albums a few days ago when they were on sale, and I can't believe I've missed out on this. It's brilliant!

  • Procol Harum represent my youth, the love we made, the friends we had, the music we listened to, the bright future in front of us.

Now, - getting close to sixty, listening to Procol Harum brings all that back.

They will always be in my mind and my ear.

  • keyboards from 3:04 on....thrilling. One of the few songs that well & truly takes you back...and still sounds fine today.

  • got this for christmas in 1969.played it to death.got a few more albums later then met the band in 1971.cant believe it now. ive always liked procol.always will.

  • the fact that Procol Harum is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet till this moment, i cant never explain!

  • @substitute91 the rock fall of fame is a joke I mean come on Rush ain't in there wishbone ash ain't in there and this legendary band ain't in there R&R HOF can suck it they only put the bands that generated the most publicity back in the day there's so many under-rated bands that should be in there it's not even funny!

  • Nice song....

To think, ABBA went into the Rock Hall before Procol Harum. (I just hope with Genesis in there, Procol Harum would be next)!

  • @Yourmomisnthere R&R hall of fame is nothing but a sham. Refuses to recognise the true talent in most rock acts and instead gives it to the names that will bring in the moolah.

  • @hfield07 Exactly, they put in run DMC and Michael jackson, but i don't think rush is in yet?

  • @hfield07 Now hold on for a second. I'd say The Beach Boys, Zeppelin, and Queen are more than deserving of a place in the hall of fame. I suppose you could say The Beatles as well based on influence.

  • @RazrHack Oh some of them are very deserving but a lot of the choices make me scratch my head when bands like T. Rex, Moody Blues, Chicago, Donovan, KISS, Rush, Steve Miller, Deep Purple, Yes, Jethro Tull, Iron Maiden, etc. are left in the dust while bands like Chic are finalists.

  • fue uno de los mejores grupos del siglo XX y coincido, no fueron debidamente reconocidos por los medios de comunicación, pero son un grupo de culto ahora y les aseguro que mucha gente que escucha sus viejos temas se vuelve fanática instantáneamente

  • this was my fav album for a long time

  • Actually Homburg is the first track on the very first album, and subsequently was released as the second single. Since this first album didn't sell much (I think I was about the only buyer), it was rereleased later with A Whiter Shade Of Pale instead of Homburg.

I still love the album btw.

  • If memory serves none of the original 5 issues of this album from 1967 included Homburg. It was the second single though from the group! The 1972 reissue that included "A Whiter Shade of Pale" was exactly the same ten tracks but with "AWSOP" as the first track for a total of 11.

  • I would look at the album sometimes while listening and imagine that the woman on the cover is the one mentioned in this song. The lyrics are poetic and priceless. They really took surrealism to its logical conclusion in songwriting. This is clearly art on a high order.

  • This song is great for so many reasons - Gary Brooker's singing, the keyboard and drum sounds, and not forgetting those surreal lyrics.

  • 1967 - Procol Harum

    1968 - Shine on Brightly

    1969 - A Salty Dog

    1970 - Home

    1971 - Broken Barricades

    1973 - Grand Hotel

1974 - Exotic Birds and Fruit

    1975 - Procol's Ninth

    1977 - Something Magic

  • Homburg didn`t appear on their early albums, I finnaly got it on a best of, or greatest hits. Do you think they were pulling a "dylan"

  • Well, I don't know, but Homburg is on the remasteres version of Shine on Brightly and A Whiter Shade of Pale, and also on about three best of's. Fantastic band.

  • "Homburg" was the "B" side of the single "Whiter Shade of Pale", (what we used to call "45s") and not re-released until these later albums.

  • Homburg was a stand alone 45 in the UK..with Good Captain Clack on the flipside

    Jim

  • I stand corrected... Good Captain Clack indeed.

  • real fan, hello

  • You missed out Live at Edmonton...sorry to be a pedant...

    Jim

  • can anybody give me names of all their albums please

  • Great song. Love all of Reids lyrics. He never played with them, but did appear on stage from time to time
