  • The music adds a bit of charm to it i must admit.

  • The music makes it better!!

  • you have ruined a good video with music sorry pal its get thumbs down cause of that

  • Nice not bice

  • Amtrak should buy those trains. Bice music, let those who whine about the music make their own videos

  • music kills the video

  • CRAP and more CRAP MUSI KILLS THE VIDEO

  • Is that Percy pottering down the branch line? Peep, peep!

  • Who sang that song am tryin 2find it on utube lol ;^1) xxxx

  • nice music mate!

  • Nice music, excellent.

People making negative comments about the music on this vid need to learn that it's possible to make a video like this to be enjoyable in its own right, and I think the music adds to the atmosphere. If you want to hear Valenta engines (and why wouldn't you?) then there are LOADS of vids that have them on - the uploader tried to do something a bit different here and IMO it's a good effect.

  • i usually hate music on these videos - but this seems to lighten the mood, it works - somehow! i will alwways remember hst's!

  • Get that shit music off the vid....

  • nice editing but music does wreck it.

  • wth take the music off

  • lets hear the Valenta symphony and the MTU concerto :D

  • Very good film, by the way ews66199 has got it right, the linespeed through didcot parkway on those platforms is 125mph (i should know, i drive them through there!!)

  • It's a 100mph limit through stations, 80 in some places.

  • who the tell does as song going "geng gega geng geng genga genga geng geng gega gegn" and fucking expect to get paid for it!

Pisses me off just knowing that's considered music. GAh!!

And, is it really true about 125mph?? Just didn't feel it =/

  • Putting a music track on this is like banging dustbin lids together during a Mozart aria.

  • 2nd, 3rd and 4th the above comments! LOL

  • Hi there! Great intro BUT HSTs make a kind of music that no human composer could begin to imitate. Long live the people who develop these mechanical monsters. Music (ordinary music) is definitely not needed. I stopped watching this video at 1:30 coz I knew the background music wasn’t going to stop. Constructive criticism only. Keep posting HSTs coz I love them [have done for the past 30+ years]

  • Shame the music totally ruins the video!

  • Wanted to listen to 125's, not that shit music!!!

  • @galecemt me to thate shit

  • ditch the music pleeeeease

  • songs fine you old miseries :-)

  • Love it. I stand there on the way to work. I sometimes think "If that went wrong, it woul de quite a mess" When you stand there it's the huge amount of energy that is evident!

  • at 2:23 that bush was dancing lol

  • I just love 1.05!

  • Yes. Get rid of the music. The real experience involves being aware of the vibration in the platform before you even see it and then feeling the pressure build up before the noise and shockwave hits you. Incredibly thrilling! This vid is spoilt by the music.

  • the music STINKS!

  • Ditch the bloody music! The sound of the HST was what made it great!

  • Good music :0)

  • Great filming, great panning, great zooming and great action but totaly fucked up by that shity tune!

  • why the shity music????? silly!

  • HST's make a wobbly sound when approaching

  • Imagine an HST running from London Liv St to Audley End (nonstop) lol! Audley End's the nearest station to my house. You'll see Class 170s and 317s

  • i doubt any on those trains where travelling above 70MPH.

  • @toby16uk thats 125mph mate you aint stood there and had one blast past ya,that aint 70mph i can tell you that

  • i doubt any on those trains where travelling above 70MPH

  • Comment removed

  • LOL. I see returning to this vid a ad appeared on the vid with the headline "the best meal ever"

I hope that wasn't based on my comment :-/

  • re upload without music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shity music

  • why is there music playing !!!!!!!!!

  • Oh christ this is what I'm going to be hearing every 15 minutes if the government decide to destroy the countryside and whack HS2 in the middle of my village.

  • @DiamondGina Nah the musics been added after, HSTs don't play crap music in real life so your safe!

  • @DiamondGina nah you won't see these running on HS2

  • The music absolutely made this vid for me and is the reason I not only watched it all the way, but watched it a number of times.

Rather than just documenting BASHIN AND THRASHIN as most of the other commenters clearly want, it serves as a fitting tribute both to the HSTs and to FGW who have recently refurbished them and continue to service them.

  • @TheDirector17 exactly what i was saying lol

  • OMG that song STINKS!

  • i think this song kind off goes well with the vid since its kinda saying remember me about the valentas

  • I watched this video hoping to hear the roars of the legendary 125 bombing it along the tracks but I was dissappointed to have the great engine sounds spoilt by the tune. My mrs calls me a sad train spotter, bus geek whatever bla bla, but she cheated on me with a fat ugly wanker so I don't care what she thinks. I like the tune but I can watch the video of "remember me" when I want to soCan you re-edit without the track and repost cos right now I just want to be a sad train spotter bus geek Thx!

  • ruined by music.

  • fgw hst is the best... Comfort wise its immaculate... I live right by the western mainline between reading and london and seeing these go past everyday is amazing. However after sitting on an emt hst, i was very disappointed because it was so uncomfortable, do majority of hst operators have old seats? Unlike fgw which has the bestest service and comfort :D

  • Nuhin like british speed

  • Didcot Parkway?? I LOVE the CLASS 43 HST !!!!

  • Good vid, bad music.

  • good song, good video..but not a good combo. But thanks for trying..

  • The ONLY DECENT Diesel MOTIVE POWER left on the Railways. These things ARE STILL WORLD class, and they're gonna KILL 'EM? :'-(

  • great vid keep em comin :)

  • A good video. But why do you need this stupid music. Surely you want to hear the Valentas!

  • @TheDezzRezz250

Except they aren't Valentas anymore :+(

  • I love this video. Theres just something about the roar of a HST hammering it past at 125mph. Shame their days are numbered. I cant get over the fact that these things were only designed to be a stop gap between the APT. 35 years on and theyre still wizzing across the UK.

  • this video would be pretty stale without the music

  • AWSOME vid mate great editing and music suites it really well :D defiantly 5* .

  • 10 miles south of oxford mate rail heratage center there aswell

  • Cheerz for info :)

  • Great Video!! Love it !! Btw Where is didcot please? I'm a trainspotter myself and I would love to go there

  • agree music ruined the vid

  • @wulliecar i cant tell if its made it just as good or not haha :D

  • video ruined by music, should have just left it to hear the engines

  • lol thats bollocks... I travel from Bristol temple meads to london paddington every morning and back again at night... takes me 1 hour 30 minutes usually which would take 5 hours in the car... first great western are great, least they can stay on the tracks unlike NXEC... going bankrupt after 2 years... terrible, now the line is being kept going by our money, the taxpayers money. disgrace.

  • @EDP407 Yeah Lol FGW Are my local people and i get from taunton to london in 2 hours ish

  • exactly.

    First Great Western FTW :D

  • the london to bristol line via swindon is fine and decent speed but london to newquay goes a different route is and far far slower so its not bollocks at all, it goes via newbury and westbury etc, what we call going via the desert

  • its slower because the london train cant get to newquay! (theres a change at.......bodmin or st austell or somewhere close to there!-unless you already know and im being picky here, if so, sorry! lol)

  • @EDP407 Sir First are not great, they WERE bailed out by the gov't in 2009 at taxpayers expense (£50m), have a very cushty franchise agreement which means if there is a revenue shortfall the government steps in to make up the difference

  • whatever u say.. "sir"

  • This is one time that an MTU engine would sound better....

  • Good video but defiantly should have not included the music regardless of the fact that it is a good song :)

  • wats the song buddy, I kinda like it. And good footage too, Smooth and u chase the planes well!

  • Planes! Trains i mean sorry :L :L

  • lose the music

  • lol when I heard the music in I was like: "NOOOO...You gotta be joking"

What was he thinking. Its like serving up a roast dinner and garnishing it with a turd

  • @1madaboutguitar

    succinctly put....

  • This video needs reposting without the music...Is that possible..? Pleeeese!! 'cos it is a good 'un otherwise.

  • First clip is on platform two at Didcot Parkway, trains going to London (:

I am at that station so much, it's crazy.

  • the video is good but the music awful

  • I agree, music bad, video good.

  • I'm with others - sorry the music completely spoils it. What more music could be fitting than those of the trains themselves?

  • Great film, pity about the music

  • 16 cylinder MTU is what we need, Nice thud thud thud bass line from a distance,

  • Here here.

  • Music completely ruins it!!

  • Let the Paxmans sing their own song. Fantastic photography spoilt completely by the horrible and completely unnescessary background music.

  • Music spoils this entirely, I think most people want to hear the scream, that's the whole point of Valentas!

  • The one at 1:38 didn't seem to be going so fast...

    still, nice.

  • at 2:2o the platform is no level why is that?

  • A big fan of these wonderful trains the HST 125's.

It is a pity I find the music the most irratating part of the video. I understand that vPxDeceptive is not a true rail fan!

vPxDeceptive do us a favour and go search a music video!!!? The trains are the stars here.

  • shut up you geek wow its only a train the music goes well with the train 5* m8

  • Hey mate brilliant video!

    I subed!

  • you got some great shots there but please get rid of the music and let the HST's provide the sound.

  • i agree +1

  • Didn't mind the music, liked the video. I lived in South Wales when the 125s were introduced and, although I saw plenty of them and had been on quite a few, I didn't actually see one doing 125mph until I went for an interview near Hitchin. I can remember being unable to comprehend how fast the thing was going - apparently it's a recognised phenomenon which has been used to explain why people get hit crossing tracks - in nature, big things don't move that quickly!

  • Very nice video, look at the lucky bird at 3:33

  • sorry at 0:30

  • class. its impossible to read a book while sitting on those platforms with these going through every 10 mins, they're more than entertaining enough.

  • great video. Anyone know any other good locations to film HSTs going full speed?

  • i use these trains to get from cornwall to london and yes they are amazing, they go soo fast and get you there on time

  • what is the name of the song pls

  • FAST!!

  • why the crap music,as bad as tv!

  • the fastest diesel train in the world epic sound.

  • Having entered regular service in 1977, that's 30 years ago, high speed train services have not really advanced that much in the UK have they? I love these trains, I used them in South Wales right from the start.

  • yep it still is the fastest diesel locomotive the class 43. 148mph top speed and apparently still had more to give!

  • no it isnt actually that claim was lost years ago the spanish have one that'le go over 150 mph look it up

and the class 43's absolute top speed is 143 mph so i dont know where you got that info from... the tilt trains could do more that were abandoned but were gas turbine not diesel

  • The unofficial record for a HST is 174, but that was unofficial and they were test runs when my father introduced the HSTs to the Western area

  • Wasn't that a test run of the Mk4 coaching stock before production the class 91 sets entered service? I vaguely remember it. With only 3 cars and two PC's = 260 tons ( Mk4s @ 40tons each) gives 12.9kW/ton, Eurostar is about 15kW/ton, so the 174mph looks OK on paper.

  • I think it was something like that, he hasn't really gone into much detail about it

  • the only time ive heard anything like 170 mph was people saying that the APT would have been capable of that sortof speed going a bit off topic here as befor i was just saying that the HST 125 is not the fastest diesel train in the world anymore and hasen't been for a while a russian diesel hit 168 and spanish 159 and the HST's absolute top speed is in the 140's

  • Both the Spanish and Russian were unnofficial (claimed by the manufacturers), the HST with Valenta engines still holds the official record..

  • i agree with cjmillsnun. we have the fastest diesel at 148.8mph. the spanish and the russians havent proven it. 30 odd years we have had that.

  • im goin there on thursday wooooo cant wait 4 these babies to hit 125mph pass me

  • did u enjoy it yesterday?

  • Fantastic, those trains realy are fantastic, shame thoe that they now have MTU engines I noticed that some are now starting to CLAG and screem a bit.

    Great Vid

  • Terrible music, but great video. Would love to be able to hear the Valenta's scream by instead of the hip hop.

  • y the random train tht stops at the end?

    wheres it goin?

  • Would have been a good video without the honga bonga music

  • This video is to show off the speed of these amazing trains! The music is awesome! Actually this is my favorite artists (Basement Jaxx btw) so I was quote happy about it... Awesome!

  • wait your right..blue boy...on the same mix haha. ;)

  • Noooooooooo. No music, puhlease!

  • Music does not belong here (the sweeter music belongs to the machines)

  • Music's by "Blue boy" 1997 hit.

  • Nice video. Shame everyone is complaining about the music. I like it and I think it goes well with the video. Shame I cant remember who it was by... ;)

  • the music is unnecessary

  • ur shitty music ruined the sound of the valentas it would have been good if it hadnt been there tho

  • veg :P

  • Loose the apostrophe on "HST." It should not have one.

  • Lose the second "o" in "lose". It should only have one.

  • Whoops - tee hee! My only comeback is that your first full stop should be within the inverted commas.....

    But perhaps we should stop....?

  • pity the crap music spoils the good video

  • this is what started it all off.

dad took me here when i was 3 years old,

it was 1993 at the time, and a intercity 125 when through with the taps wide open..

apperently i cried, but the next one that went through i had a massive smile on my face and was laughing!

    ive been hooked ever since.

brilliant video, i need to go there soon!

  • Nice

  • it is 125!!!!! my uncle used to drive them

  • i agree with the other person that isnt 125, i was stood at chippenham the other day when two hst's came thru one in either direction, where as u can see those passing, the one's i

saw were just a blur an they were doing 125!

  • Nice!! I will give you 5 stars for this wonderful video!

  • Not 125 I can assure you

  • Pedant alert, those trains are on platforms 1&2 plaform 4 is the slow trains to london...

  • 125 doesn't really seem that fast does it?

Love the video dude, trains are the sh*t!

  • i think it seems faster then it is considering the wieght and lengh of them

  • Not really, i use to drive my BMW E36 325I at 128mph all the time.... not anymore though!

  • yh but a BMW dosnt realy get anywhere near the wight of a train lol

  • cool....i live in steventon and the great western main line runs through there

  • Can u mount the camera close and low to the train. Like they do with the TGV's. I hav'nt seen any footage like that for the UK HST's, normally done for TGV's

  • the begining bit its quite iconic 'cause it shows the titles then you can here the guy on the PA warning people of an approaching train, shame about the music though

  • Cool vid, shame about the music, I do music over my trailers but always have the real sound over full clips... Keep up the good work!!

  • can you make it again and take the music of off it

  • brill vid, good music, what's the song?

  • I love to see more vids like this at Didcot and other stations where the 125s actually do 125mph. Best vid so far at Didcot. Nice and clear footage. I'd just like to hear the engines roar rather than the hip hop!

  • From what I recall its 110 mph through the station. a mile either side of the station is 125 mph. Music could be done with getting rid of. Other than that nice vid :)

  • The speed "limit" through Didcot is 125 mph on both up and down fast lines (it's been 125 for at least 25 years). If I remember correctly on the GW mainline, the 125 starts only a few miles out of Paddington, with a brief speed check through Reading station(75-80 mph). It's then 125 (on both fast lines) all the way until Swindon.

    -MAS

  • good video but the music spoilt it keep up the good work

  • 2 things spoil the vid mtus and the crap music. hst valentas rule

  • I have to agree there, just the music spoiled the movie, but MTUs are now a way of life, yes i know they are shit but we all have to get along with them!

  • Agreed, release this again with out the music and it'll be a good video
