  • Thank you so much! I fnnaly understand how the land in ILS :) greats from Holland!!

  • hey do you switch on the nav switch aswell?

  • Be carefull to stay below 5000ft for the ILS glideslope to engage people are asking about this quite often

  • Comment removed

  • im confuzed, when i was comin in to birmingham airport i started to do my ils procedure and their was lots of different frequency's and 2 different approach frequency's and it was 118.325 so i went to go and set it on the nav 1 and it only went to 117. and went back to start, i got really fustrated and confused so i thought i might ask you?? plz can you help!! ;D

  • @GidazEFC98 I think that the frequency 118.325 is a radio frequency and that u need to select one of the ILS or arrows on the map to give a frequency and approach that runway

  • @mikefog123 yeh ok thanks, i'll check next time i'll go on it, the thing is, ive got fs 2002... but i'll try ;) cheers.

  • @mikefog123 yeh just tryed it out got the ils frequency thanks, but it doesn't actually guide me to the runway and land :( my luck is crap i wish sumin could just workout for once, could you help? it also says something about the ils heading so i set it cuz thats what turns the plane to line it up. is this just different with fs2002 or sumin, cuz thats what i've got..?

  • You should idle the throttle as it flares other than that great video.

  • and what computer are u using? ;D

  • @GidazEFC98 Dell Vostro laptop

  • to disengage it do you just turn off a/p? and thanks for this vid amazing help!

  • @GidazEFC98 Yep just press 'z' and disengage it

  • Also make sure ur switch is on NAV and not GPS.

  • u need to disengage the Alt Hold for it to decend... if u have 'APP' and ALT HOLD on it will just fly straight.... have just the Approach button pressed... you have dots on the instuments to tell u ur on a perfect glide slope and when the dots are in the middle u need to disengage the Alt Hold then.

  • im dissapointed guys i never catch the ils my plane still flight staight.

  • great vid man

  • Great video, best ils tutorial out there, and when you said "dont land at 800 knots and ask why it doesnt work" got me cracking up xD LMAO

  • when i try to do this my plane doesnt automatically decend!? i left my plane on altitude at 23000ft but it didnt decend to go down in line with the runway!? HELP!?

  • @lukers556 you are to high, make sure you are below 3500ft before activating the ils

  • @lukers556 me toooo! what airplane r u in? :/

  • @lukers556 If you had a flight plan IFR, the ATC would have guided you into the approach, and when you are on the "straight in pattern" you engage the ILS for the selected runway. Remember, do not use the ALTHOLD when you are doing an ILS approach. Just use the APP. Hope it helps.

  • @lukers556 did you set the apr hold and alt hold and all that?

  • @GidazEFC98 Yes I had the altitude hold on to steady the aircraft and then used the approach hold switch to allow the aircrafft to descend.

  • @lukers556 if you're above the G/S or glide slope the ILS will not take control of the aircraft

  • @6Zebulon5 when i set mine, it doesn't light up the G/S so i have the same problem as lukers556, it doesn't automatically descend, the plane just flies over the runway, please help

  • @lukers556 Did you turn the autopilot off?

  • @lukers556 You need to be lower at around 4000 ft for the ILS glideslope to engage

  • @lukers556 this is only for the final approach, if you're at 23000ft and wanna lose altitude, you need to still be in gps controlled autopilot, and set the altitude you wish to reach. the final approach here should start 20nm before the runway at an altitude of about 4000ft

  • thx so much,, this is so useful !!!

  • @ElOthemany

    SAME!

  • MIKE! When it zooms in like that, press CTRL + SPACE it will solve that!!! >:D

  • You sound like that blond kid in Narnia. O_o

  • At my first comment it just turns to the heading of the runway. Is there some speacial way to set it.ill shut up now

  • It takes skill for the ils because you have to know how to set it! Hahaha;)

  • @stefanos18lrs That's my problem!!!!!!!!

  • What my problem is it never ever lines me up with the runway.:(?

  • Dear mikefrog when I do what u told me to do when I'm close to the runway and I undo the altiude hold it won't do the ils plz response asap

  • i meant do you u have to decrease the altitude? or does it decease by it self?

  • do you u have to decrease the speed or not?

  • @amerhussain1990 you decrease speed, not altitude

  • You said that real world pilots disengage Autopilot when they are above the ground? That may be so, if the pilot chooses. Autopilots are so advanced they can even land the aircraft.

  • When it popped up when it attempted to flare, it looked like a very bad and unnecessary go-around. Also, when it zooms out like that in LOCKED SPOT view, just press Ctrl+Spacebar to automatically zoom out and go to the back of the plane. That little trick works with any plane.

  • Hey there...i liked the vid infact its gr8 but i believe when ur comin in for the approach ull b goin on 140 to 145 knots if u can maintain tht speed ull have a perfect landing wid those skills xD try it#

  • Awesome thanks

  • I am flying using the GPS mode from Sydney to Melbourne. How far out do i need to switch to the NAV? My plane never seems to catch the ILS and just keeps flying straight over the airport. Please help...

  • B738 ILS landing:

Tune ILS freq when ATC says "Expect RWY ***"

Press the APP button on the A/P when getting CLEARED ILS

135kts on final (when cleared to land, should be BELOW 160kts when getting clearance)

Flaps should be 25 before getting cleared to land then set it full.

    Speedbrake (spoilers) armed when landing.

Take over at 500ft AGL (above ground level)

Keep the plane decending to the runway and flare WHEN ABOVE.

Flare to early and you'll stall

  • it should lock on before the green feather...make sure to switch gps/nav to nav mode and click on the runway fearther and set the ils frequancy and heading...approach at around 140 kn, gear down and flaps on at 3000ft.

  • Ok I have a problem... I was playing FSX multiplayer today, and I set up the correct ILS procedures, but at landing my plane was to the right of the runway, I mean like not even above the runway to the right... Help me on this

  • you must be near to the airport to enable the nav? i cant understand if i must go manualy to the green lines of ILS. can u help me!?

  • @stefanos18lrs If u are 30nm away from the airport u should turn on app mode

  • @wwehdpyros does it work with Cessna 172?

  • @Ram256PL no

  • Awsome tutorialit helped me a lot...XD

  • Just for all those people who are wondering why they cannot land using the instrumental landing system, make sure you have full knowledge of the GPS system and autopilot. Great tutorial, helped me out a lot.

  • Great video!! Simple and well explained! Thanks!

  • Thanks MikeFogg, very clearly spoken and very helpful. Much obliged.

  • I can answer why your flare when crazy... 180 knots is to fast for a plane to land with, especially with the flaps all the way down. The maximum landing speed is 160 knots while the minimum landing speed is 140 knots. And I remember u metioning pilots doesn't do anything, well I can tell you they do. Great video though! I favorite, like and subscribe. :) I hope you'll come with more videos.

  • thanks for posting this...you are right some others vids are confusing...i think your approach was too fast so the flare turned into a lift off XD. should be landing around 140kn full flaps.

  • What altitude were you at because i played with my desent rate and it didnt flare the plane it just ploped it one the gorund

  • Thank you so much, this video is more simpler!

  • When I try that, it brings me half way down. Then the plane starts to overfly the runway, so I have to bring it down and flare manually.

  • its not working....my palne doesn't even turn towards the runway....it just keeps flying straight...PLZ help meeeeeeee its so fuckin frustrating!:'(

  • Thanks...and yeah you're right the other tutorials were confusing!! Great pilot.

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks, but controls are so complicated on this game. I dont know how to land or take off properly. But still a nice game :)

  • thanks it helped me

  • hey how come when i do wat u told me to do the plane dosent head to the runway isnted landing beside the runway?

  • Hey thank you for this video it helped me alot

  • Guys u have to take over in the last 200 feet

  • Im a pufter and i no everything

  • hey thanks for this video!! after waching this video I can land on almost every runwy!

    so thx

  • could you tell me the coordinates and altitude when you started the video i really want to try this approach

  • thanks

  • how does one land at 800kts on a 737?

  • @AngioMane impossible

  • Thanks dude. Finally got it

  • wayy to fast, you in a 737 you should be landing no more than 140 kts

  • 8:20 you came to fast. that it had to much lift and you started to climb.

  • wow your rock i watchd other videos and i didnt get how did they do it so perfectly... now i know :)

  • can u help me plz when i turn on the autopilot master switch on the plane just falls in the water and i put the same frequency for the airport i was landing and everything else was correct but its weird it just falls in the water plz help!

  • @MegaDisneyCars you did not stall ore something?

  • damn kid, nice going, how old are you? Seem very smart for a young boy. Future is bright for you young man.

  • it "does that" because you're going in too fast.. you have to touch down just above stall speed which should be around 135-140 KIAS..try 135 KIAS, and it wont "do that".. ;)

  • Thanks. I got it working after I saw this video.

  • when u land use revese thrust until 60 then turn on the high speed exit other great vid

  • sweet video mate, keep it up

  • thanks that helped me loads beacuse is very clear to understand :)

  • Great video, Mike !! You're a very good teacher.

  • thanks

  • thx Mike, nice vid :) good job mate. very useful stuff

  • nice vid
