I don't wanna sound bitchy, but a lot of persons has been trying to show of their french and sadly it's all wrong! But it was super fun reading the coments that actually conteind greaaaaaaat french!!!!!!<3
o big deal one letter. its not like shes gonna be writing to anyone. and ugh is the only way i could think of that would be clear to have a nasalization an would probably lead her down the wrong road with pronouncing it. considering ive only been in french 1 for a few days cut me some slack. you dont have to be a huge bitch about it.
no need to get angry. i didn't corret you caus i'm a bitch, i did it because it was wrong. When i write things wrong i like people to correct me, that way i lern new stuff.
saying it the way you did makes you a bitch. i wouldn't of cared if you said, "hey, you made a typo. its ans instead of ang". instead your making fun of people for trying to help someone else out.
i said i didn't mean it that way! It was an honest misstake, and if you can accept my apology than your the bitch. (i'm sure that your not at all bitchy!! Just wanted to make thing right, sorry, i realy didn't mean it that way!!!)
"je veux" means "I want" in case you want to order something and it's pronounce "shjeh vuh". You have to say the "je" as if it was starting with a "shhh" sound.
Hope that helps too! Have a wonderful time in Paris!
you're so lucky! i've been wanting to go ever since i was little! too bad my high school took out the french department this year. i can read and write better than i speak.
Je Voudrais... - I would like, used for ordering food, or buying something. (Jeh vu-dray)
Il - He (eel)
Elle- She (elle)
Enchanté- Please to meet you. (on-shon-tay)
Je m'appelle... - My name is... (Jeh mah-pell)
Ça va? or Comment Ça va? - How are you? (Sah vah? or Commo sah vah?)
But I've been to Paris a couple times before, and you won't really need to know much, since most people speak English, and are used to tourists. I've only come across a couple of employees at shops that couldn't speak English.
I'm french canadian and I've been to Paris so I can help you :) If you want to order some food say JE VOUDRAIS and then say what you want to eat. JE VOUDRAIS means I want. Un= one deux= two trois=three quatre=four cinq=five six=six sept=seven huit=eight neuf=nine dix=ten onze=eleven douze=twelve treize=thirteen etc.
Don;t ask anybody if they speak english..cause the answer is NO! always..
everybody assumes if you are asking them if they are fluent. so just speak english ..most of the people do understand..especially in a big city like Paris.
if you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a message, I will guide you through pronunciation! :-)
when your asking for something always say Est ce que je puex. this means can i have. if you want some one to speak very slowly say est ce que tu parle plus lantement sil tous plait? when you are refering to yourself always use the word JE. for example. Je suis avec mon famille. (i am with my family) when you are asking a person a question use the verb TU. as in Est ce que tu parle anglais? (do you speak french?) i know LOTS of french. i live in canada so its very common just msg me for info :)
actually when you don't know someone you speak saying 'vous' not 'tu' because that is informal. you need to ask to speak informally with someone in france to speak in the 'tu' form. so speak in the 'vous' form
salut - Hey comment sa va ? - How are you ? je m'appelle ... - My name is ... Escusez-moi ! - Escuse me ! argent-euro-money hôtel-hotel fille-girl garçon-boy mon hôtel se trouve a... - my hotel is located at.. oû sont les toilettes ?- where are the toilet ? j'ai soif- i'm thursty ..... if you have any questions email me :)
i speak french.....tell me exactely what do you want to know ......I would be happy to help........bonne chance et je te souhaite de tres bonne vacance a paris (Good luckand i wish you very nice holiday in paris)
I agree with everyone: You don't NEED to speak french, but people will be more inclined to help you if you try. I've been living in France for 5 years now. If you need any help with a specific word/sentence feel free to contact me. Hope you have a great trip!
if you have a iphone, just add a french application, and it helps you with basic french including travel and the best part is, it has a speaker which you can press to see how the sentence sounds like :)
Paris is so wonderful!!!!! I'm so happy for you =) You'll love it!!!!
I can speak French but my boyfriend can't, so last time we were there, we spoke mostly English and apart from a lady at the bakery, every single French we met were willing to help us and patient enough to listen to him and his English =) We had a wonderful time and I'm sure you will, too!!!
1st - Grab a pocket-sized French phrasebook from the bookstore... asking "Bonjour (ou Bonsoir) Est-ce vous parlez Anglais?" helps a lot. I'm french so i'm telling you if you're going to Paris, people can speak english but they'll have a big accent!
By the way the verb TU doesnt exist, it's a pronoun as if you were saying you in english. ¸
I honestly think you only need to learn de basics like
Bonjour = hi
Je ne parle pas français= i don't speak french
Pourriez-vous m'aider s'il-vous-plaît? = Can you help me please
You'll be just fine they love tourists!
Have a greeat trip :)

'Je deteste Ca ' means ' I hate it '

1st - Grab a pocket-sized French phrasebook from the bookstore... asking "Bonjour (ou Bonsoir) Est-ce vous parlez Anglais?" helps a lot. If you try a little French people are much kinder and will often speak English with you (I lived in Paris for a while and my dh is French). IME, It's verrry important to at least make the attempt to speak French first... also when you enter a small shop to always greet the clerk or shop keeper when you enter.
