  • My favorite Castlevania! =D

  • can someone tell me if they are gonna make a new castlevania with simon belmont in it

  • @milashiv

If they do, it will be a shitty 3D Castlevania. A true Castlevania is a 2D platformer with outrageous end boss and challenging levels w/ a bit of unfair deaths! :)

  • i played this a couple of times a while back when i was a kid it's a shame i couldnt get into the series though

  • I adore the opening music... as well as the music in the end... and the middle. Holy crap Michiru Yamane is awesome.

  • I agree with you, the music in this game is special. If the Genesis hardware was better.... . I think it´s the 3rd best game in the series. For me 1st is SOTN for PSX (and now PSP), 2nd is Dracula X for PSP and for PCE Engine and 3rd Bloodlines.

  • Yeh, but I would also say that the strength and poise of the Bloodlines soundtrack, despite and in lieu of the the limitations of the Genesis sound hardware, makes the compositions even more breath taking.

To make something out of very little is a feat that should garner more respect from some of the earlier consoles. There are so many amazing scores that will be quickly glanced over because they don't SOUND appealing. It's not cool.

I think SOTN is also my favorite.

The Genesis sound chip can outrun the SNES one, with some effort. These kind of synthesizer musics are more than suitable for a CV game. For the sake of Dracula, name this as the best CV. Like one has commented, this is the most polished CV ever.

  • this is the first castlevania game i ever played, this game kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!

  • i read on wikipedia that the whip took a little of morris life everytime he used it because he wasnt fully of the belmont family

  • He used the whip too much after its expiration date (i.e. the defeat of Dracula). Use it too much, the wounds you get from battle will never heal and you'll eventually die.

  • That's ridiculous, the only differences were that Eric had a much better range and could use the spear to jump higher, Morris could swing from above

  • No it's John Morris and Eric Lecarde.

  • He meant the two characters on the intro. Not the two playable characters.

Loved this game to DEATH! I sucked at it, but still loved it.

  • When I said the two characters, I meant the blonde girl and the guy with the whip at the VERY BEGINNING.

  • It isnt a blond girl! It's a man! Eric Lecarde!!!

  • Okay, maybe it IS Eric, but it wouldn't make sense since the guy on the right isn't John. That looks exactly like Trevor, and Trevor's lover future lover, Sypha. The guy with the spear in the intro IS Eric, but the guy holding onto the girl is Trevor and Sypha. Basically that beginning section where we saw those two characters defined the strife between Belmont and Dracula.

  • Bloodlines was the story of Belmont giving the whip to another. So basically, in chronological order, Trevor and Sypha (with Alucard and that scary troll guy) killed Dracula, other adventures later, Vampire Killer was given to John Morris, Eric had the power (don't know how he got it, but I think Eric is one of Alucard's many groin spawns) to all John to use it's full power, and Barthley revived Dracula leading to Bloodlines.

  • And how do I know that was Trevor at the beginning and not Morris? Morris wears pants, Trevor doesn't.

  • That could be Simon in the beginning, since that is how he appears on the cover of the original Castlevania, but judging from the woman, and the fact Trevor wears basically the same outfit, it could be Trevor.

  • I think the woman in the opening scene is sypha.

  • nope dude^^

    its the niece of dracula

  • Holy crap Trevor is hold one big whip.

  • Correct me if i'm wrong but are the 2 people in the beginning of the intro Trevor Belmont and Sypha Benades?

  • yeah they are

  • Most underrated Castlevania game, easily. It was shorter than most, but it was more "polished" than any other Castlevanis game before it.

Plus it has still, to this day, the best music for a Castlevania game.

  • Exactly.

  • @Chricton

It wasn't shorter, because the FAIR, but hard difficulty :D. The password system keeps score of your continues and lives - not a way most of the games back then were.

  • the last boss of this game is very easy

  • cool intro.
