Some of them did go overboard with the egos and compared themselves to much better artists but quickly snapped out of it. And there's nothing wrong with serious music, and The Who did much of it brilliantly. And what's wrong with ballads about strippers? "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" is Poison's one inarguable millisecond of genius.
