Hi there, that was simply beautiful. I have just watching the screen for ten minutes after it had finished. Thank you for sharing, I did not have the honour ovef meeting Saito Sensei, but I train and have been to seminars with teachres that have.
I think this is post renovations and it looks beautiful. It would be great to have more info on what was done, I think I saw a picture somewhere showing the new wood being harvested from the grounds which would be another wow surprise
Very nice video. I hope you enjoyed your journey and the experience as much as I imagine you did, and well done for braving the waterfall! What is the situation in Iwama now regarding live-in students now? I have read and heard a lot of different thing regarding the place since Saito-sensei's passing and the atmosphere seemed more like that of a museum than that of a vibrant, living dojo. I would appreciate any information or insights that you may have regarding such. 合気とは愛なり。
Hi there, I couldn't film during evening class so you missed out on that part. But though it seems quiet and calm, the days where busy, practice tough and different since Saito's days (I was there twenty years ago) but if you want to experience O Sensei's place it is still a must see. You need to apply through Hombu dojo, Aikikai headquarters in Tokyo. They have a page on their website for applicants for the Ibaraki branch dojo. Inagaki sensei is the main teacher.
Great experience!
