According to some comments, Michael J Fox doesn't know anything, because he's an actor, but all those other actors somehow do know something, because they disagree with Micheal... Idiots
Try healing by faith exercises and diet(Lorraine Day did it with cancer). If that doesn't work why not try adult stem cells?Obviously, God blessed a scientist with the capacity to conceive the idea... if its not doing any harm or perpetuating the sin of abortion why not?
Yeah, Kurt. We wouldn't find a cure for 15 years, right? So, if it took 15 years to find a cure for polio, or small pox, we never should have bothered? Of if we could cure a form of cancer, but it'd take 15 years - nope, not worth the wait. Tool. Take your evangelical BS to a street corner.
Adult stem cell research has cured about 50 known diseases. Embrionic stem cell research has cured none and it has also caused tumors. That is something that the media will not talk about. Too bad our tax money is going into Embrionic stem cell research.
I know a conservative radio talk show host against just about every policy democrats support, except one.
He supports social safety net. It turned out that he once was a welfare recipient.
Wasn't Michael J. a "small government" conservative before? And now he wants a help from the government?
Do they, each of them, has to learn hard lesson before they realize one of the government function is to protect the people from the hazzard, man-made or natural?
Get some real info on stem cell research by looking at the Sam Harris videos here. This isn't anything like "taking livs" or killing a person or something like this.
im pretty sure that nobody kills somebody and saves someone as a result....im pretty sure putting sperm into an embryo in a lab dish is not killing babies....if your gonna throw the embryos away anyway...why not use them to save lives. luckily, Amendment 2 passed in Missouri. If you think differently, suck a chode
Stem cell research will take lives to help others. that is the reason some people are against it. There are different types of cells to take from and no one has the right to take from others against their will. Plain and simple.
stemcell research can save lives you idiots, to all the people who disagree with it and only because some assholes will get rich and some welfare mothers going to clinics to donate eggs for the money...no one cares about that fact that millions of people that live with diseases like parkinsons, alzheimers ect will benefit from that and could possible save their lives...but again, people only care about themselves
Again, BS. He voted against the "Look at the bright light, oooh, look over here" bill that the GOP tried pushing.. He voted for the Castle bill that authorized embryonic stem cell research.
twisted? good dr. wise young. i know him. i am spinal cord injured, my brother was diabetic and my father had parkinsons. why do you call this twisted bull?
he only voted against the research that would not destroy embryos, i.e. limiting funded research to adult stem cells. ESC (embryonic) uses discarded blastocysts from in vitro clinics. people, we are talking about a fertilized egg, a few days old.
OK lets clear this whole thing up once and for all. Stem Cell research consist of two topics not one, the first being adult stem cell and the other fetal stem cells. I don't care of your a Republican, Democrat, Conservative or Liberal the facts are that adult stem cells are working and the research is producing many great results. Now as for the Fetal stem cells the results are poor to say the least, medical scientist can't get anywhere with the research.
"Why not use adult stem cells instead of using human embryonic stem cells in research?
Human embryonic stem cells are thought to have much greater developmental potential than adult stem cells. This means that embryonic stem cells may be pluripotent—that is, able to give rise to cells found in all tissues of the embryo except for germ cells rather than being merely multipotent—restricted to specific subpopulations of cell types, as adult stem cells are thought to be."
Hmmm... Interesting. MJ Fox is an actor using his experiences to bolster the entertainment aspect of this ad so that it quite effectively "tugs at heart strings". However, a successful actor does not, in this case, equal an informed speaker (no, having Parkinson's does not make you an expert on stem cell research). It should be taken for what it is.... Entertainment value to play on emotions, not to educate. No medical facts. 2Cents
Actually, many clients suffering from a disorder are compelled to become experts on the disorder. In my work with tourettes/ADHD/OCD clients, I've found that many parents become very well informed, due to the motivation to help their child. Fox appears to be equally motivated to learn about his own disorder.
Michael Fox couldn't discuss the most basic elements contained in the amendment. Hardly an expert. He needs to aquaint himself with the legislation he's stumping for.
As soon as I read your comment, I thought exactly what HannibalLec said. The MJF Foundation has raised $80 million since he created it. He's been diagnosed for 15 years. I would wager he knows an immense amount about this disease. Go watch "Lorenzo's Oil".
Well, actually, if you had actually looked into this before speaking, you would know that the Michael J Fox Foundation is the second largest funder of parkinson's research after the federal government. He's raised over $85 mil. for research. He understands the research quite well, far better than Jim Caviezel of Patricia Richardson.

Finally someone who knows the science.
Embryonic stem cells have not made any major breakthroughs in curing ANYTHING. Its all just supposition.
Adult stem cells work.
Its not a religious issue - its a science issue. Why waste money and time on something that just doesn't work?
