  • They alternate

  • Yes! Tubas kick ass!

  • Just wondering, is it really necessary to have 3 tubas?

  • I LOVE this piece! Especially the lows playing at 0:30 secs! I'm playing this now at UNC Wilmington! Alto Sax Baby!!! :)

  • I LOVE this piece! Especially the lows playing at 0:30 secs!

  • this is at West Virginia University

  • The clarinets are freaking INSANELY good!!

  • We marched to this freshman year of Highschool har har

  • Great job! your band did justice to this song

  • No Bari sax? D:

  • What time signature is this piece in? Or waht time signatures are in this piece?

  • @narutofreak774 This piece is written in 7 / 4, but it's easier to feel it in 3.5 / 2.

  • trust me, unless you have at least two weeks to practice this like two hours a day to perfect it, you DO NOT want to play this piece. i played it at band camp two weeks ago and we had four days to prepare it.....it turned out awesome but only cuz we all practiced. this song is hard as crap dude. and being first oboe just makes it worse cuz the second chair is relying on you to get it right...

trust me i would know :/ haha

  • I play Bass Clarinet and I WANNA PLAY THIS PIECE SOO EFFIN' BADLY!

  • @narutofreak774 I play Bass Clarinet and have played this piece b4.It is damn fun to play

  • hazo pieces like arabesque, ride, rush, and this one are very similar in nature.

the must interesting i say is arabesque because its much more eastern the the other 3.

in the end, hazo pieces are mindblowing to play and listen, but once u rehearse them for long periods of time they get boring. i played flute in ride and arabesque, both very difficult pieces, but they were very well written and moving pieces

  • the flutes are so metal!!!!!!

  • @idoitjusttofeel Right -- the wooden ones didn't have the appropriate timbre. (jk) Thanks for viewing and commenting!

  • @matt15648 Nice. Post a vid of the performance, please.

  • excellent performance! =] however, i would have like the 1st trombone part at 2:31 to have been a little louder, thats an important part.

  • i play the tuba at 220 (Practice) but in concert i do it at 160ish

  • This was a great song to play, haha. He's a great conductor, and I enjoyed playing in this band! :D

  • I love this soooo much... my band is playing this at the moment.

  • yep, first alto sax

  • im playing this shortly for all-districts, same conductor. He takes it WAYYY too fast

  • are you in the top band for districts?

  • @mobeus1

This is the same tempo that it is taken on the Workf of Samuel Hazo CD.

  • @matt15648 never thought someone would actually want to play suicidal runs. I played this my freshman year at an honor band. It really killed us though.

  • No. You are not playing Arabesque. I LOOOOOVE that song. You must have a really good flute soloist to play that suicidal stuff. I can play most of that solo. Except the middle of it. That part is suicidal.

  • Sam Hazo was my band teacher! it's kinda funny to see videos of his music now.

  • I played this my freshman year of college..it was nice. I was on bass Clarinet!! The woodwind soli is AWESOME!!!! They did a great job!!!!!! I love this bands version...they killed us lol

  • :O! is that 3 bassoons i see in a high school wind ensemble!? also, this tempo is the same as most recordings i've heard

  • I love playing this song!! It is such a great piece of music!!

  • Como faço para comprar essa partitura?

  • Ele está disponível em diversos sites da Internet. Tente pesquisar por "Hazo Exultate Full Score".

  • the very beginning was a bit rough. then after it got much better

  • I'd have to say this was a bit... too fast, although 142 might be a bit too slow.

  • I can always tell one of Hazo'z pieces...

  • I wouldn't quite call that 180, but this band is still pretty awesome.

  • my HS band played this, we played it at what the music said, but this tempo sounds great.

  • this is such a fun piece! great winds for being able to play those runs so cleanly, quickly, and still managing to accent the right notes :-P

  • My bands playing thisss, those woodwind runs on my piccolo arent funn (:

  • the tempo is good fast. when it's slower, it's boring and loses its energy. we played this in my texas 5a band...

  • this speed isn't that bad honestly. I played it in a concert and this is pretty much the same tempo we played. lol. But this is great. :)

  • wow

  • Wow they really are playing it fast. It contradicts the way I played it, but I still enjoy this performance. Thanks for sharing!

  • i love this song<3

    it's beautiful!

hopefully my school band can play this, or any other songs composed by samuuel hazo. we already played rivers, and we're playing it again for state.

  • This is ACCEPTABLE! Hinds CC Wind Ensemble played this...It was fun...the bad thing about it, in measure 29 where woodwinds do the runs, it was only 1st chair flute, piccolo, 1st clarinet, and 1st alto sax who played it....

  • This is good. I like this :p

  • Love this piece...

I was supposed to play this at my UNO honor band I just finished, but the conductor took it out...

    But great vid, 5/5 :P

  • Thanks for posting ;]
